The live bottom apron of this Smith manure spreader rotates on 83 different rollers. There is a center frame of 24 rollers that supports the middle of the apron slats that I am rebuilding today. Thanks for coming along on this project.
Spring for mugs, tee-shirts, sweatshirts and hoodies.

Yes. We can all expect large amounts of manure to be dispersed through this fall ...

Very good. We’ve got an election some time this year here in the UK and I think I can promise an excess of manure over here as well. I’m 70 and find it very saddening that the incredible cynicism we have for politicians of any persuasion is so profound. In fact, just the title politician brings to me a definition of someone with no principles, no sense of a promise made is a promise to be kept - but rather someone who will do anything to get and stay in power. A very sad state of affairs. I think it was JFK who said that democracy has many faults but when you look at the alternatives….. just days after dictator Putin proclaimed himself elected too.

And just like magic the 24 rollers are sandblasted and painted. Pretty nifty and it probably took you four hours of sandblasting to get to the finished product. Plus there was painting and waiting for the paint to dry. I think it was really neat how the two roller carriers were pressed together. This manure spreader is a really interesting build. Tuesday afternoon has became real enjoyable for me. Thank You for all you show us. David Adair

I could imagine the production line that made the spreader back in the day. The owner or purchasing dept had to have all those iron parts designed and made. There’s a huge amount of engineering design work involved with that spreader. I could imagine designing it today and having all the component made. It’s a pretty big job!
