Nice!! One thing I would test is with it running turn your radio off to simulate loss of signal to make sure your failsafe is kicking in. As when you bound the new receiver you seemed to not set any as that is where you would set it. ie) AUX to off engine kill. But again you may have done it and just didn't show it. When I first set mine it didn't kill the engine due to I didn't have the AUX setup with a failsafe setting. And how I love the sound and smell of gas engines!!
Another great video. These last few vids have been really helpful. My kill switch just showed up for my 5-T so the install should go pretty easy after watching these vids
Great Job Earl. I hope this fixes everything. Sometimes those gremlins are a pain in the butt to remove. One time an overhead communication line caused my old Traxxas to freak out. I changed everything. LOL. Can't wait till the Limitless giveaway. I really hope I win.
Ur right the tunning of the engine is perfect 👌 and to me I believe it was the receiver that was goin bad I'm hoping tht u have it figured out. Bc I knw some things can be frustrating, another awesome video with helpful information that's why I love ur channel man u have the best stuff 💯👍
Interesting there was no corrosion in the receiver. They usually don’t go bad for no reason. Possibly a voltage issue or a short did some damage to the receiver. Hopefully that was the fix. Good luck on the test run. #nomorerunaway

Spektrums and Sparkplugs don't play well together. Dump that spectrum radio system. they glitch out. So many of the people I know that had the HPI Bajas that had spectrum radios had problems. They are just not going to do well with a spark ignition. Even with a Resister plug, they'll mess up, and a kill switch wont stop them because the Spectrum rx doesn't trip the kill switch without some messing around. And yes, the on/off switches can also become an issue. I went to Futaba and had no issues, but eventually bought Nomadio React radio for my Bajas, and they were flawless.
I've noticed the older Spektrum receivers are pretty garbage, but their later ones (like the one you bought and installed) are solid. Hopefully that's all it was.
ok, watched it all. I highly recommend you do a visual SPARK PLUG check, I do this on all my Installed KILL-Switches. Just to visually verify the system works, remove plug, pull starter, hold plug against metal on the chassis. Ofocurse this will not re-produce a runaway which you had, but you can be sure you have spark cut when you want. Otherwise, this is still a mystery, I can tell you that low voltage is unlikely, but even if it was it would not cause a runaway and you should have had the switch cut spark in those cases, as you showed here. To be honest bro I think you have a radio glitch, could be intermittent, and tough to track down. I highly recommend you buy the cheap FLYSKY GT5 and run it, super easy and will not piss you off. Cheaper than the spectrum receivers in some cases too. Anyways, ill stay tuned for more.. But so far, I don't see the obvious factor here other than the entire radio issue causing this somehow.
I have a cheap radio link set up but felt after changing radios with the same issue it wasn’t a radio but I will change it to a radio link if it runs away again 👍👍💯💯appreciate your input 👌👌
@@earlmoorhead5555 its most likely the receiver, really nothing else it can be, right. you verified the kill u def works, can't be that. you could also swap out the throttle servo, we need to fig this out. I also had a runaway once, and it went full speed into a. curb. Luckily Redcat gas RC r super slow, lol! Turned out I had 100% servo failure, and it was f jammed at full throttle, and I had no kill switch. Still beating myself up over it..
@@hybrid32494 yes I was wanting to figure it out with something obvious but definitely an intermittent issue that hard to identify but I will run it with just a receiver replacement then if no issues I’ll still replace the servo just as the other one is old and factory but hopefully no runaway next time out and that will confirm it’s a receiver issue so I can have peace of mind again 👍👍😳
@@hybrid32494 I had a runaway with my first nitro (Jato) full throttle through what I thought was a small puddle of water ended up deeper then I thought both servos died at full luckily I was at a baseball diamond and it hit the fencing and just stalled out.
Receivers are fidgety suckers some times. I once changed a tqi receiver thinking that had to be the problem but it didn't fix it ,I then brought it to the man,"LHS" he put a new one and still no fix so he put another new one in and finally problem solved, 🤔 . Gota be the receiver. Let's keep our fingers crossed.
When people start their nitros at my local track my son can’t handle it and runs off. It seems like they full throttle it and rev it 40-50 times then drop it down to give it hell. My son doesn’t do well with loud sounds unless it’s coming from himself lol
I had a similar issue of random runaway on my KM using a Hitec RX. Turns out the motor vibrations on the chassis caused the receiver to fail even though it looked fine.
did you try the cut off from a distance ? as when it ran away the other day you weren't right on top of it ,just to test the transmitter .nowt worse than electrical problems ..good job on the video ,greetings from Mid Wales in the UK.
Set everything up and then re-bind with the brake on and kill switch activated. This will kill the motor and set the brake if signal is lost but power still remains.
I don’t see that 🤔 for it to creat a voltage back feed issue to the receiver they would have to be touching in some way but if your positive I’ll show it on the scope or waveform via voltage signal as it would have spikes in the signal line 👍👍
@@earlmoorhead5555 it's not a backfeed issue. It's electromagnetic shielding due to the spinning megneto. Essentially, it creates a small electromagnetic bubble and if some rx's are nearby it inhibits signal in or out of the rx. One of those strange electromagnetic issue few are aware of.
@@HBFTimmahh it’s a backfeed thru the power line if at all possible as the coil and receiver are 18inches away the magnet can’t create that big of a field in the location of this receiver 🤔?
@@earlmoorhead5555 GL. Many thought that previously. ITs a roll of the dice with Spectrum and DSS type radios. Which is why Futaba works as it is FASST, which is different protocols not effected by the magneto as they are shielded. Could try to wrap the receiver box with foil tape. but most found that introduced other issues/glithes. Just trying to help folks learn from previous mistakes.
I have the same station and a Spektrum SPMSR6110AT receiver with a Baja rovan. Everything is installed but I can't configure the station and the receiver to turn off. Can you explain?
The Kill switch plugs in between the coil ? And you need to set up the channel on the receiver to on off switch on what ever channel you used on the receiver. Setting up you controller for that channel
@@earlmoorhead5555 What I don't know is how to configure the station. I had another Flysky FS-GT3C controller and I turned it off but with the Spektrum I can't do it.
not sure why you dont buy anything from ddm racing? Best place for 1/5. That new battery still too low of mah and the fail safe is not reliable. Buy killer bee or mod
@@earlmoorhead5555 Drive only electric ones, lol. I'm not good with my mowers or weed eaters so I don't mess with the liquid fuel RCs. I do like the extra stiff the gas ones have like brakes and fuel cells and stuff. Always like learning about any and all RC stuff.
