I was in touch with Anna Marie Romero, and this tequila is double distilled. It is not triple distilled, which in my opinion is always a good thing, and that's probably why I liked it so much. Btw- I'll be doing full reviews on these products eventually
The paragraph below is copied from their website. So, someone should correct it if it's not 3X distilled: OUR RICH FERMENTATION PROCESS TAKES LONGER THAN THE TYPICAL TEQUILAS. ANA MARIA METICULOUSLY MONITORS THE PROCESS TO MAINTAIN A DELICATE BALANCE BETWEEN TEMPERATURE, PH AND SUGAR LEVELS. ADD IN MOTHER NATURE’S TOUCH WITH THE YEAST STRAINS THAT OUR MAESTRA TEQUILERA SELECTS FOR FERMENTATION, AND MIJENTA IS READY FOR A DELICATE TRIPLE DISTILLATION IN POT STILLS. MIJENTA IS NOT FILTERED, WHICH ENHANCES ITS UNIQUE CHARACTER.
Ok just bought both bottles again for the third time and I have to say Tepozan is special it has what Long Island Lou calls "Funk" and he is so rightist,it has nice agave first then that salinity thing, has a viscosity to it ,melon, cinnimon, and then this funk that wraps around it...its hard to explain but I have not tried many that have this, maybe Gran Dovejo High Proof.Anyway Mijenta blanco is solid its buttery and well made but does not have that special effect thang going on and most of the time I want this, something unique.Again this is just my opinion and I would trust Long Island Lou's word over anyones in the tequila game PERIOD so maybe try both but wow Tepozan is my new #1 favorite Tequila to drink yes even over my Gran Dovejo High proof blanco and my Wild Common Blanco. Cheers
@Long Island Lou, 2 nice NEWER choices to debut. Really, really glad to see this type of review. Although I haven't had the opportunity to experience either of the two, based on others' tasting notes I too was surprised of the outcome. Great way to keep us intrigued on our toes.🍀😎
It is pronounced Mi’henta not Mo’henta 😂. Mijenta means my people. I an learning español myself but I know this for sure. Luv your show Lou and your reviews!! And your NYC accent. Also noticed other Californian tequila reviewers pronounce Blanco as Blonko!
Long Island Lou is the man !!! I personally tried both bottles at least twice and I preferred the Tepozan because I like the taste of my tequila to have agave, melon, lactic, salinity, cinnimon and lime and Tepozan is that just taste different from standard tequila.Mijenta has a nice buttery agave taste but has no special effects.Calles Criollo 23 is my number one of all time and Tepozan is my number one most unique tequila ,again just my opinion.Cheers
Love the blind between new brands. Can't try them all but fortunately Lou Agave does the hard work for us. Thanks Lou! Tau, Lalo, Atanasio, Mijenta - hopefully some of these new beauties find their way to store shelves everywhere so we can try as well.
Yes hope, but in the meantime you can go online and listen, somebody's got to do the dirty work, so as long as my 'Check Liver light' doesn't come on, it's all good
I have recently found your videos Lou and they are great. I love the honest opinions and how you describe each tequila. I was wondering if you have ever tried El Jimmador tequila or Dos Hombres mezcal and what were your thoughts? Love the videos and keep it up man 😁
el Jimador is horrific- its made with a diffuser, the worst and most mass produced procedure. It's cheap, manipulated tequila. No never tried Dos Hombres.
@@longislandloutequila7208 the Dos Hombres mezcal is rough ..... real rough. I definitely rank the El Jimmador higher than Patron...... but after your reply, I see i am definitely drinking the wrong tequila. Show me the way 😁😁 Thank you for the reply.
- Remember Patron is actually a very well may traditional tequila, it really is. What they do, is they purposely make it bland for the American palate. They shave the penas extremely tight (takes away flavor) and they cut the heads and tails taking away most of the flavors of tequila, because they feel Americans like it smooth and sweet, because most of us don't know any better. It's sad really.
Do you ever use sangrita between tastings like this, or anything to "cleanse the palate" outside of water? I've heard of both being used. Next tasting I do with my brother and brother in law will be a blind test. Thanks again for the unbiased opinion and expertise you always share. Salud!
My pleasure and thank you for watching. No I only used sangrita once or twice. I really don't find it to be necessary. Normally if I'm doing a blind taste test with a few different tequilas, I will really swish water around very well, and I will drink a few good sips at least. I would generally cleanse better than I do in a quick video like this, where there isn't a lot of time, but overall, water usually works fine for me
@@rawtruthisahardpilltoswall6180 - I'd say yes, but that's always hard to say, as it's all relative. If you can afford to buy it, I would say it's an excellent tequila to experience.
