Oh. This Kmart caught fire and lost $3 million in property back in 1970. My older sister worked there and she was afraid that she was going to get fired for being late. When she saw the smoke coming from the roof, she stopped worrying and went home. That was back when Kreske owned Kmart and has those blue light specials. 80000 sqr ft of retail space. When you saw the mirrors, in the ceiling, those were for the security to look down through back in the day to catch shop lifters. Those hand driers are really old, as are the commodes. This property is called Mattydale Plaza. All that's left is Dunn tire, the hair cutting school, a bar, a restaurant, the old Goodyear building and the furniture rental place, which is still there. A dollar tree was right to th left of that Kmart. Had to add that.
feels a bit surreal to see this location abandoned, as it was the location I visited for my final Kmart visit ever. The AC was not working at all the day I visited, and it was the hottest day of the year (of course 😂) the employees were extremely nice here, it’s a shame that it was announced to close just 2 weeks after my visit
@@Retail_Adventures_With_Alex Remember the little bubbles on the ceiling and the cameras OUTSIDE of Kmart? They functioned until like October of 2022. Dude, I KNOW, I did the bulk of the demolition there. What a knot
@@Retail_Adventures_With_Alexplus I'm friend's with the manager that was there. Haha😂. He let me in on a lot of secrets. It's not like you were stealing anything you see th wood steps that are cracked when you went up there? I did that by tossing metal shelving down that flight of stairs. Until we blocked it off and tossed everything over that wood rail. A lot of layaway items were there l, along with the bicycle department. I know where EVERY camera is in that place. The ones that were left up, the ones that I personally took down. Next time that you break into a building, make sure that there are no live Cams there. But it was a nice trip down memory lane. Thx
8:05, top of that flight. All additional overstocked shelving and walls were kept there. This is excellent. Somehow, this landed on my tube. Great stuff. Just don't get caught. They took down the dark brown paper that we used to cover up the windows. You must have a really nice pry bar.
@@Retail_Adventures_With_AlexWill check with transformco for you, if you'd like. But actually enjoy the content that you have here. Pretty cool. Don't stop, just be careful.
dude there is some creepy whispering in the beginning of the video atleast until 1:13 in i had to pause and write this its scaring me badddd! i live not far from this place too lol great northern is getting turned into a car dealership, gna be up to like 20 diferent car dealerships on rt. 31
@@AntiqueMeme With a few security cams. Lol😂. I can just have 5 0 look at the footage from the stream based on the 2021 date. It's an empty building. But Transformco, formerly Kmart/sears, still has the footage of when this illegal entry. I like the footage as I did a lot of the demo fof this building.
