Lou was a genius indeed but that end guitar solo is genial. To me it has the same powerful contradiction of brutality and sensibility that the quintessencial Clapton's 2nd Crossroads solo has. It's beautifully dreadful. Delicately dangerous. That ambiguity has been a central theme of the underground style since the days of Baudelaire's Les fleurs du mal and Dostoievski's Crime and Punishment. It fits Lou's music as a glove. This is a major achievement for a guitar player. Not many could play at that level of emotion.
...I first heard this in 1985. Still knocks me in my ass every time I listen to it....and I mean the whole album end to end. How can anyone listen to just one song? That's like reading one chapter of Miller or Bukowski....
Saw him perform this live at the Tower Theater in Upper Darby, PA (Philly) in 1976. What a concert it was, his performance was awesome. Reed's friend, David Bowie, was reportedly seen in the house back stage.
only lou reed would create such a rhyme "how do you think it feels, to feel like a wold and foxy, how do you think it feels, to always make love by proxy". one of my all time favorite songs.
How do you think it feels When you're speeding and lonely Come here baby How do you think it feels When all you can say is: If only If only I had a little If only I had some change If only, if only, only How do you think it feels And when do you think it stops? How do you think it feels When you've been up for five days Come down here Mamma Hunting around always - ooh 'Cause you're afraid of sleeping How do you think it feels To feel like a wolf and foxy How do you think it feels To always make love by proxy? How do you think it feels And when do you think it stops? When do you think it stops?
Sorry my last comment was bitter, lou reed was a fantastic wordsmith and he got me through some dark time's thank the stars that we had his music in our lives
I would imagine that Lou Reed would have very much appreciated all of those aspects of you. You would have reminded him of himself in those seemingly contradictory emotions. He, like many of us, sometimes react with bitterness to vent traumas we are trying to hide; the flip side is the ability to imagine moments of sublime beauty and joy. Lou had the ability to express both with utmost clarity in poetry. I hope you have found your own means to access that joy also.
Remember the days when you actually had to get up and get the record and take it out of the sleeve and put it on the turntable and place the needle on the vinyl to hear music? This is an album I would play in it's entirety, with no fast forwarding or skipping songs. It wasn't something you would play while doing something else either. You listened to it and read the lyrics and looked at the pictures on the pages and felt the emotion in the songs. This was my favorite song on the Album. Drug use! How do you think it feels? When do you think it stops? I got the sense that Loud Reed knew how powerful addiction could be and how it could make you do things you would never do in your "normal" mind. I'm not saying he knew from experience, but he certainly understood. This album did something that very few albums did - told a story with purpose like Who's Tommy or (modern day) MAE's The Everglow.
He must have been singing from having some expirience... this album is a masterpiece though very underrated... probably cause a lot of the people who dug it are dead now.
@@ottonormalo4638 Is he The guy playing with Lou in the 1975 tour when all the band had mustaches? The style is very similar. Anyway, the second solo is one of the greatest solos of all time. And Im a guy who heard thousands and thousands of albums. Still that solo always give me so much pleasure to hear. The interaction between the solo and the horns is also awesome. You can see Steve Hunter was really paying attention to the movements of the harmony
i think people who really know music very much respected both steve hunter and dick wagner. i know i did. i can still hear so much of their music in my head, memorized big parts of it.
@@gogoyubari366 I get it - this "underrated" thing is stupid. Anyway, in my country he's literally a nobody though. And Slash and similar garbage are Gods among pseudo rocknroller peasants.
Wow! Man, just wow. The guy was fuckin’ genius. This says everything I thought but wasn’t smart enough to say. And he’s got me beat by two days. Amazing.
How do you think it feels When you're speeding and lonely, come here baby How do you think it feels When all you can say is if only If only I had a little If only I had some change, come here baby If only, if only, if only How do you think it feels And when do you think it stops How do you think it feels When you've been up for five days, come down here mama Hunting around always, ooohhh 'Cause you're afraid of sleeping How do you think it feels To feel like a wolf and foxy How do you think it feels To always make love by proxy, huh How do you think it feels And when do you think it stops When do you think it stops For my use only, please forget all that you read
I noticed once I got in my truck after trading in my hacked and totally cursed phone a total difference. From the time span between leaving the atnt and when you hacked me again yesterday I felt away I haven’t felt for three years . I felt like a whole capable man again. I got rid of my last phone until you hacked into this one again and immediately i felt like I have attachment to you again, a foreboding sadness and angst angst, scatterbrained and inner sadness That’s what it feels like to be involved with you. What have you in my phone when you curses or linking me up to some kind of faulty simulation. I meant everything I said last night’s, but I don’t feel that way anymore only because you’re back in my phone I’m being tracked, followed, looked at with intent, and I know now I need to get you back out immediately, and go to law enforcement to make certain it can’t happen again. I had no idea the amount of havoc you’ve been wreaking but now I see clearly what it is and what must me re done
