👉 Have you mastered the balance yet? If so, the next step is learning how to gain speed! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-l1_xDF97Gvg.html
Helpful tips and great editing! Something I have found helpful so far (just received freeskates in the mail today) is holding myself up and pushing with my hands against a wall. It's helped me get a feel for what rolling should look like, what kind of lean keeps balance, and how to turn my feet to keep them inline. So far and as a beginner, one of the most frustrating things about freeskates is how long it takes to get them in place for another attempt! With a skateboard, you can pivot and flick it around with one foot to get it right where you need it. With freeskates, you have to worry about two decks, getting the proper rotation, AND getting them lined up with each other. It just takes more time, and you typically have to bend over and use your hands. Anyway, that is to say: when you have a wall to hold yourself against, you can keep rolling back and forth without having to reset nearly as much!
1 month beginner here. I do keep my legs shoulder width apart when I'm just passively sliding down hill, but it's quite tiring to do that because my inner thigh muscle gets tense trying to keep that pose. Is it possible to just stand relaxingly sliding downhill like on a skate board or inline skates?
Yes definitely! The key is to build and strengthen those muscles. That and becoming more comfortable on the skates will allow you to cruise both downhill carving and flatland pumping
Speed goes a long way, as well as time spent practicing. Make sure to always use a decline, at least for the beginning stages. Maybe reviewing our recent pumping video will help you - Let us know if it does!
Just Saw these for the first time, and need them, what your not saying is your pumping motion is identical to doing planted crossovers on hockey skates, the only difference being your feet are perpendicular, These to me seem related too real skating, rather than boards or blades, that sadly rely on slope or lifting your feet and kicking. Freeskates are now a splinter in my mind until payday 😓 you should give me a free pair for giving you the idea to make a version of the truck with a runner "blade" so you could play with them on Ice where i'm shure you could blast crazy fast.
Hi Johan! So this video is primarily about balance - we do compare the motion to crossovers on roller blades in some other vids. You’re right, it’s the same physics, only sideways :) Ice skate versions of freeskates already exist! There’s a few that make them, however we specialize in just the freeskates at the moment. Haha, so glad you’re interested in freeskating - it’s a wild journey. Always happy to help you out and answer any questions you may have. Cheers!
This is probably going to sound like a weird request, but would you guys be willing to do a tutorial for those with small feet? XD I tried getting on the skates from a previous tutorial with touching the ground with your toes and pushing off, but when doing that my foot is pretty much the length of the entire board. I'm a US size 5 womens (size 3 mens), and I feel like when I push off the ground my balance is still messed up when keeping my feet in the same position. But I'm also unsure how far back my foot should go on the skate then or if my stance should change at all? Or if there's any tips for pushing off?
