I'm 65 , when Lost In Space was on all of us kids in the neighborhood would watch it, the next day we would play out what happened, i was always John Robinson, those were fun days.
I'm 36 again for the second time I like lost in space better than Buck Rodger with his jumping from a box trailer with this trusted jetpack strapped to back side, rising up n out from the boxtrailer
Hi Larry, I'm 63 from the UK,I couldn't decide who I had a crush on the most Judy or penny.those were happy time's.i always wanted to be will Robinson.👍
Larry Stevenson, I'm 60 and you took the words out of me, in fact as kid back in the day the series was premiering, like every Wednesday evening broadcasting I recall my brother and I hurrying to finish eating our dinner and then go charging into the living room to catch it on TV. But as you say those were fun days hands down....And what's more, considering the lifestyle back in those days was nothing to compare with today, like there were no such things as VCR's, DVD players, Personal Computers etc. those were the days it had kind of a more challenging kind of excitement as in many of us boys back then would be hurrying home from school to tune into many other good TV series alike. And also those were the days when in the evenings you had the whole family in the living room watching TV.
I'm 60 years old, and I remember when I was a kid running home from school. Just to watch lost in space , I dream of Genie and Gilligan's island ❤️ Those were the good old days ❤️
@@pdig2963 Lost in Space is on every Sunday ( early) here in Boston. I’m like a little kid when I’m on the couch watching. ( at 65 years old) it’s a great feeling. Now all I need is some Wrestling,Roller Derby and Some Creature Double Feature ( Who could forget MOTHRA ) and I’m Golden. 😂
Space was an obsession in the 60s, from auto designs to entertainment. We were sure we'd be flying, not driving by 2000. Here it is 2022, and the only thing that has changed is that you can make a right turn at a red light.
In the 60s as a little boy I remember being so fascinated by outer space, astronomy and the TV shows of the time, shows like Lost in space and Star Trek!
Definitely. I was in the same boat, but starting in the late 70's for me. I watched all these shows as reruns back then. This is what got me involved in astronomy. To this day, I'm still watching these shows on MeTV and still go out with my telescope and look at the stars, and a lot of other stuff as well.
@@jerryfelty7374First I didn't tell you that dumbass. Second.... Stop wishing old man because it ain't gonna happen. You have at best probably 20 years left ...loser...lmao....
I was born in 1965. I didn't see the original runs, I saw the repeats. What impacted me was the the science fiction and the family values. GREAT father figure.
what fantastic memories running home from school just to watch the show. It took your mind off of everything. They launched you out into space to explore the universe. brilliant writers actors I wish they made shows like that today. God bless all of you and thank you for the Memories.
This is the first time I have seen an interview with the performers behind the robot character, Bob May and Dick Tufeld (voice). It is refreshing to see they were enthusiastic about their roles and worked together with mutual respect.
Yeah, it seemed rather difficult. They did all their initial dialogue with Bob doing the voice of Robot, but was all dubbed in later with Dick’s voice. That Dick Tufeld voice is one of my fond memories I always associate with the show, also as the narrator in the early years! The Robot was definitely a 2 man team that became one of the favorite characters of the show!
I absolutely loved this show when I was younger. I actually thought it was true and how lucky they were to be able to go to different planets. Than life comes along and someone tells you they are actors and ruin your imagination, but I still loved the show.
My siblings and I loved Lost in Space. Mommy gave us the Robot one Christmas. We squealed like three little pigs. STILL watch on METV. Loved all of them!! 💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛
Loved Lost In Space. There was an innocence offered but also it offered the exciting opportunity of what potentially existed out there. For a six year old kid it was amazing. That was followed up by Star Trek. What a time for a young kid. Plus Marta Krista made this young Male realize there was something special about females lol.
How very true that is! But Angela was no chop liver too, especially the last season when she filled out. I remember in Jr. High school was the only other time I have known another Marta and she was stunning pretty too! Ahhhh looking back, at 60 years old I still remember that well!
Loved this show as a kid here in Australia and have warm and fuzzy feelings even now, "oh the pain the pain" from doctor smith remember it so well, also the fact the star of Zorro the tv series was the father in this show was great. So many fond memories here thank you.
I loved Lost in Space. I however have always been disappointed that Dr. Smith was given the opportunity to take over. The orginal storyline of a family in space using their wits was far more interesting than the comedic direction. Originally John, Maureen, Don and the children were the stars. The lovely relationship between the parents and children were much more interesting than leaving science for bubble headed booby comedy. I so enjoy the original episodes that were the pilot of the show. The spaceship, the sounds, the excitement was all there. The music, the location shots! Amazing.
You were not the only person disappointed that Jonathan Harris' character of Dr. Smith took over the show. Harris admitted, during an interview, that Guy Williams, who was cast as the lead, grew very upset with being upstaged by Harris. As Harris mentioned in the interview Williams was smart enough to stay on the show and take the money; despite his role being reduced significantly. I personally grew tired of the show after it went from 'Lost in Space' to the Dr. Smith / Robot Comedy Hour.
@@markgiardina1303 .. "Yes indeed my dear boy" On a serious note tho' Zachary Smith started out as a scene stealer, then went on from there with his witty bubble headed ning-kum poop comedic stupidity antics, that stole away from the original sci-fi Show, basically he was running the Series and changed so much Shit with the agree-ment/permission of the Show's Producers, that lead to a lot of us Fans to Go watch something else, M.A.S.H was just starting out at the time I think and that was a real Comedy Show and a Great change .. .
I also agree that Harris would ruin the show with his upstagin antics with the robot. It became inpossible to find any drama in the stories once he became the Don Knotts type character with his robot sidekick. Its not even like it was original, it became more like Barney Fife or Gilligan go into space. Characters like Gilligan and Barney Fife work in comedies because otherwise, we all wonder why Andy wouldn’t just get a compitent deputy or why the other cast aways didnt just kill Gilligan within 2 weeks of being stranded? They were comedies, so we accept that without the comic releif, there is no show. Dr.Smith on the other hand is a different story since LIS began as a dramatic Sci-fi series and his character was dark. Jonathon knew this too and knew they would have to kill off his original character to stay dramatic and believable. In deep space with no witnesses, they didnt even have to make it look accidental, evn though that would be easy to do in space. Irwin Allen allowed him to turn it into a super campy drama/comedy for Harris’ job security. I cant believe that Allen let him do that.
I; as a kid growing up in the 70's, loved watching "Lost In Space". It was my little escape from reality. I'm only sorry it didn't last longer than just 3 years it was in production... or that it couldn't give ALL the characters, more in the way more juicier roles, and more for the spaceship. Otherwise I really loved it! To this day, I still love it! My love and admiration to the cast, crew and the production artist here, and gone from us!!! BRAVO!👍🏽
Brian-Brandé Perrineau same with me, I had hopes for the reboot on Netflix, they ruined it with the SJW writing, they ruined the father, no strong male character.
@ Maples01; Maybe it's just me, and my bias against the feature film, and made for T.V. remake, the destruction of the original Jupiter 2, that just killed it for me! I was born in 1964... I was even fortunate enough to even have my father watch the show with me from time to time. I have so many memories growing up during the 60's, and 70's. This show was my escape! *I especially love the all the essentials; Spaceship, Space Pod, Chariot, and The Robot. #OriginalLostInSpace4Ever!♥️
One of my Favorites Episodes on this show was the second From the Third Season "visit to a Hostile Planet" When they accidentally travels back in time to the Year 1947 and the people on Earth thought The Robinsons were Aliens or Voltons I Enjoyed Completely that Episode 😁😁
It seems like there was a whole TV trope revolving around astronauts vs.Ignorant hillbillies. "I Dream of Jeanie" had another episode like that, and some other shows of the late-1960's did too. I wish I could compile a whole list of these types of episodes.
I watched this program with my two brothers back in the sixties. we were absolutely spellbound and would sit watching it like in a trance with our mouths open right through the episode. my mum would have to shout at us just to get us away from the tv because we were so transfixed watching LOST IN SPACE.
Yes very good memories. It was definitely my favorite show had to see it I was born in 1962 and related to both Billy Mumy and Dr Smith. Two absolutely brilliant actors. Without a doubt I miss the late 60’s and 70’s
oh... if you really loved Will... then you will "totally" be "in love" with, "William Prowse." talk about "eye candy..." Check him out, on youtube ! wow ! He has incredible eyes !
@Fly Girl - Me too! LOL ... that is when I developed a huge crush on her, Penny loved episode "Mr Nobody" too. I am 2 years younger than her. Even now at 66 I have all the Amazon prime LIS videos and watch them every year! Semper Fi @USMC 👍👍👍👍👍👍😁
I am 63 , this show still lives with me today. I have the complete series on dvd . Dr Smith was a brilliant character. I have watched the new series but times move on and all things change.
Those were the days. Childhood memories. Just about every kid watched Lost in Space. Every week you had your eyes glued to the tv. Couldn’t wait to see what adventures they would have especially with Dr Smith with his shannigans.
I've heard Billy Mumy impersonate Jonathan Harris in interviews and it's spot on and funny as hell. I was 9 when the series started and had a crush on Angela Cartwright during the run of the show. As I'm sure many little boys did then. Great, campy show that has endured the passing of time.
This was a show that was part of my early years . Yea I know it's corny now but for a while this was my star wars (until it got super silly) . An look , Jonathan Harris made the show fun to watch "every" show. R.I.P TO ALL MEMBERS NO LONGER WITH US AND THANK YOU
Lost in Space was the #1 show I looked forward to every week. Loved the episodes that took place in space. But the show lost its shine when Dr. Smith became a vegetable. Eroded into the ridiculous.
And he was Zorro! Loved in Argentina, where he retired. From the photo here, with the greying temples he would've made a great James Bond. Classical looks, sense of humor, charisma, and could play the action scenes.
Yes- this series was based on morals. No matter how badly Dr. Smith would mess up, to the point of almost getting everyone else killed, John would ALWAYS take him back.
As a child of 6 left to go to and from school on my own, left alone on holidays, LIS was my comfort and escape from an Earthbound sadness into an intergalactic wonderland. Thank you Mr Allen and the cast and crew ❤
On that very first show of "Lost in Space", that show when I grew up born in 1965 when they show on television and that's why I was only 5 years old watching the show and it was the greatest television shows of all time.
I really thought they were really lost in space.. It appalled me that they were so far away with no hope of return. Add the threatening music and I was mesmerized. Dr Smith really unsettled me. Amazingly powerful programme for impressionable young kids like myself. Superb.
Some of the episodes scared the hell out of me when I was a kid... And some were so funny, I'd laugh my ass off... Now I enjoy watching them with the grandkids and see the similar reactions. We watch on METV
I absolutely to this day love the scenes in the first season with the jet/rocket pack and the music behind it. Still drops my jaw as if I've never scene it before and I am 53.
I remember watching Lost in Space as a kid before I had any interest in Star Trek. I got into ST as a teen, partly because I saw it as a more sophisticated show. However, about two years ago, I saw a LIS episode for the first time since childhood and watching the delightful Jonathan Harris as Dr. Smith and the interaction with the other characters renewed my interest in the show. I am still a Trek fan, but I now look at LIS with a new appreciation. A talented actor can transcend a weak story or script with an entertaining performance. Jonathan Harris was brilliant in developing the Dr. Smith character.
Those were the days, this was an amazing show, i was about 15 years of age when this premiered, very ahead of its time, the robot was my favorite, danger will robinson i will never forget this show.
People forget that Lost In Space preceeded Star Trek SO the budget was smaller and the effects were more primitive. The 1st season of Lost In Space was Black and White! I STILL watch it when it comes on. Marta (Judy) Kristen was absolutely beautiful then and she STILL is. When you read about her story, she realizes how outrageously lucky she was. She's SO humble and appreciative for everything that she got in life.
I sure liked Marta Kristen in Lost In Space. I had the chance to meet her ast a convention and tell her that although she wasn't showcased too often, I paid attention whenever she was!:-)
@@richardranke7878 Trivial pursuit fact: Johnathan (Dr. Smith) Harris and Marta (Judy) Kristen were the ONLY actors who were in EVERY episode of Lost In Space! She may NOT have been featured BUT she got screen time.
I was a fan of Angela Cartwright way back when she was on "Make Room For Daddy." Boy, was she cute, and her line deliveries were dead on. Guy Williams was Zorro, if I remember correctly ...
Back in the late 70's when I was a kid, I loved the show so much I wouldn't miss a single episode, even though it was just reruns by that time. I absolutely hated Dr. Smith, but then again, if that's what his character was supposed to do, he was one heck of a great actor. Nearly 50 years later, Lost In Space is part of the Sci-Fi Saturday night lineup starting at 7pm with a full hour of The Three Stooges, Svengoolie, Batman (1966), Star Trek, Kolchak, and then Lost In Space starting at 1am. Amazing all the time & effort it took to produce this show. Friday's used to be my favorite day of the week. However, over the past several years now it's been Saturday during "Sci-Fi Saturday nights on MeTV. I set up my vintage 17' lava lamp & Fantasia Sunburst 4000 and run those from 7pm until the conclusion of Lost In Space at 2pm. Channeling that generation Lost In Space.
