I don't understand why people want to spoil this show, the fun of watching someone react to this show is seeing their face when Lost throws another WTF moment at them.

remembering back to E3 Walter said to his dad "Locke said he had experienced a miracle" and Walters dad responded with " we have all had a miracle, we survived a plane crash" I'm guessing Locke was referring to being wheelchair bound before the crash.

Losties have a term for this episode called "The Walkabout Effect". Basically, this is the episode that hooks people. I remember watching the first 3 episodes and thinking "yeah, this show is pretty good" and then this episode came on and it was like "yeah, best. show. ever." Glad you're enjoying it! LOST already started pretty solid. But this was the episode that made people realize, 'we're in for something special'! Can't wait for you to see more episodes

Notice all the tips they gave us along the episode: Locke is always sitted in the flashbacks; he mentioned a double amputee guy who climbed the Everest; you noticed how he kept starting at his feet; the wheelchair appeared before, they used it to carry wood.

The wheelchair reveal was the moment I became a Lostie for life. Enjoy the show man. I watched it week to week year to year. So many Easter eggs. Genius series. You are in for a magnificent ride. Best character development ever.

I remember that this was the episode that completely sunk its hooks into me. The scene where we discover that he's in a wheelchair and the transition to the crash site where he can stand is absolute television perfection. The camera circling Locke, the slow reveal, the emotion, THE MUSIC!. Oh, Gosh, the music in that scene just reached inside my chest. I can't wait to watch u learn his heartbreaking backstory (Which u already have but I'm just starting your Lost reaction). I don't normally watch "reaction channels" but you're so genuine and you pick the best shows. 👍❤️

"Mr. Locke said a miracle happened here." Stay unspoilt but come up with lots of theories of your own. That's half the fun of this show.

Walkabout is the 4th episode of Lost, it originally aired 10/13/2004. The IMDB rating as of 5/23/2022 is 9.0, which places it #8 for this season and #24 out of the 119 rated episodes. After this airing, we originally had to wait 7 days until the next episode aired.

After the 2 part pilot episode this was the episode that hooked me. The reveal of Lockes secret is so well done and the music plays its part. Perfect television.

I always tell people that Lost had me hooked by the first commercial break of the Pilot Episode, but I was 100% in it for the long haul once Walkabout aired. The writers do an amazing job of upending your expectations, never pandering to their audience and rewarding you for paying attention (easter eggs abound and storylines with seeds planted in early episodes often payoff many seasons later). The plots, the characters, the music, the world-building, all of it exceptional. Great channel so far and I can tell you're a definite Lostie in the making. One bit of advice for your channel: see if you can fiddle with the volume in the lost episode itself, as the dialogue is sometimes a bit muted. Great job and have fun with your journey!

There is a statistic work someone did that is called "Scientific ranking of LOST episodes" (don't google it now to avoid spoilers - we will keep you informed about it when you will be watching some important episodes.) The author said: "I aggregated the lists from 15 websites that ranked the episodes of Lost". And then he listed ALL Lost episodes in order of received points (starting from most loved and highest ranked.) The Walkabout episode is taking 3d place from the top!

Locke is one of my favorite characters, this episode is the one that really hooked me in.

This is one of my favorite early episodes. Those writers do a great job of twisting you around so you don’t know what to think. And I’m not sure if Sawyer can turn off that charm.

The woman he called Helen on the phone would have been a 'phone sex' type of service where he was paying 89.99 an hour rather than by the minute.

So the way I took it, he was paralyzed from the waist down. Then survived the accident and he can now walk. First time watching aswell.

Probably the first reactor I've heard come up with mental trauma as the reason, interesting. I have a playlist of LOST reactions on my channel, they are all only episode 1 from each reactor, so there would be no spoilers from thumbnails.

ahhh been so long since I seen the first episode :D and this episode you find out john was paralised the waist down for 4 years before the crash and seeing him keep looking at his feet it was like...why?! XD but this episode just got people hooked because this told us there was another reason this island was special :D

Locke says to the walkabout guide that he's dealt with his condition for 4 years. I believe "Helen" is a phone sex worker, though people often call them up just to talk (I know 2 of them personally). Sayid is playing a good muslim who feels strongly about burial over cremation after death. You asked what he did, and he revealed in the pilot episode that he was a communications officer, so he's pretty ideal for rigging up the transceiver and signal triangulation equipment.

I think Helen was working for a phone-chat service, possibly more of an American thing. I dont get the feeling they have ever met, they just talk, charged by the hour. I was never clear whether it was a phone sex chat line which he ended up using for just the company, or if it was specifically a phone-a-friend type deal.

When speaking about Lost, I would tell people at least watch Lost through Ep 4. If you're not hooked at that point, then this show's probably not your cup of tea. This episode perfectly illustrates how this show almost demands a rewatch once you're done. You'll see a lot of clues they laid down about many things you may have missed the first watch, what seemed like throw away lines have a much deeper meaning, your perception of scenes/actions completely change etc.

I know you're quite a ways into the show so this isn't a spoiler, Locke is my favorite character in Lost. I'd want him with me if I were trapped on a deserted island. I love to see reactors watch this episode because most are very skeptical of Locke and don't trust him until this episode. This is still one of my favorite episodes in the whole show.

lol, I've been sitting here for a while re-watching season 1, before we get to The End next week. Yeah, I don't know why I didn't say anything the first time but, Locke was dealing with his 'condition' for four years. So he's been in the wheel chair for four years. It wouldn't have been a mental thing because, if it was, he still wouldn't have the muscle ability to just stand up and walk would he? You changed a bit over time with these reactions. You loosened up a lot after a while.

Will you have some kind of schedule for Lost reactions videos? If you will be scheduling it you should probably know that Mondays and Thursdays are already taken by another Lost reactor most of us are following right now (Neil Talks). Just so you know, for context, when the show was first airing a lot of people were queswtioning whether or not it was super natural or not. There's hints with the mysterious entity in the jungle-but we haven't seen that entity yet. There was a polar bear-but that doesn't necessarily mean that it's supernatural (you can come up with scientific theories in your head). This episode was the confirmation. A guy being permanently paralyzed for years, suddenly walking right after the plane crash. There's no scientific explanation for that. This episode lets you know that this is not an ordinary island or ordinary show.

Something I want to point out that I don't think is a spoiler but LOST is a show that has no qualms with killing off characters you think are vital to the show. This has nothing to do with Locke or any specific character. I just don't want you to not get anxious when a character gets into a life-threatening situation because any character can be killed off in this show.
