Zach Johnson, the “Millennial Farmer” is a 5th-generation farmer who’s spent his life growing, working, and learning on his family’s farm. His wit and dry sense of humor appeal to children and adults alike. A product of the millennial generation, his appreciation of new technology blends with his old-fashioned work ethic, and he offers a unique ability to deliver his message in a way that resonates with lifelong farmers as well as those with no knowledge of agriculture.
With growing consumer awareness about where their food comes from, Zach has identified the need for an independent voice from the front lines of agriculture. Zach actively promotes agriculture by sharing his day-to-day experiences in the agriculture world while providing farmer-to-farmer education to help facilitate a collaborative conversation between farmers and the public.

What I have learned from watching the Millennial Farmer: The folks who farm are HARD working, kind-hearted, and have a passion for the land. They face CONSTANT adversity with determination to keep tilling the soil, harvesting the crops, and maintaining all the equipment. They embrace new technology for the sake of running and having a better farm operation. Farmers are good, caring neighbors. Farmers are our heritage. A simple 'thank you' doesn't seem to say enough, but it is heart-felt and sincere. Thank you to all of our farmers. ❤️️👍💪 P.S. What I said....for livestock farmers, too. 😊

Memories. Back as a kid in NoDak dad bought a big 31 ft cultivator (we called it a tool bar, also known as a chisel plow) that kept losing wheels. Dad figured out that the manufacturer should have put grease zirks (yep, that’s what we called them) in the hubs. So he stocked up on roller bearings, races, zirks etc and taught his number 1 hired man (me) how to pack bearings drill and thread the hubs etc and away I went. Good times. Thanks for the videos, they always remind me of what a fantastic childhood I had.

Mr. Johnson; so many farmers get in a hurry when making repairs that proper installation procedures are not used. May I suggest SKF's Installation and Maintenance for Bearings that will detail proper handling (do not throw bearings around) and installation (do not beat an outer race into position with a ball peen hammer), a dead blow hammer is preferred or shrink the component. It will improve the reliability of the bearing.
@tech99070
@tech99070 4 года назад
I agree, when they did the axle nut I wondered if that was setting pre load on the bearing. If so it really should be torqued to spec. Giving the wheel a test spin can let you know you're in the ballpark but requires familiarity with how the hub feels without the wheel on..

pretty simple case of 'do I know you?' Just remember that everyone can only deal with so many people a day. When you only have about 3 direct neighbors you are more likely to help than when that number is 10 in the same building. 150 in the street. You don't have time nor energy to deal with that many people and their problems each day.

Zach, is propane an issue in northern mid-west, or is it everywhere. This sounds so nuts.

As far as I know there's a propane shortage in Iowa as well

Pretty much whole upper Midwest they reduced regulations on haulers in multiple states because of the shortage mn ia wi nd mo etc

@@johnslife6669 As far as im concerned the hos regulations are a joke because the feds can cancel them any time they feel the need to. So it tells me that the regs are about control and not safety.

If the gas companies would start drilling more gas wells here in Southeast Ohio it wouldn't be a problem.
@Matevz96

I would say that the problem isn't shortage of gas itself but rather delivering it at rates that farmers burn it.

QUESTION ZACH: How many truckloads of LP do you go through at harvest typically?

I have a 1,000 gallon tank at my house for hot air ballooning. On a average flight we use between 65 and 100 gallons per flight depending on how much weight in the basket and how hot it is outside. We use quite a bit less in the winter then in the summer. I think he has a 12,000 gallon tank of propane at the farm and I believe he used 60,000 gallons of propane last year but I could be wrong.

@@nealfigary3288 you would think but they can't deliver what they can't get themselves. I go through 1,000 gallons of LP weekly and now with the weather cooling off I have flights schedule for the morning and at 2 in the afternoon before the sun goes down
