Nature Boy. It's definitely a song you've heard before. Its interpretation by Nat King Cole has become a jazz standard for all time. It has been covered countless times by artists of all genre's including David Bowie, Frank Sinatra, Miles Davis, Sarah Vaughan and most recently Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett. But who is the man behind the song? eden ahbez (lowercase if you please) was a truly one of a kind man. Wearing long hair and shaggy clothes decades before the hippie movement (but not interested in drugs) and dabbling in jazz, exotica, and international music, he created a style of pre-rock psychedelic music that distinct to him alone. To call him a proto hippie is wrong. This is a man who defied all labels, and as previously mentioned appeared years before the acid soaked 60s of Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin. His ideology was all his own, and we was TRULY (and I mean truly) a unique individual in the history of American music and iconography. That is why he should be known by all, and is the focus of this episode of LOST
