Losing situational awareness like that with today's means is inexcusable. He should have given the dude a number to call (something like 1-800-DONT-FLY)

I’m not sure I buy the argument he was intoxicated (could be, but that’s one hell of an accusation). I think he just legitimately got disoriented, couldn’t differentiate between 29 and 24 and totally flunked it. His petulance just reflects his certainty that the tower is wrong and he is right (rarely a hill you want to die on, but not so rarely that you should just roll over when tower says something that just ain’t so). The rest of it felt like politeness to get the shit out of there without catching a phone number. Obviously a pathetic display, but perhaps not a criminal act.

Controllers phraseology sucks. Giving control instructions without a callsign along with, “cleared Touch and Go runway 29.” Yeah that pilot was disorientated but this guy needs to be better too.

The HF pilot does indeed sound like someone with impaired cognitive function. Might not be drunk specifically, but he doesn't sound like someone who is fit to fly in that condition.

My son’s flight school the downwind follows an interstate but it’s just a few degrees off a true parallel to the runway but that’s just the way all the instructors teach it at this airport. The cross runway tge controllers won’t let small aircraft land on they reserve it for business jets only because that’s who that airports caters too.

Is it possible to have 129HF traced to destination and have someone meet him upon exiting the aircraft? I know people are busy in ATC but this guy was either under the influence or having a diabetic incident/medical situation. In any event, it would be in everyone's best interest to get him checked out.

I bet he was trying to show off for a passenger and tried to minimize his deviations with ATC. Kudos to the controller for keeping his cool. That would have been frustrating.

Incompetent pilot not suitable to hold a licence. Total disregard for safety, airfield procedures and standards of radio calls. Should have been reported and licence revoked.

Pilot sounded like he was experiencing some lingering effects of marijuana intoxication. Probably had his medicinal cannabis card pinned on his backward baseball cap.

This is my home airport. Runway 24 and 29 intersect at their thresholds which can cause confusion because pilots are looking at the same spot on the airport for both runways. You really have to look out the window AND keep an eye on your heading to fly the reciprocal heading to ensure you're on the correct downwind. From his radar track, you can almost see his "thought process" as he is 100% visual and getting confused.
