I completely agree. I also use Avidemux for some things that LosslessCut doesn't have but between the two, it's pretty much everything you need for quick cuts. Well worth supporting the developer financially if you find it useful and can afford it.

The developer is offering it as a paid application for Windows and Mac on their respective stores however he does state that it's open source and will always be freely available. The store option is if you want to support his development effort. Filmora has an article on Open Source video editors here - filmora.wondershare.com/video-editor/best-free-open-source-video-editors.html These will all allow you to do much more than something like LosslessCut. One other very powerful, professional grade editor that is also free is DaVinci Resolve. Hope this helps!

I hadn't tried it but just have and I don't see a difference. I am using the stock configuration, tried output as single and merged, and a few other things. Seems ok to me. This is using the AppImage. I do see an issue on GitHub with one other user reporting the same thing. There are so many variables. It could be format, number of cuts, lots of things spring to mind. Maybe add a comment to the issue letting the dev know you are seeing this too? github.com/mifi/lossless-cut/issues/411

Glad to hear you've had such a great experience transitioning your process to a different set of tools. There is a lot to love about open source alternatives. The trick sometimes is finding them. It's not always easy for the developers to get attention.

I can try. Just curious. Does the order you add them to the app make a difference? I am wondering if there is something in particular about the clip itself that is causing a problem. For the clip that plays at half speed, does it do that if it's the only video? Try adding just it to see. Then add the other one and see if it does the same thing. Not much else I can think of without being able to see it firsthand.

What output format are you using? You might want to try a different type. Which editing software are you using? Some of them have pretty strict requirements on file formats.

Take a look at Avidemux. It has filters which include transforms like cropping and many others.

Yes. Click the setting icon (the little gear at the top right) and choose the output format you want to use. It will default to the same type as the input unless you change it manually.

@@EricAdamsYT Thank you! Is it also possible to export the file but at a lower file size? Say I wanted to export as 720p instead of 1080p (my source file), is this possible? I like having smaller sizes so I can transfer files between my devices

I don't see a way to scale the output in LosslessCut so you'll need to use a different tool for that. I went back and looked at Avidemux and it has many more options when it comes to output. TO do this in Avidemux, import the video, set the Video Output to Mpeg4 AVC (x264), click the Filters button and add swsResize, and set the width to 1280 (it will set 720 automatically). Normally you can leave Audio Output on copy but sometimes you have to set an option. Choose whatever you want but something like AAC should be fine. For Output Format, choose MP4 Muxer. That should get you a 720p video. This is way more complicated obviously so you could choose to still do the conversion in LosslessCut and then use some other option to resize the MP4 file at that point. There are websites that offer this or you could use a video editor. I'd rather just use Avidemux and do it all in one shot personally but it's really down to what you prefer.

Eric Adams thank you so much! Not to nag you :( but is it possible to add two audio tracks in one video? E.g. having gameplay from the video as the main audio and then having an audio track playing in the background (already sorted out the mixing for it, just need to know how to put two in one vid)

The answer is yes but I don't think LosslessCut is your best bet or this. You are venturing into video editor territory here. Almost any video editor will allow you to add multiple video and audio tracks. You can cut them to different lengths, overlay them, mix them, add effects and so on. There are a number of very good open source options available for video editing and several paid, closed source ones as well. For open source, the most popular is Kdenlive and there are others such as Olive, Shotcut, OpenShot, and Flowblade. For closed source and commercial options, there are Lightworks and DaVinci Resolve. If I were you. I'd take a look at a few of the open source options to see which one makes sense to you and lets you accomplish what you want to do. Good luck and have fun!

Ah, I see. The window is just part of the video that loaded in LosslessCut. That's the viewer portion of the application. I get how it looks like that though.

I think you are saying that you can hear audio from other videos in LosslessCut. Is the mic audio there if you play the clip in a video player?
