DayZ Beginner Guide - Basics, Crafting, Medical, Surviving, Interactions - Starting Out in 2020 

To beginners. List of _must keep_ items when you find them : - 6 rags - Water bottle or canteen (but always empty it when you find it) - Any bladed weapon (Axes are the best) - Side by side shotgun (the ammo is abundant, at least until you get to military weaponry, very versatile and powerful even against full stuffed players) - Can opener - 9V battery - Weapon cleaning kit - Grinding stone - Sewing kit / Duct tape - Rope - Matches / ligher - Vitamins / water purification tablets - Any type of flashlight

My goal was to find Food, but I didn’t. That’s usually my playthrough.

Most of the time when i see a tutorial i get annoyed by it because its to long and the guy is saying things that has nothing to do with the tutorial but you nailed it.This is how you make a tutorial simple and don't drag it out.Thank you for being a normal person.

Am I the only that can't find rocks

Started this game today, 1st game, ladder mishap, broken leg, starved to death. game 2, starved, game 3, starved, game 4, well, you get the idea. I now have figured there's a lot of pear and apple trees with fruits on the ground and zombies have often food on them so now live longer. But this fishing thing shown here is very cool, thx.

Thanks for the guide, I played dayz mod back in the "dayz" and loved the fightfights and meeting people. Wanna get back into it and knowing there's so much survival needed, this guide really helped to get me started again!

Great video, I'm sure a lot of new DayZ players will appreciate this! Just wanted to add some information; You will need to use a sharp object (like a knife or axe) to sharpen your long stick, before you can put the fish fillet on it. :)

I been playing Dayz on xbox for about 2weeks now and love it, really no complaints...when I 1st started out I starve a great few times UNTIL I found the - TREE OF LIFE / fruit trees lol...I then setup a route I would regularly go on that had dozens of fruit trees along the way, I would even pick up the rotten ones and drop them in random places...I hardly ever searched houses for food. Because dayz is a huge open world, wherever I would spawn in at I would stay in that area/town learning where I can find water and fruit trees, "this is home" ... I would venture out from that town but always returning before nightfall...my interest was learning how to craft, I learned a knife is the most important thing for my survival, if I couldn't find 1 I would also be looking for a sledgehammer or pickaxe, with this I could craft stone knives from rocks, then kill a chicken or animal and skin it, also using the stone knives on a big tree for Bark and small stick then crafting fireplace and fire drill kit...as of right now I'm still in Berezino on a LOW POPULATION SERVER...Just a distance from Berezino off in the hills is a area I call home, here in this area I have loot and food and weapons stashed and buried - thanks to the shovel and dry backpacks and also have crops growing fruits hidden away in a dense forest area...ALL OF THIS IS FOR....if I happen to die by the guns of another player or by the hands of Zombies when I spawn in I can locate where I'm at on IZurvive map and work my way to HOME to a area I know and un burry my food and supplies and start a new journey with new character...building a base does not interest me, in fact when people find bases it makes them wanna break in...they will not stop until they have done so lol, for the most part people are friendly on xbox Dayz BUT right when things are peaceful and quite and that 1st bullet hits u from out of nowhere - Fear and terror grip your soul- I played Battlefield and call of duty but on this game gun shots sound Very real and when u hear them from a distance away u can only imagine trouble and danger could be nearby Or when u are looting a town and come across a house that has chopped up human flesh in it, it was enough to give me chills just wondering what had took place here 😯...for this game to be on console is amazing to me, after watching videos on RU-vid I had to go and get this on Xbox lol PLEASE NOTE: IF THIS HAPPENED IN REAL LIFE U ARE LIKELY NOT GONNA BE THE 1ST PERSON OUT LOOTING GOING THROUGH HOUSES LOOKING FOR FOOD. MANY PEOPLE WILL WAIT HOPING THINGS WILL GET BETTER AND WHILE THEY ARE WAITING OTHERS HAVE ALREADY STARTED LOOTING HOUSES AND BUILDINGS, SO WHEN THAT PERSON FINALLY REALIZES HELP IS NOT COMING & THINGS WILL NEVER BE THE SAME, THEIR STOMACH PUSHES THEM OUT THE HOUSE IN SEARCH OF FOOD....AND THIS PERSON IS U WHEN U 1ST SPAWN IN TO DAYZ...HOUSES ARE EMPTY AND RANSACKED, HOUSES WITH DOORS LEFT WIDE OPEN FROM BRAVE ONE'S THAT WENT OUT BEFORE U, THIS EXPLAINS WHY U WONT FIND MUCH LOOT OR FOOD..."MANY WILL DIE" BUT WILL U HAVE THE DRIVE IT TAKES TO SURVIVE?.. IMAGINE SOMETHING HAPPENS ON THE EARTH AND EVERYONE IS FLEEDING TO A HUGH ISLAND IN HOPES OF SURVIVING...JUST BECAUSE U MAKE IT TO THE COAST DOESN'T GUARANTEE U WILL LIVE, OTHERS HAVE MADE IT BEFORE U AND HAVE TAKEN OUT OF HOUSE WHAT THEY FEEL THEY NEED FOR SURVIVAL.. LIFE IS UNFAIR, RAIN CAN KILL U IF U DONT FIND PROPER CLOTHING AND SHELTER, NOT EVERYONE WHO SPAWNS IN OFF THE COAST WILL MAKE IT TO BE A HERO OR VILLAIN, ONLY THE STRONG SURVIVE BUT THIS IS ONLY 1 DAY AT A TIME...THIS IS DAYZ!
