I've noticed the same thing, without knowing. When I was a kid I couldn't stand ProMark sticks becaus they were alot "silkier" than Vic Firth. I just thought I had bad technique. The older and more used the sticks get, the better they feel to me. I'll definitely try the candle thing.

Hey Daz, awesome vid mate. I gotta say, you come across very comfortable and honest on camera, something I really struggle to do. It's also really nice to hear lessons/tips on subjects that we don't normally think, about but are important.
Too much lacquer definitely has sticks slipping out of your hands that's why I love Vic firth and on the opposite end to much grip like rubber will stick too much I will try wax though it sounds like the same principle as what surf board fanatics use and swear by thanks for the tip it makes sense
