I'm Australian and believe me, we know how Ireland feels right now. We used to have top players at established clubs in Europe's top 5 leagues but nowadays our most established player is the second in like GK at Arsenal on loan from Brighton where he can't even get a game anymore. Other than that they're all running around in Asia. Back then we were beating the likes of Brazil, Uruguay and one of the top teams in the AFC while nowadays we can barely scrape past fucking Thailand, Uzbekistan, Syria and Palestine while getting knocked out in the last Asian Cup by the UAE while still managing to miraculously qualify for the last World Cup
Bro u guys won the Euros in 2004 and u faced Portugal in that final. The last time my country Ireland qualified for the WC was in 2002 and it was a year before my parents were even married. 😂
@@BigSmokeMUFC I mean you are not wrong but it is quite embarrassing for a former European Champion to lose to a bunch of plumbers. At least Ireland does not have to live up to the expectations of a former champion.
@@priyanshupradyot Even worse when he watches Ireland being unable to beat Luxembourg AND Qatar...and then remembers he's a Newcastle fan...damn, I truly do feel sorry for Michael😂
I know this sounds like a fairytale lad but with all due respect, playing for your country in any sport is no joke. You have a job to do - if you're not going to make your body resemble a noodle by the end of each international match then you dont deserve the shirt.
Being competitive against scotland , I take it every day , palestine Players are israel liga leumit caliber players , while we have some talented players like lior rafaelov (who don't play for god knows why reason) excellent dribbler like Manor and eran zahavi
Gotta love the fact that the Irish guy depicts Luxembourg as an underdeveloped country with “Tarzan” living in it, while it has the highest GDP per capita in the world.
@@totynst9774 I mean, they managed to hold the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Antoine Griezmann, Olivier Giroud, N'Golo Kante, and Paul Pogba to a draw. Eventual world champions couldn't get past Luxembourg at home. So you definitely have a point.
@@akelly9528 haha Lebanon is probably the worst national team EVER well at least we won against North Kora and almost won against South Korea unlike *cough* *cough* Germany
You have to do watchalongs for all the Ireland games from now on. I am pretty sure that you will become the next Don Robbie of the international break!
Gerson Rodrigues was the best player on the pitch in both legs against Club Brugge in the Europa League. Also, one of the best players in the dutch second division when he played there for Telstar.
They could have just done it with a t-shirt. But no, Ireland are boycoting Qatar their own special way. Bravo. Thanks for joining the movement. Cheers from Norway.
Asian as well I hope. For years Asian were represented by either (or both) Middle East or Eastern Asian countries (and Australia) but maybe we'll see SEA countries played in the World Cup.
I was in the stadium less than six months ago when Luxembourg lost to Liechtenstein. Now seeing them win in Ireland... the randomness never ends with the red lions.
Damn I wish the english, germans, french, spaniards and portuguese would know the privilege they have, their national teams don’t care about their qulaifiers because they take a world cup spot for granted. Us from smaller nations have to endure stuff like this. I hate my national team
being a portuguese guy born in 2000 i feel like a spoiled kid lmao cause we were completely hopeless for the most part of the last century but in this century we've always been one of the top teams in europe
We Indians at 104 drew with Oman who are 81. Luxembourg are 98, this international football business doesn't make sense. But then let's see what you do against San Marino, then may be our team would go "hold our chapatis"
To be fair it was Rodrigues who got the goal, and If I know football like I think I do then any player named Rodrigues, cisse, sanga or hernandez is always going to give you problems.
Hey, at least you dont support the US and India. The US lost to to Trinidad and Tobago which made them not qualify for the WC, and India have lost Guam, Tajikstan, Turkmenistan, and freaking Guam
PLEASE never mention Kyrgyzstan again. My ears are still bleeding from that pronunciation. Edit: I'd also suggest that Richard Jolly is so obviously taking the p that it isn't even worth bringing up for a joke that's weaker than his original one...
I normally love his rants cause they are hilarious but referring to Luxembourg as a bunch of computer salesmen is simply ignorant of the huge progress they have made. 10 years ago it would have been true but not anymore. The reality is not only are the Luxembourg players all professionals but they have more players playing in top tier clubs around Europe than we have. Bar maybe 2 players, their starting 11 all play in the top divisions in Germany, Ukraine, Portugal and Belgium. By contrast we only had 6 PL players (Cullen makes 7 if you consider Anderlecht PL standard) in our starting 11, at least 3 and possibly 4 of whom are about to get relegated. If we put that same 11 out in the summer and there are only 2 players who will definitely still be in the PL they are both RB's!
I hope the FAI have learned not to hire a manager from the Irish league cause they’re on par with League One. You might as well hire Joey Barton if that’s your standard
I think you're wrong with this one that defeat was a product of 20 years of FAI corruption and neglecting the league of ireland, If you dont want Kenny what's the alternative it's just quick fixes if you get rid of him hes trying to change the culture that's the worst Ireland team in history it's not his fault hes nothing to work with the results wernt better under mccarthy, Saying you want Keane instead of Kenny just doesnt make sense him and Martin O Neill played some of the worst football Ireland has ever seen.Weve qualified for 2 of the last 10 tournaments so this idea that 10 years ago we where a great side just isnt true
Get rid of that clown manager, enough's enough we have not made a world cup since 2006 so it will be at least 20 years without one because we have no chance of this one. I don't expect to qualify for them all but 1 in 3 or 4 would be nice, now we will be in the bottom pots with the likes of Luxembourg because we will sink in the rankings so we will get harder groups to qualify.
That's what happens when you have a FA that's more concerned if the manager is either 1. Irish or 2. Catholic and preferably both. Ireland will never have success on the world stage because everything, including sports has to come with a political statement. It says a lot that their most successful manager was Jack Charlton who was English and probably not all that obsessed with making sure the team submits themselves to the Catholic faith over training to be better.
