Do you think it would improve the experience if the AI deck had double the amount of tiles, but they were shuffled and only 10 were used each round? That would make the actions less predictable anyway.

Good review Mike! I've played 3 solo games. Set up and tear down was about 25 minutes total. In the first round the A.I. still has 5 or so goes after I pass but by round 5 I get about 5 moves after the A.I. is done. I've only played on the easiest mode (all green cards) and won all three times, lowest was by 15 points highest was by 33) Next time I play I'll be doing all red cards to see how badly I lose. But overall I find it enjoyable while I don't like most games solo mode.

Weird, the fact I know what ai might do next is amazing for me. Best part of the game for me. Also, played around 10 times so far, and I thought, like you, that ai will max out exploration track every time, and it did for first fove times. Than I learned how to play a bit better, and from there on, a couple of times, ai ended on half of it. Great game in my opinion.

Also, I did try to make it more unpredictable with setting all the tiles next to each other with numbers 1-10 underneath, and used d-10 to determine what is the ai doing, and I like it, but still prefer the ai from the book.

Hi Mike, bought this one 2 month ago and only played it 2 players with my wife. It was great, never tried solo tho. I think I'm missing something

Thanks for the video. I've enjoyed my 5 solo games and tried different strategies like balancing research and exploration/overcoming guardians or focusing on one over the other. I found the AI too easy though. In all 5 games at the highest difficulty with all 5 "red" tiles, I lost only once. I think it has to do with the predictability of the AI, as you have pointed out.

I wonder if it would work to shuffle the AI's 10 cards and deal 6 or 7, when those are done you shuffle all 10 and do it again so that it might double up on actions like a person.

Probably going to start the Missing Expedition campaign soon so wanted to get a feel for the base solo game before I did. Does seem like a huge bummer the AI essentially takes the same 10 actions each round. I feel like a better system would be after the rival draws a certain number of tiles (maybe 5?), shuffle all the tiles back into the stack. They still take 10 total actions but at least it’s unpredictable…though maybe this unbalances things if they draw too many pure denial tiles which, from what I can tell, doesn’t grant them any points.

Wish they would release all the print and play stuff to buy. I hate having printed paper mixed in with games.

what if you randomized the AI stack? Put them face down, choose the # of tiles from each section. Then shuffle them. Redo it before every round. You could also just combine all the tiles together and draw from there so you don't know what difficulty you'll be facing that round.

Just played my first game today. Tried it out solo. Playing with just the basic green tiles is way too easy. I killed the AI by over double. Curious to try it out with some red tiles. But the mechanics are great. Very excited to play multiplayer

I've played the solo mode about 6 times and I've found that I have to focus on the research track because the ai just skyrockets up it and gets a ton of points. It's annoying because exploring is WAY more fun than researching for me.
