Something no one seems to know is that you can navigate by the stars at night. The sky is accurate representation of northern hemisphere so if you can spot big dipper you can locate northern star and get direction of the north. Dayz is based on milsim and its that realistic ;)

A great step that never fails me is using the clouds. The clouds alwags go east and you can see them day/night. Just takes a second to see which way they are moving. Its more like a very light film mobing across. I dont trust the sun cause when i do i keep ending up at the coast

I’m a very new player probably about three hours into the game and I learned quick to join a no K-OS server but it was also RP so I’ve been worried about walking headfirst into a red zone but that message you gave at the end made me feel a little better “ some of us veterans wish we could be lost again” I think I’m gonna try to appreciate the game more instead of worrying about legitimate stuff

i genuinely enjoy this game for the challenge. its not like other survival games where it tells you what to do or how to get around. when i first started playing i hated it because of that reason but i found it interesting and i enjoy learning so i thought i’d carry on with it. i still play it as im still learning on it, thats why i love this game. especially the navigation, that shits hard to learn.

Great video, man. This is a much better method of navigation than the one I use. I still just pick a direction and walk until I recognise something, or die and have to start again... I'm just happy that I can play the game again.

i just started playing. im completely lost every time i spawn, longest i survived for was 2 hours. i was doing great then i suddenly got sick and died. all i wanna do i build a tiny baby base to put stuff in , but im afraid if i do ill never be able to find it again.

I got lost on cherno once in the woods near a dear spawn, I think that character is still out there with an inventory full of meat living in a cabin in the woods i found that spawns 308. for his blaze sometimes. It was a vanilla community server, i say him because that mountain man took on a life of his own, lived long enough to have a beard.

Tbh without izurvive id never know where I was, till i hit stary and the ptsd kicks in lol. Then I know the whole town and how to get to nwaf. Same with groteka and the surrounding area, i seem to remember the places huge gunfights and bad deaths happen.

One thing that helps me a lot is elevation and just looking around. Keeping in mind that on Chernarus, the farther north you go, you the higher the elevation, just run upfor north lol. Idk, seems to work for me.

I always found the void fascinating. I got in offline mode and traveled via flying non stop for hrs north, and I found out a few things: Debug land is at least x10 the size of the playable area and it might even be way more than that. Might not be intentional, but at some point the terrain will lose its collision, and you will fall into water under the map. Forever swimming with no way back.

"Never go into the void" I already have, just never dared to cross 20 meters into it.

One tip I use is... When I spawn and is mid day I go loot the nearest town next to the coast, when I'm finished I go to the coast again I look at the sun and If the sun went to the right that means I'm on the south coast.. now if I look towards the land and not the ocean if the sun move towards me that means I'm on the east coast.

Clouds always blow from the west to the east.

I can make this much easier. Get familiar with any town by a lighthouse and set up a tent with gear in it for future survivors...you know you'll die eventually. If your next person doesn't spawn at or by the lighthouse just keep killing yourself until it does. I have tents by over a dozen spawn locations, never undergeared or hungry/thirsty.

It's not that I step off road, it's that game for some reason throws me in the wilderness when I log back on

LMAO, I just downloaded dayz for the first time a few days ago. Today I followed the coast, then some train tracks, until they ran out and not long after, I ended up running in the massive open plains to ages, thinking possitive 'there will be something on the othe side... #@&% no there's not, eventually had to turn round and run all they way back. Luckily, I'd gafted a lot of food and water bottles to get me through. Hell, I through Tarkov was in-depth, it's got mothing on Dayz.🤣🥶😭🤠

The game keeps spawning me and my brother on opposite sides of the map we can never meet up :(
