While personally it is up there on my favourite show music due to it's attachment to the story I like. It can't stand on it's own I feel however just on music alone compared to some of the classical greats.
@@garethlawton5278 eh idk about that. It’s popular enough that a top ten Drum Corps has used it as their ballad. I think if you played “Moving On” for anyone without them having any background they’d all have a strong emotional feeling.
Lost redefined Tv for the better. It was one of they first shows that you couldn’t miss a single episode. It would’ve blown up the internet in todays world
I love how the series started with Jacks eye opening in the jungle and ended all these years later with Jacks eyes closing in the same way. A great deal happened in between, from mysterious to the self explanatory. There are no definitive "answers" in life. Many of life's queries are left up to the individual to answer in their own way in their own time and time is relative.....and pointless.
In the opening scene of season 6, on the plane in the flash sideways, after the plane experiences some turbulence, Rose tells Jack "You can let go now." A lot of people think Rose and Bernard in the flash sideways were "woke" from the beginning. They had reached their peace living together on the island and they were already ready to move on.
That makes sense, especially when you consider many of the waking moments take place when people encounter their loved ones, and Rose and Bernard are already together on the plane.
If you watch the final sequence, where it cuts back and forth between Jack dying on the island and everyone gathering in the church in the flash sideways, it almost looks as if Jack is seeing the events in the church as he lays down to die. In the church, everyone sits down in the rows of pews which look a lot like rows of seats in an airplane. Christian Shephard opens the doors and everyone "moves on". At the same time on the island Jack smiles as he sees the plane leaving the island and his friends in the plane "moving on".
I heard when jack died when he wakes up it's on the plane of the series finale. But with Juliet when she said it worked it was the same time her and Sawyer remember each other so your theory is possible
I'm sure someone explained it in your patreon, but the MIB was able to be shot/killed because of the cork of the island being removed and the light being turned off.
I like the idea that Vincent is like a guardian angel. Theres a scene in the pilot when Jack Kate and Charlie set out for the front of the plane, and Vincent is watching them from the treeline. It was kinda creepy when I first saw it, but it all makes sense in the end.. he was looking after Jack:,) such a great show
I thought you'd like the ending, so I'm happy you did. And yeah, we got answers to basically everything. The finale is always such a tear-fest, it's so emotional. Best show ever.
its only now i noticed the mib sealed his own demise. he tells kate earlier to save her bullets as she is wasting them on him. thanks to that bit of advice there was one left for him later lol
Also watching lost a second time is almost as good as watching it the first. You get to understand literally everything about the small details, hidden plots, every mystical aspect of the island is understood so the viewing is very different
My favorite show of all time! Thank you for your reactions. A common theme of the show - and the key to the ending - was first uttered by Jack not long after they arrived on the island: "if we can't live together, we're going to die alone." After their long journey, these troubled and flawed characters died together, no longer lost. Truly beautiful.
I finished lost when I was probably 13-14 and I balled my eyes out, I was seriously dehydrated from all the slobbering. Still has the same effect every time.
LOST has brought me profound amounts of joy for over a decade now, and watching you experience it for the first time brought me right back to that place of deep gratitude; For the show and for the fandom. You, sir, are the exact type of human I want this show to find. You’re smart and witty and you watch with a vulnerable heart and a non cynical spirit. Thanks for sharing your adventure. Hope to cross paths one day and thank you properly in person.
Keith it's been an honour to rewatch Lost with you! Please give Dark a chance, it's only 3 seasons long, a masterpiece from the begining till the end and has just as many mindf...cks and genius moments like Lost. Great reactions Keith 💙👍 Yes, upon( multiple) rewatching you'll find so many clues, we still do even today.
That ending will always be the most powerful and beautiful ending to any story ever... that in the end, our heart can find its way back to the most important memories and people in our lives, that we all had a purpose in making our lives better for one another and when all is said and done we never truly die alone...
The journey, the island, the mythology, the character growth and connections, the music, the parallels... the end. LOST will forever be one of the best TV series EVER! ❤
Just cried with you, brother... for the 100th time 😄❤ and I just KNEW you would get the emotions and be fullfilled. I have the same feeling: we do get enough explanations, even if not thoroughly.
Most emotional end of series ever and "Moving On" by Michael Giacchino is the most beautiful, emotional, sad and hope and happy and nostalgic at the same time soundtrack ever. Everytime what i see this cap im breaking down.
I never understand why people misunderstood the ending or disliked it and some people they were dead the whole time. But Christian explains everything very clearly in a that scene. I think is its such a great ending. And same with me, first time i watched it i liked it but every other rewatch i keep liking it more and more. I think the ending is awesome and i always tear up multiple times watching this finale. And yes people complained they didn't answer everything. I think everything except 2 minor mysteries everything was explain. Maybe the answer was not given to you in your face. Some answers were spread out over multiple episodes and seasons, some answers you have enough information to derive the answer from the information you have. But you do need to pay attention to this show, if you are watching it with half-attention and don't think about it once its over i can understand how people were confused. But if you invest yourself into it and pay attention i think you can get the full picture that Lost painted of these characters and this mysterious and mystical island. And great way to mirror the first scene of the show to the last scene. This show had everything for me adventure, mystery, drama, sci-fi, fantasy, action, humor, twists, reveals, shocking moments, emotional sad and happy moments, great cast and acting, great music, dialogue, variety of themes covered like religious themes, philosophy, science etc. To this day i have yet to find a show that i like more it set a high bar to pass, few shows came close but have not passed it.
Thank you so much for the Lost reaction series! I enjoyed watching every single episode with you. Just finished today. :-) You are so wise. You guessed right so many times and your ideas are just brilliant. So looking forward to listen to your final thoughts about Lost in next episode.
Seen the show fully through five times now.. Jack dying by Vincent, Not Penny’s Boat, Jin and Sun’s death, Claire recognizing Charlie.. I’m a emotional wreck every time. I never felt this attached to any show’s characters.
Thank you so much for sharing your journey with us! I am so happy that you acknowledged that all the answers are there. Not necessarily spelled out for us, but all the clues and inferences are there to come to reasonable conclusions. This is one of the things that have given the show such a long shelf-life. Here we are decade+ on since the finale, and we can all still debate all of our theories and ask even more questions.
I cry at the ending every time. One last stop on your LOST journey, the Post episode - "The New Man In Charge". thanks for doing a wonderful job reacting to one of my favorite shows of all time.
Thank you sir for all your laughs and your tears that you shared with me, with us. It was a fantastic trip during these 2 years. See you in another show, brotha. 😊❤
Some theories go because of Jack bleedthru, from episode 1, gave us clue that whole sideways "timeline" starts when Jack died but it follows from episode 1 side by side and you simply don't know till the end and then you can make theories, I agree with theory that what we seen from sideways was starting when Jack died, that is why he had bleeding even in 1st episode of season 6, while on island he wasnt cut yet on episode 1.
One fun thing to think about is what happened to "the Ajira Six" (Kate, Sawyer, Claire, Frank, Miles and Richard - the six survivors who flew off the island at the end) after they made it back to civilization. How did they explain where their plane had disappeared to? What happened to the other passengers? How did they pick up survivors who weren't on the plane when it left? And one of them, Kate, was also one of the Oceanic Six who the world knows survived a plane crash several years earlier - what a weird coincidence.
I thought I had seen every LOST reaction series until I stumbled upon yours. Your reactions to this wonderful show have been an absolute delight to watch. You are someone who so clearly understands the themes of the show and how the story is really more about the journey that each character goes on. Absolutely amazing stuff.
I've seen this finale 30 plus times and I've balled my eyes out every time so you're not alone 😁 I could never understand the people who hated this finale because ultimately the show wasn't about an island and the mystical elements, the show was about characters, emotions and us caring deeply about these amazing characters (and actors)....I adore this finale with every fibre of my being and will fight anyone who disagrees 😄 Glad you agree 😊
Thank you so much for this reaction series. I've been watching it since it started and it took me 15 years back when I was watching the show for the first time. Loved your analysis and comments, you made me notice things and connections that I've never noticed before myself (and I've rewatched the show many times). I wonder if someone's gonna make a compilation of things you've predicted way before they've happened in the show (and there was a bunch, hehe).
When the light went out, the man in black, smokey, lost the bond that kept his spirit locked to the islands light. He lost all of the powers he had which were just the power of the light. Therefore his immunity to damage was gone, he realised this when he was bleeding from the mouth after jacks punch. Jack knew he was right, he was the ruler, he felt that what the man in black would do would mean Jack would kill him.
When Lost began, the tv company was looking for a cross between the Tom Hanks film Cast Away and the Survivor series, both huge hits back in the day. The casting and script was hit-and-miss, like Hugo was supposed to play Sawyer, Ben was a 4 episode character, etc. But the writers had the basic premise of the show and worked their way onwards from there (successfully). They said they ran out of back stories and some bits were too expensive to produce. And that all the answers would be in the show, unlike Sopranos which ended weird. When I started at 'Pilot' episode I made the connection only to Tintin comic 'Flight 714 to Sydney', which the writers admitted was their starting point and favorite Tintin (mine and Herges least favorite) and Stephen King (supernatural, horror, survival, 'It', 'Langoliers', Dead Zone', 'Dark Tower', 'Tommyknockers'), another writer favorite. I also wondered if people still draw maps to check the journey on the island like we did when I was a kid with 'The Three Musketeers', 'Treasure Island', etc. Well, the allusions kept piling up, and the fan base grew.
Now that you have seen everything, i can explain to you the reason Locke was able to die after the light was extinguished. Its because he became human again, his body became real and he was free.
Im glad you liked the ending! It’s so tear jerking, right?!? There’s a couple of songs about this show from some official Lost facebook page that would comically rundown the episode that aired that week. They’re called Lost Untangled: Locke’d and Loaded, and Lost Untangled: Lessons of Lost. I think you might enjoy them and you can find em on RU-vid. Thanks for the reactions!
Such a wonderful show and finale! I'm glad you enjoyed it also! I think you were spot on when you said everything was answered, just not explicitly/spoon fed the answers and clues. I think some people don't like it because it doesn't give those straight answers, and I get that too. I think making a show thats so deep on lore, and interpretive in meaning is what makes this show SOOO unique from any other and so amazing!
I did a rewatch of Lost and I notice the Monster slowly tried to take out our main characters. Like there was a S2 ep where Dave was telling Hurley to jump off the cliff. That was def the smoke monster! I also think for sure it was the smoke monster posing as Alex telling Ben to follow Fake Locke.
I have enjoyed watching you take this journey. I love this show and I love the ending. No matter what you believe in, i have always thought this ending was lovely and full of hope.
Go back and compare the dialogue from Sawyer and Juliet's meeting at the vending machine with Juliet's death scene in 'LA X'. It proves what Christian says about the timeless nature of the sideways: "There is no 'now' here"
If you're looking for other Lost bits to watch aside from "The New Man in Charge" check out the plane crash in real time. It's a very well edited video of all the various points of view of the 815 crash. If you're looking for a new show to react to, and want some more Michael Emerson awesomeness then I highly recommend Person of Interest. Glad to have taken this journey with you. Until next time!
@AlicePlays Reactions - didn’t you notice that when Jack hit fake Locke after Desmond had removed the plug and the island lost all its powers, fake Locke started to bleed which told us that he was no longer a smoke monster, so fake Locke had been returned to just an ordinary human being which meant that he was now vulnerable and could be killed by anyone, including by the last bullet in Kate’s rifle?
The perfect reaction to a perfect show. Thanks so much. I am in bits being reminded and watching you. Yes, you did come back around in my recommendations and yes, I did rewatch you reacting, glutton for punishment and emotion.
So glad you finished and enjoyed! Great that you are watching other reactions and their interpretations of the finale. I especially loved The Normies, Fear of Reactions TV2.0 as well as your reaction. I will try to send info along of my spinoff in a detailed video at some point. Until then enjoy all the extras! Congrats dude! You are officially ready!
Aside from new man in charge, I also really recommend the bloopers they’re hilarious. I’d love to see maybe a video of just reacting to a bunch of all the extra stuff, new man in charge, bloopers, etc. Also MIB becoming vulnerable after the light went out was the shown in the early scene when he gets blood on his lip after Jack tackles him. “I guess we were both wrong”. So that’s presumably why bullets worked on him. I did think it was a bit of an anticlimactic end for him but it did kind of make sense. that was pretty much my only problem with this finale though. Aside from some really minor things, like the tree falling on Ben being kind of a pointless scene, and Aaron’s most important time in his life being when he was a literal baby. (Although what you said about him being a construct does make sense) But those are basically just nitpicking for no reason
The scene where the tree falls on Ben is really important in an understated way. Ben's instinct is to push Hurley out of harm's way...and the tree therefore falls on him instead. This tells us that Ben is now putting others before himself and has changed for good. Without this scene, we would still be mistrustful of his offer to help Hurley undertake his new role.
Now that you have finished LOST... you should seek out the TV series "Wrecked" which is a parody/lampoon of LOST and the things that happened on LOST. After following your LOST reactions I think you would really enjoy a good laugh and have fun spotting things from LOST that they are making jokes about.
Holy crap, everytime I watch this finale I cry. This is the first time I didn’t give in and I managed to hold it in. Still extremely sad. I still remember being so sad the next few days after finishing the series. Hopefully you watch more shows that I’ve seen so that I can join you.
I would love to see your reaction to SyFy's "12 Monkeys". One of the best time travel shows out there. Or you can stay with the work of Damon Lindelof with the amazing HBO's "The Leftovers".
@@DarrellPringle As amazing as that's going to be to watch, poor Keith. We're really putting him through the emotional ringer! Hopefully he does take the time to watch Lost bloopers and other lighthearted/comedy segments in between.
This popped up on my home screen. So, I watched it. First of all, your reaction was spot on. Again, I cried. I cry every time I watch The End. Second, you blew my mind when you said you think the MIB was not the Black Smoke. Head exploded. I had to pause for a minute to think about that concept. Like maybe the Black Smoke may have been manipulating the MIB the entire time. Good concept. But, I'm going to stick with the MIB being the "black smoke thing". Anyway, great reaction. I will look for more from you regarding Lost. Which is television brilliance, lightening in a bottle pure perfection.
The main question for me is whether the Man in black died when he went down the hole and the smoke monster, which already existed, took his form...or...The man in Black left his body by going into the light and became the smoke monster instead.
This was a show about characters and connections between them, to the point it was jokingly highlighted in the untangled song for "The End" ("The leader we loved and the monster we hated, like everyone else they're super related" as they showed Jacob and MiB as newborns), so odds are he became the smoke monster; a pre existing smoke monster that simply stole the appearance, connections, leitmotiv... from Jacob's brother would go completely against the philosophy of this story.
Is it me or is Lost making a comeback in 2020/21? Lots of RU-vidrs are going back to it or watching it for the first time. So glad you've got to experience this amazing show :)
Every single naysayer should see this. I have never seen a better reaction or analysis of a first watch and subsequent watches. Just spot on... Bravo......
I've absolutely loved watching your reactions to each Season of the show and I loved your reaction to the ending as well. My favourite interpretation of the mythology of the show is that in the universe of Lost, when somebody dies on Earth, their soul needs a way to get to the Flash Sideways, which is the first stage of life after death, and the light from the Heart of the Island, is the energy that a person's soul uses to get there. The light has existed eternally, and it flows from the final stage of the Afterlife, through to the Flash Sideways, through the Heart of the Island into Earth and then into every human. When the cork is pulled out, it closes the window that the light needs to pass through to get from the Flash Sideways to Earth. I like the idea that the last shot of the show where Jack closes his eye, takes place just before the scene in the plane at the very start of Season 6. As for what the Black Smoke is, I really like the interpretation explained brilliantly by other people in comment sections of these reaction videos that the Man In Black and the Smoke Monster are two separate entities. Maybe in the same way that the Smoke Monster pretended to be Christian, and pretended to be John, the smoke monster could have also just been pretending to be the Man In Black, in order to try and gain sympathy from Jacob to trick him into letting him leave. One idea is that the story of the Swan Hatch, particularly the part with Desmond and Kelvin, is a kind of small scale analogy for the origin story of the Protector and the Black Smoke. Maybe in the Afterlife of Lost, there is a council of higher beings, and maybe two of these beings would be assigned to cross over from the Afterlife to the Island, and protect it for a certain amount of time, similar to the way that two people were assigned to push the button in the Swan Hatch for a certain amount of time. One of these beings would be the protector, and the other would be a less powerful being, or assistant, that could appear in the form of black smoke and scan anyone that found the Island to see if they were a threat to the Heart of the Island. When their assigned time came to an end, a different protector and assistant would take their place. Perhaps somewhere down the line, one of the assistants, the smoke monster that we see throughout the show, witnessed something on the Island that caused them to develop a hatred for humans and to lose motivation in their role of protecting the island, so rather than scanning people to see if they were a threat, they began to scan people to determine who they could manipulate into killing the protector, which would allow them to leave the Island and exploit the human race. This is fairly similar to how Kelvin manipulates Desmond by tricking him into not leaving the Hatch, to give Kelvin time to fix the sailboat and leave. There are also a few similarities between the scene where Kelvin dies and the scene where the Smoke Monster dies in the Series Finale. Both confrontations take place on a landscape of weathered rock, and both scenes have Desmond's sailboat in the background. After Kelvin dies, Desmond travels back to the Hatch to enter the numbers, and after the Smoke Monster dies, Jack travels back to the Heart of the Island to put the cork back in. There are lots of interpretations of the different mysteries on Lostpedia so I highly recommend looking at that website.
They made such a big deal of "they're not just dead and in limbo" throughout the whole of LOST that this ending was disappointing at the time. But you're right, this is the 'correct' ending and for me, who watched at the time of broadcast but has never gone back and watched the whole show again, seeing it now just brings back all the great memories of a series and characters I loved. Watching this reaction was like my own moment of 'remembering' and I wanted to say thank you for that. At 12:05 you say "...and he gets what he lost" and I don't know if that was deliberate by either you or the writers of the show but it put a new light on the title of the whole thing. And the music I think can easily stand alone but in the context of the show it's even more beautiful. Thank you for an emotional ride.
