The Angel face you see is the Haserot, named “The Angel of Death Victorious". The stoic angel is seated on the marble gravestone of canning entrepreneur Francis Haserot and his family. Holding an extinguished torch upside-down, it represents a symbol of life extinguished. Wings are outstretched and the gaze is straight ahead.
IN THE END, DEATH ALWAYS WINS. LEST THE FACES NOT BE FORGOTTEN...
This channel is focused on casually walking and viewing a handful of the thousands of forgotten names and faces at various cemeteries near and afar. Seeing their faces up close. And when able, telling the stories behind their names.
Most graves are unknown and lost to history.
Some are famous.
And some infamous....
....and some with tragic endings.

Aloha Ron! The collar you pointed out in one of the older photos reminded me of a story my Grandfather Victor told me. In Indiana was where he lived with his family. He was a young man in the 1920's( Born 1890- 1991). He said he wore "Shirt Collars" some men's fashion that kept your collar upright. He said he fell in love with my late Grandmother Jessie as she worked as a shop clerk. He saw her first when he went to buy a shirt collar. She had to climb up a ladder to reach them in the old-fashioned wooden shelving units of their general store. He said her legs were SO beautiful (from the view he got from below as she ascended the ladder), that he returned several times for MORE shirt collars before he asked her to Marry him. 😊

Very hard times in the early 1900’s. So many babies never got the chance to grow up and have a good life. It’s very sad to see this. So much horrible illnesses around at that time period. Another great clip Ron, keep on bringing these peoples stories to life.

This is absolutely incredible how you inlayed these personal stories on to each stone. What a great touch that I've never seen done before. You know, I always watch these full screen on my tv because I get so involved in your stories. They are mesmerizing. I always miss the chat because of that though but tonight I had to get up and come over to my computer to donate because the way you did this just really touched me! Just incredible. This was truly special Ron. To me it felt from the heart, the pictures, stories, and beautiful music, telling the stories of these people. They had the same emotions, highs and lows, joy and sorrows, as we do. This is why you do what you do Ron. Especially touching was the tender age of many, the babies and children, even young adults. Lives cut short, but because of you we heard some of their stories. Thank you Ron and Deb! 🎄❤️💚

Thank you for honoring what can be known of their stories. So so very tragic. How much we take for granted never having to face the kinds of heartaches and fears they have had to deal with. It’s understandable why people had large families. Life was fragile. We are so blessed today. Yes we too have serious issues but not like it was then when it was fairly common to lose several loved ones in a short time.

Wow. Ron, thanks for sharing. When we see these cameos, those that have passed, they come alive. God bless them all! RIP Immigrant stories… I could start with my grandpa Franz S, he came to Canada in 1961, landing at Halifax. He brought with him his family and his car, a Borgwart Isabella, right hand drive from South Africa. He was a fine cabinet maker and a German Ww2 veteran, serving in France as an infantryman in a Luftwaffe field division. Coming to Canada for a better life. His youngest son my dad, died suddenly in 1993. A year that my grandparents never really recovered from. He told me many interesting stories about my great grandparents, and how life was like in Essen after WW1, the chaotic Weimar Republic and the notorious Hitler time. Grandpa died in 2011. Of all the grandchildren I was the favourite. I take care of the family grave to this day. The German community hardly exits in Montreal, Quebec to this day. It is dwindling. But, they are not forgotten. Ruhe in Frieden. RIP ❤

Have you been to Naples? My husband was born in Naples and raised on the Isola di Ischia. Beautiful place! Family live next to one of two island cemeteries. Very small cemetery and none of the graves are older than 15 years. They rent graves for 10-15 years, then exhumed and put them in a family crypt. At night time on our balcony, I could see the light from candles on each grave. Just beautiful.

😅Saw your question concerning grave headstone costs at Mt.Carmel cemetery. 😅Italians are great stone masons. Perhaps the answer lies in the fact that the headstone business was owned by Italians who sold these headstones at a greatly reduced price or long payment plan to fellow immigrants.

My fiancé and I both agreed that this was the best episode of a walk-through that you’ve ever done. The background music and the individual genealogy history really did a lot to keep our attention. I would also like to thank Deb in her genealogy research help. I am positive that it is not an easy task, finding information on people from 100 years ago. We made sure to give both of our accounts a thumbs up for this episode. Keep up the good work, Ron we’ve literally watched every episode you’ve ever recorded.

The music to accompany this video was so beautiful. I will watch this episode again because there is so much information here and the music so relaxing. I'm sad that you'll be moving but I'm glad you've made arrangements to be buried at Mt Carmel and will have a picture of yourself on the headstone. By the time God takes you, I'll be long gone, I'll make it a point to visit your grave in spirit because you should never be forgotten

It would be s shame to see it disintegrate.Thank you, again,Ron.

Yes. I have been looking at death indexes for my family. So many died of pneumonia, child and mother died in childbirth. Pre-natal care was not a thing……i recently went to my families cemetery in WV. I discovered a child’s stone next to grandfather’s stone. It was their baby that lived 8 days. Premature. I never knew grandma lost a baby.

I loved this walk! And Mt Carmel; hope to visit one day. This one with the music and stories blended in was especially moving. I don't find those old photos grim - maybe they had bad teeth back in the day. In contrast to our snapshots and selfies, I find these ovals pull me in. They are like spirit photos, so solemn and soulful. Thank You for a great year and I hope you continue on your journey in the next. Good will and blessings to you and yours in 2023. (Oops I just caught myself typing 1923. lol.)
