Appreciate it bro 🍻 Gotta tell ya, the car is a different animal afterwards. Bit of a hassle, but worth it. Though I just put in the replacement downpipe and it's crazy how much easier it was the second time lol.
You should do some a video like you did when you first installed the valvetronics exhaust. Camera outside the car while you drive by. I can’t tell if it’s better with the DPs from inside the cabin.
Just did this on my f80. It sounds amazing with valves open. I’m thinking about removing the secondary cats to get a little more volume but not get too crazy
Did you do them on yours? I’ve been trying to find a video of catted dp’s with a secondary cat delete (and stock comp exhaust). Hard setup to find a video of lol
@@_allenyang I have the Valvetronic Designs exhaust which gets rid of the secondary cats. If you wanted to keep the comp muffler you could just get catless mid pipes but you'd have to cut (which has the downside of not being reversible). I'm pretty sure I've seen a video of that before.
@@jgo.m3 makes sense. Leaning towards it! Appreciate the insight. Btw I’m in Delaware too, pretty sure I saw your f80 the other week. I just picked up my mineral white f80 last month from ottos
@@_allenyang nice! Yeah I think I saw you - I remember seeing a white F80 thinking "well that's new around here" lol. Very cool. There's actually another yas marina F80 in the same area (Hockessin) but his grill is chrome whereas mine is black. Anyway if you ever wanna catch up and compare notes on mods or whatever, let me know. Also watch out with (formerly) Otto's when it comes to service. I posted a video on it recently if you want the full story.
Thanks for the video! I started watching because I after I installed, which like you said was a pain, I had the same issue with the transmount bolt. I wanted to see if I had done something wrong but I got the same “bad batch” from ARM. To their credit they sent out another long pipe asap but same issue. Went with another popular 200 cel dp fitment was great but sound is not the same. ARM definitely has the best sound hands down congrats!!
Thanks brother! Sorry to hear you had a hard time with yours. Did you notice any rasp afterwards? I feel like there's a little bit there on the low end if I'm in a higher gear trying to get up to speed, but it's not terrible (certainly worth it lol).
@@jgo.m3 there was a small amount of rasp when down shifting and as you mentioned when getting up to speed. Slowly accelerating yes rasp mainly gears 2-5 but if I floor it no issues.
@@jgo.m3 I have same exhaust, I am 90% sure that even the owner or the guy that has done all their videos, had mentioned that the rasp never completely goes away but that it was/is great reduced. Like you I researched a few brands catted brands and honestly the deciding factor to go with ARM originally was emailing VD and finding out that was the downpipe they were/are using for their videos. Another thing that I wish someone had the time to do, would be to get sound clips of the different 200 cel cats. I am curios to see what factors truly change the sound, performance, etc especially when the price points vary so much. The ER are beautiful and fitment could be amazing but what if the sound was awful? The brand I am with now, has 3 letters, and almost identical price point you can figure this out of course. I will say the sound is deeper, which is ok still think ARM has the best sound, it also seems with this brand, the downpipes are more restrictive at lower rpms and not as free flowing. On a side note i did reach out to VD and asked them if they would be expanding their offerings to include downpipes and they said "not at this time". Anyway I apologize for the lengthy response and will be interrogating you on your BM3 post. Thanks again as always for take the time to post these videos.
Anytime brother.. appreciate you taking the time to comment/chat. Yeah pretty sure I know who you are talking about.. I considered them too but ARM had so much more feedback/examples and I do love the sound. I agree though it would be cool to hear a lineup of different setups. As for ARM I hope they iron out the QC issues cause they do make good products and have insanely great customer support.
Yeah man, I'm already getting the itch to try something else out and I know I shouldn't (still very happy with the Valvetronic exhaust) but tbh I'd love to hear a single mid pipe on mine. I had the AA ELs and they were great but from everything I've heard, single gives an even deeper tone.
Nope, I have catted down pipes. Catless dps with equal length mid pipes (like on the valvetronic system) will cause rasp. I actually do still get a little bit, but only if I floor it at low RPMs in a higher gear. Also, beautiful F80 you got there! Subbed 🍻
@jgo.m3 thank you for the heads up !! I just got done installing mine and it sounds lovely but the rasp is god awful ..thanks for the heads up !! And thank you for the sub !!!I went valvetronic after watching your vids lmao
Haha nice! I knew I should have hit them up for a referral code. Sorry to hear about the rasp but otherwise hope you're liking the setup. I know mine is pretty insane with catted dps so yours has gotta be a beast at full throttle 🤘
