Tommen had the most subversive death ever. The whole show is about all these families commiting all types of murder and violence to get to the Iron Throne and the man who's sitting on it couldn't wait to give up. Crushed by the pressure. @@SerbAtheist True, Robert not as much. He seemed to enjoy the advantages of Kingship, drinking and whoring and no one with more authority to tell him anything. Only a King, one who doesn´t give a shit about ruling, can live this kind of Life. But he said early on he´d prefer the Life of a sellword, only Joffrey prevents him from doing so. Probably hot air, but it shows that he wasn´t very happy with his role. Joffreys Idea of beeing King was simply he can do what he wants without consequences, which showed to be not true. None of the 3 ever ruled the Kingdom. When i think about it, no King in the show ever really ruled, except maybe Balon Greyjoy.

27:30 - Cercei is probably partly in shock, but she was waiting for this moment for years, after the prophecy that all 3 of her children will die. Maybe she is partly relieved, because waiting for a tragedy is almost as painful than tragedy itself. Anticipation kills the soul.

Yes well said! I came here to say the same. She 100% expected it, because she fully believes in the witch’s prophecy and has since Joffrey’s death. It wasn’t that she wasn’t upset, but it was not surprising to her at this point. It reminded me of those other threads on previous seasons, like the mutilation of Theon, where we're watching something that just doesn't sit right for us for several episodes to characters that I actually believed deserved it. But the more and more it happened the more I wished for that character's mercy. And it even came to the point where I asked myself, why is the show showing me this? Then Ramsey asks Theon to shave him, and Theon doesn't slit his throat. So for half a season I was basically watching how to build a slave, and I must say, I've never experienced an emotional payoff like that or when cersei blew everyone up in any other show or film. I'd say that I enjoyed this episode more, because I never thought that I'd actually root for cersei after the end of episode one.

The sad part about Queen Margaery’s death was that she figured out what was going on and tried to escape the sept but the High sparrow was being arrogant as ever and kept Margaery and everyone else in the room where eventually they all died. Margaery died because of the High Sparrow’s stupidity in the end. The only ones I wanted out of the sept were the Tyrells only because Margaery didn’t deserve to die like that, she just lied for her brother to protect him and I think all she was doing this season was to save him and Olenna. I think her plan was to get her family(and maybe Tommen) out of King’s Landing and just allow Cersei to kill the sparrows herself maybe. I think that was her plan. And Loras didn’t deserve that death either because he was only guilty of being himself. And Mace didn’t deserve to die either because he truly loved his kids and seemed visibly upset when Loras was confessing and he even tried to stop his mutilation. And when Kevan Lannister was dragging Mace out of the sept before it blew up you saw that he didn’t want to leave because he wanted to make sure his kids were safe and wanted to die with them.

I think it’s possible Sansa knew she had Littlefinger in her pocket but I figured she was hesitant to ask a favor from him. In her defense, she did ask Jon not to play into Ramsey’s game. In a way, Sansa beat Ramsey by using his tactics against him. He saw Jon had less men, and he played all his cards thinking he had the upper hand. Then Sansa came with the Vail and blind-sided Ramsey’s army. It would have been nice if it could have been a plan that Jon and Sansa could work out together. But in a way, by using the element of surprise, Sansa was able to use what she learned to beat Ramsey at his own game.

Lovely interaction between Dany and Tyrion, everything about that scene said we're friends. Tyrion didn't even think about standing up when she slowly entered the room, Dany sitting beside him on the cold steps, both voices low and soft, giving Tyrion respect when naming him by standing on the floor so they were both the same height. Whether Jon had known about Baelish or not, Ramsey would stilll have baited him into early action using Rickon. Their plan had already been to lure Ramsey to them and it failed because Jon got emotional, not because they didnt know about Sansa's army. That part of it all would not have changed and had nothing to do with Sansa. It worked out better that she saved a playable card for all the emotional bullshit to be over with or she might have lost her army along with Jon's when he ran forward and forced his own men to abandon their original plan because Ramsey played with him... which by the way, Sansa warned him he would do and he dismissed her. Can you blame her for not wanting to give away all her secrets at that point. Kinda seems like he wont take her seriously either way.

Furthermore, the advantage that the Knights of the Vale had was their horses. Ramsey had horses too, which would have neutralized the advantage of the Knights. It is only because the Knights were held back that Ramsey freely committed his own cavalry early in the battle-- and then rained his own arrows down on his own cavalry. Until Ramsey sacrificed his own cavalry, the Knights of the Vale could not have had their overwhelming impact. Sansa learns from the people she has been imprisoned by over the years. She's learned from Cersei, she's learned from Baelish, and she's learned from Ramsey. She had to let Ramsey spring his trap, whatever that was, before she could spring her own. Jon would never have agreed to the tactic because it wasn't forthright and honorable (not in regards to Ramsey but in regards to his own men he would be sacrificing). And they would have lost. She had to hope that Jon could hold his own until Ramsey sprang whatever trap he had. There was some risk in the timing, but much must be risked in war.

yeah, agree 100%..I feel like if Jon had listened to her, or at least didn't dismissed her like she was talking b.s she might have confided in him about her plan, but because she saw he didn't cared she kept close to her chest, wich to me was the right move; Jon was always going to fall in Ramsay's trap because of who he was, I find it amusing that when he's talking about the strategy he says in a very confident way, that when he challenged Ramsay he wanted to see him lose his temper and sort of test him, when in reality Ramsay was the one that had him all figured out in a single conversation, by that brief exchange he knew how to toy with Jon, how easy it would be

I think Cersei kinda hardened herself because she knew all her kids was going to die, it was foretold by the lady in the woods when she was a kid. I think she didn't 100% believe it at first but by this point almost everything the woman told her came true. Also, did you notice this is the first time Tyrion took a knee for someone?

On the opposite spectrum of the Jon Sansa rooftop scene is the Godswood scene. People have been asking Baelish "what do you want" since S1 and Baelish has been answering "Everything, dear. Everything." since S1. This was as close to seeing the inner Baelish as it will get. That conversation seemed to lay down the foundation for a power struggle in the North between Zombie Jonathan Targ and Dark Phoenix Sansa. That was a big speculation going into next season and the trailers played heavily into it.

I don’t get why people don’t feel too saddened that Tommen died. Granted he was weak but he still was a good person and had a pure heart of gold, no different from his sister Myrcella or Shireen. And people pitied those deaths right? So why pity Shireen and Myrcella’s deaths but not Tommen’s at all when he was just like those characters? Or eerily similar to them.

It's difficult to keep his innocence and youth in perspective after his consistent bad decisions this season. Also, just in this episode alone, there are so many deaths...he just kinda adds to the body count. I don't have enough emotion to spare lol But in hindsight, it's totally a drag. He was a victim, and a child on top of it all.

Not sure why you're still blaming Sansa for Jon's mistakes. Jon was the one who decided to bring a giant into a battle and didn't bother to create a strategy to use that giant (giving him huge logs or stones to throw from a distance for example). And Jon is the one who decided to completely scrap the battle plans by riding out into the middle of the field by himself... which forced his cavalry to enter into the battle unexpectedly and ride into the hell of Ramsey's trap. Jon was warned by Sansa that Rickon was doomed and that Ramsey would be setting a trap for Jon. Jon didn't listen... and many men died.

I think they both made bad choices. Jon certainly for the things that you mentioned, but why didn’t Sansa tell Jon that the Vale would show up? He definitely could have delayed the attack until they were closer, and he was lucky that they weren’t a few minutes later, as Jon’s entire army could have been wiped out
@NovaLena22
@NovaLena22 2 года назад
@@dmidkif I don't think she knew they were coming. We never saw her receive a scroll. And in her talk with Jon the night before the battle, she certainly wasn't acting like someone who knew she had an army coming. She was pleading with Jon to watch out for Ramsey, and she was scared to death. Her last words to him were that she was not going back there alive. That's not how someone speaks when they know they have a pocketful of aces.

@@NovaLena22 I’m pretty sure she did know, given that she apologized to Jon about not telling him.
@NovaLena22
@NovaLena22 2 года назад
@@dmidkif I thought about that. But it's not really conclusive. She could have meant that regretted not telling him before she sent the Raven to Baelish. Undoubtedly if she had told him then, it most certainly would have been a game changer. They would have at least had more time to devise a serious plan. But her apology does not indicate that she knew the army was on the way. And the fact that she did tell him that she was sorry, and also told him that she considered him a Stark (not to mention future episodes where she defends him) tells me that she was not being deceptive in any way. The most you can really accuse her of is being is overly cautious.

Yes Major, I was waiting for this reaction. This is my favourite GoT episode,the first 20 minutes were just amazing. Cersei finally got her vengeance. And what a dish of revenge that was. All season we’ve been wondering how Cersei was gonna get out of this mess. And boy, she really showed them that a Lannister ALWAYS pays their debts, Tywin would be proud! I feel bad for your girl Margaery, but she moved too slow against Cersei, she of all people knew who she was dealing with. She had to have known Cersei would do something to get out of the trial. But she realised too late. As for Tommen, Cersei didn’t seem as upset as she should have because as much as she tried to protect him, she knew all her children would die before her, the witch told her that in the Season 5 flashback. So she had already kind of expected it. But what a way to go. Like you said he must have been so fed up in this role, and he knew he could never escape the clutches of his mother. Killing himself was the first decision he ever made as King….and the last!

I think the main reason why Sansa didn't discuss the troop movements with Jon was because she really didn't want to rely on little finger and left it until the last minute, when it came clear to her they wouldn't be able to handle it by themselves.
@noelbernabe8704
@noelbernabe8704 2 года назад
While I think that everything you said about not wanting to rely on little finger if at all possible is 100% true, I think the MAIN reason (apart from good TV drama) was to keep an ace in the hole after Ramsey played all his cards. The knight calvery wouldn't have been as effective had they showed up at the very start of the fight. But by Sansa springing her trap after Ramsey sprung his, she was able to completely blindside them. It's a super risky plan, but probably the best thing she could have done given Jon was frankly going to run blindly into the fight anyways.

Alot of people seem to miss this, in an earlier episode Tommen tells Cersei "I should have pulled the sept down on top of all of them" He gave Cersei the idea, he thinks the whole thing is his fault, not only cause he didnt act, but because he unknowingly birthed the plan. It wasnt too much after Tommen said he should have pulled the sept on top of them that Cersei asked Qyburn about the rumor of the wild fire, the timeline matches.

Why Sansa didn't tell Jon about the Vale: Look at when the Vale arrived. They were only used when the battle was more or less lost. Why? She didn't want to be indebted to Littlefinger. She didn't want anything to do with him if she could help it. You said they lost many men because she didn't tell Jon. Those men died because Jon was a poor commander. Instead of returning to his army, he rode into the opposing army, solo. Forcing his army to scrap their entire strategy, give up their advantage and charge to protect him. How many died because of his rash actions? Seeing the battle was lost, Sansa swallowed what pride she had and sent for Littlefinger against her better judgement but Jon left her no other option. She knew the control Littlefinger would have over them but she did what had to be done.
@noelbernabe8704
@noelbernabe8704 2 года назад
While I agree that she didn't want to be indept to Little Finger, I actually think withholding the knights until later in the battle was a strategic move. A risky one to be sure, but one which gave them the upperhand. The Vale were so sucessful because Ramsey forces were completely blindsided by them. Had they showed up earlier, their charge would have been less sucessful. Jon falling into Ramsey trap allowed Ramsey to fall into hers. Maybe I'm giving Sanssa a bit too much credit, but I just think she was able to anticipate both Jon and Ramseys moves and acted accordingly. She predicted Jon would screw things up quite frankly, and had to compensate.

@@Sinewmire It was never about Sansa wanting it to be "her victory," ya'll literally made this up in your head to demonize her. Ya'll straight up _ignore_ Jon's terrible leadership in this episode, to place the blame on Sansa for a scenario we know literally _nothing_ about. You focus on what Littlefingers troops _might_ have been able to do, instead of focusing on the _actual_ issue, which is the battle plan Jon _abandoned_ to try and rescue a dead man walking (Rickon). Instead of trying to invent reasons why Sansa is to blame for all these losses, let's talk about _Jon_ abandoning his battle plan and how him _not_ losing control of his emotions and running recklessly into battle could've saved all those lost lives you guys keep putting on Sansa. Of course, _that_ would involve actually _blaming_ Jon for something, and ya'll can never do that, best to blame Sansa instead, even when it makes zero sense to do so.
@Sinewmire
@Sinewmire Год назад
@@roseofthegarden_ except I never did any of that. I just said Sansa wanted it to be her victory, not Jon's. She undermines him at every turn, and she's probably not wrong to. Jon is a good man, and an idiot. Even if Jon had followed his plan and the battle had gone well, the same thing would have happened. Why else wouldn't Sansa have told Jon about the Knights of Arryn? If there was even a chance they could show up, she should have told him. I actually really like Sansa, I just wish the writers had been better - the reason Sansa didn't tell Jon is that it made for more dramatic TV, and they probably didn't even notice that Sansa was constantly undermining Jon.

In my opinion, Sansa asked help from Baelish, with a raven, but she never got an answer back, because the whole timing of this was literally "a last minute thing". That's why the Vale was late to arrive. If she had received an answer back, then Jon Snow would have known they can't hide ravens arriving that easily. Apart from that, asking help from Baelish, guarantees nothing. Sansa knew this. She gambled on this yes, hoping his love for Cat would make him play her game, but can you know for a 100% certainty that Baelish will deliver ? You never can, we all know what a snake he is and Sansa did too. It was more like a desperate move, but one she had to take as she had nothing to lose at that point. A risk and a gamble, but hopefully it payed off. So while she did ask for help, she never knew if the help would arrive for sure, hence it would only complicate things further if they actually "depended" on this army to arrive and then it never arrived. Its in fact better that they didn't know, because they had to do their plans with what they had and be realistic about things. You can't rely on a Gandalf falling from the sky. The Vale army had a good possibility to either arrive too late to matter (after the war was over), or simply never come to help in the first place. It did arrive and they did win, but that was never a certainty... Don't take things for granted, especially on anything that concerns Baelish. Just my two cents.

the central conflict between Sansa and Jon is that Jon believes everyone is as honourable as the Starks and thus expects the fight to be fair while Sansa doesn't trust many people and keeps her plans to herself. Sansa did tell Jon they should wait and petition more houses while Jon was so focused on getting Rickon that he wasn't willing to wait. When they work together Sansa and Jon make a good team because of his fighting and tactician background while she knows how people in power (Little Finger, Ramsey, Cersei, etc.) think but when one (Jon) doesn't listen to the advice of the other (Sansa) you end up with the disconnect in strategy
