My hair fell out like that a couple of months before I found out I was in renal failure. I’ve been on PD since September 2022 and it grew back like rapunzel. I would reach out to your doctor to see if they need to adjust your meds. Please keep us updated! Btw you are gorgeous with long or short hair ❤
I started watching your videos because a real close associate of mines have to do kidney dialysis so I'm doing research to as well stay strong baby you got this you came a long way you're strong woman God bless you both
I love the transparency. The fact that you are extremely beautiful with short hair omg!!! Like geez you cam wear a short cut. Your hair will grow back for sure. It needed to be cut to have a new start.
Hi Dawn I just came across your channel today while researching Peritoneal Dialysis. I’m having my hernia fixed on Monday before I can have my PD catheter installed. I was glad to find out that you did have a transplant and wish you the best of luck. My transplant is on its final days after 32years. Will be watching more of your posts but I’ll have to do it a few minutes at a time the whole process causes minor panic attacks. Thanks for sharing. Kevin Cassidy
You are. Pretty w hair or no hair. You are pretty from the inside. The best gift is youe new kidney, congratulations. The hair it will come back. Take care 🌻
I had COVID in September of 2021. I continue to lose my hair. I really struggle to process my hair loss. I have given up mobility to RA and Diabetes, but my HAIR bothers me the most. It’s crazy! You are gorgeous and an inspiration. Thank you for sharing your experience.
I am always appreicative of your vulnerablility. You are beautiful and in this video I can see your mother in your face. Can't wait to see you on the TV Screen again or the big screen.
I had kidney transplant April 2022. It is the tacrolimus, which is causing my hairfall, especially if the level is too high for my target level. Which was also confirmed by my nephrologist. I have also been watching other vloggers complaining the same thing with tacrolimus hairfall side effect. However as time goes on hairfall would be lessened as your body have already adjusted to to Tacrolimus. Which happened to me too. Furthermore, I was also advised by my nephrologist to take biotin/ collagen, which is a huge help especially when I started taking collagen tablet. My hairfall issue had stopped after 2-3 months of taking collagen and I also noticed some new hairs starting to grow. However consult first your nephrologist if you can take biotin or collagen or any other supplements before taking it. I hope sharing my experience would help you! Good luck!
Hi!! Hope u are doing well I have few questions if u don't mind me asking you.. When did you get your kidney transplant? Also what is your tacrolimus dose now and before? When did u feel your body is adjusted to it? I mean how long did it take? Do you still have hair fall or is it much better now? Last thing, could u give the names of the bloggers you are talking about please, I got my kidney from one year and a half and I'm still struggling with hair loss, I believe it's better now but I'm still not sure and I'm really worried so I need to hear and see others experience cause no one will understand what are we going through. Thanks a lot.
@@lauraalfayez8266 Hi, I hope you're doing well too! I had my kidney transplant April 3, 2022, so it's my 9th month post KT now. I noticed my hair fell started around a month post KT. Although it lessened a bit on my 5th month post KT but still hairfall not normal. That's when I consulted my nephrologist, who confirmed that my hairfall was caused by Tacrolimus. My nephro also advised me to take collagen tablet and collagen shampoo/ conditioner too. After 2-3 months of taking collagen, my out of control hair fall stopped. Although I am still having some hair fall now, but I think its normal now. My target Tacrolimus level in the beginning was 8-10 then after 3 months, it was decreased to 5-8. Here are the vloggers I have been following; 1.) Crissy Mac 2.) Cindy Flores 3.) My Transplant Lifestyle 4.) Wendy Copeland I hope your hairfall issue would resolved soon! Good luck!
Oh God I feel your grief. My daughter had leukemia when she was 15 months old and had chemotherapy for three years. Standard risk. She lost her hair like this. She was younger so she didn't notice it but I really did. I remember crying so hard because it was a constant reminder of her illness. I felt guilt and depression too. I blamed myself for her sickness. She is still in remission and I live in fear the cancer may come back. She went to Sick Kids Hospital and they are honestly the best Hospital and the staff and doctors are the best. They answer questions and explain everything. Best hospital in Toronto. I pray for you. I know it's a lot to cope with but it's only hair and your a strong woman. I understand as a woman we love hair but you are beautiful with short hair. It will grow back like my daughter who now has hair long down her back. Blessings
Please use organic castor oil (clear from rite aid ) your hair is shedding from the root, not the same as breaking. It’s a internal matter due to some illness. Also use a shampoo and conditioner with argon oil or jojoba oil. Shedding is a phase and sadly after a illness or medical procedure the body can go through this. It will stop after a few months (sorry) notice you don’t have bald spots because it’s shedding from the root all over your head. Additionally check your iron levels.. low iron can cause hair loss
I was diagnosed with sjogren's in 2008 ever since then I have lost and regrown four heads of hair. The last time was in 2019. My hair was all the way down my back like. It was quite devastating. And now that I've been diagnosed with stage 3 kidney disease I expect it'll fall out again. I go to the doctor next week and we're going to discuss my test results. And get me to a nephrologist so that I can find out what caused my kidney failure. I'm learning how to eat again. It's different and it's good for dieting. Losing a few pounds I can't complain. But I never wanted to have to go through this. I really feel for you going through this at such a young age. I'm an older woman 67 my only fear is that when the time comes I won't be able to do this procedure on myself and I really don't have anybody else to do it. That we'll see how it goes you take care of yourself darling
I forgot to add when mine started falling out like yours. I just cut it off because you're really can't get a comb through it or do anything with it it gets Tangled faster when it's that thin. So I cut mine off like you and it grew back in a year 🤷
My hair actually didn't fall out until after my transplant because of the high dose of medication required during that procedure. And as far as dialysis, with good care hopefully it will be years before you actually need Dialysis if at all. I was diagnosed at stage 4 and didn't need a transplant for 3/4 years and didn't even have to do dialysis during that time. I wish you all the best!
Thank you so much for this video. I'm at 16% and my scalp is crusty and flaky. Going to try the castor oil. I've tried not washing my hair for 4 days which is very long for me. Still flaky and itchy. I've been bald before due to stage 3 cancer treatments. But my scalp was fine. Now it's a mess.
I had twice the amount of hair you had when you were healthy. Until i was 19 it began falling out. When i was 24 years old 90% of my hair was gone. I went to 5 different Dr and they were all useless. They told me it was hereditary and theres nothing I can do. I tried everything and RX medicine and nothing worked until I tried Dermaneedling with minoxidil & prp injections on my scalp. 1 year of doing that basically all my hair has grown back.
Btw I shaved my hair off completely to start over. I did that because it was so strangely from hair falling out at different times, it was so uneven. I shaved it off so it can grow back even & new. I felt so liberating shaving my hair. Consider doing it so it may grow back even. Keep us updated on this hait journey ❤
I actually did this, I documented it in ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-SThqcxEK5Dw.html I agree it has made my hair so much more healthy and was absolutely liberating
I’m new to your channel and I would like to say that you have beautiful hair but when hair is already stressed you should never get a sew in it’ll just make it more weaker it would be best to put on a lace front wig something you can take off at night to let your hair loose thank you for sharing this information you are beautiful with or without long hair ❤
My hair shedded all over for three months after I was had Covid pneumonia. I’d wake up and my hair would be on the pillow. If I touched my hair it would be between my fingers. Sometimes Just sitting I’d feel it fall on my neck.
I had the same thing when I as in the hospital covid pneumonia it stared fall out n the hospital I was there a week that was Feb 21 my har soo thin now I also a dialysis patient
Great Question!! You must be a nurse or Doctor? -Obviously this number has been tapered down over the course of the time that I've had my new kidney and my body has healed. Tacrolimus 1mg (twice a day/"bid") Cellcept 500mg (bid) Prednisone 5mg (once daily)
@@DawnRaven nope I'm not, I had my kidney transplant one year ago as well, you can use viviscal vitamins as they are helpful for hair loss, and minoxdil but it causes facial hair growth so just try to put it on top. For how long ure on 1mg tacrolimus? And is it FK? I mean the brand
