Christopher Page Because it would mean that he holds himself to a higher standard than most other people. If he questions and betters himself relentlessly but decides not to put others through the same treatment it would be either that he doesn't care for them or that he figures they can't handle it. However, he does challenge the people that view his comedy just like Carlin, it's part of what makes him so great.
etagged yeah I would say I agree with your logic, but I do realize now that there are plenty of times in which he challenges his viewers or even characters on his show that play loved ones ect. but anyhow I dont think its that he holds himself to a higher standard as much as it may have to do with empathy. And i think most of the great comedians / artists but themselves thru alot of personal aguish and criticism when they put out material.
Great interview, great pace, great questions, great guest. Louis C.K. . I love this man's way of thinking. Just listening to him is like reading a big chapter from a life manual.
I love the way Louis talks and conveys ideas, he doesnt sound phoney or full of himself or like he's trying to make people think he's smart, he just talks like a normal person but with great insight. I tried hearing Daniel Day Lewis talk about acting once, I can't help but tune him out, he's so up his own ass.
This dude is so creative it’s insane, I didn’t know he was this in to doing shows like this and was close to quitting comedy, this dude is by far the funniest comedian of all time, he’s the comedians comedian literaly
Do drugs, don't get caught if they're illegal, take chances and make choices that are less reasonable, more and more, agree less, vocally, without shitting yourself, lose family and friends that are only in your life cause you're afraid to face the silence, and of course, never apologize, but never stop learning. Thank nobody, and die as willingly as your able to live. Creativity will flower in you. When all else fails, drive a cab In a decent sized city, and if you want to join a creative orgy always in progress, be homeless. 😀
Anybody seeing this in 2021? I started watching with minimum expectations and couldn't stop or take a break until fully watched. LCK is incredibly honest. He should come back soon for the sake of humanity.
He's been back for well over a year. He toured in the US and Europe in 2019 and released a special, Sincerely, on his website in April 2020. He also does a podcast with his girlfriend and has just announced a larger tour including dates postponed because of the pandemic. Which means he played clubs so he could build his new hour.
@@UkPome What do you mean HopEfuLlY mAn? You read what the guy said, and at this point he has two specials put since everything happened. All it literally takes is a google search. Do you need information completely spoon fed to you? Fuck
I love so much that Louis wasn’t ruined by his scandal. Like, he’s touched by it, but he ran with it and was able to make fun of it and be sincere about it. I also love his transition from his first style through his evolution. I don’t know any better re-creation of a talent than ck. He’s just the G.O.A.T. in my mind. Everything and anything comedy can be, Louis is. Just so happy to be around to see him.
frank bellina They sound like they're pickin up just as much room tone as direct voice. They must b dynamic mics. They're both a little far from them. edit: apparently they're AEA ribbon mics
@@firstnamelastname-zo5gd I'll meet you halfway there. He fucked up in the past, but was protected from the consequences because he was making other people money. He was going through some pain in his life, was acting out, hurt people, but never had the opportunity to learn from smaller consequences. When he got so big and his life was in a better place, but he was also taking ownership of his production, all of a sudden his past transgressions surface and he gets body slammed. Plus, he actually issues a heartfelt (imho) apology, which gets him in MORE trouble. Had he pulled a normal highroller move and buy them with NDAs and never admit to anything, he'd have come out of it relatively unscathed. Why is each individual treated as a singular deviant but the system that enabled it, and STILL does, is never really taken task??? Why don't the people who enabled and benefited from these individuals ever have to answer for it??? They all turn on their cash cow publicly and then move on with their millions...
I remember watching this a few years back and couldn't find it again. So glad to have found it again - such a top tier interview with some real information and depth
Louis has been some sort of role model/hero/something just because he's so good and real in his comedy process. He inspires me to get on stage. Also to just be myself and accept my material.
I remember when Louie came up with the five dollar model, been a customer ever since. The guy that makes me laugh the most selling his craft on the cheap... he's unbelievable. Thank you Louie.
what a genius. honest, loving, self aware and just a fucking good person. please make more children. donate some sperm I don't care just make more Louis please we need them
I woke up to this interview, having woken up earlier, played a Louie clip, dozed off again with auto-play on, and finally woke up again to this great interview randomly recommended by the algorithm.
@@reallivebluescat No, “a Louie clip” was a different LCK clip that caused RU-vid to eventually recommend this one to me, so the first and last “woke up” are referring to the same act of waking up in my admittedly ambiguously worded rambling penned in a barely awake state.
So, this was edited. In the original version he says something about how much he loves to hate the Aaron Sorkin show Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. The article had verbatim quotes from him, but this interview has zero references to that show at all.
Great podcast with Louis! Not many podcasters manage to have a human conversation with a comedian. Usually it is just a long string of bits and sometimes people just want to see who the person is.
This was great, Louies my favorite comic. Kinda weird how before the allegations, Rogan spoke as if they were friends. But after the allegations, Rogan would say he didn't really know C.K. 🤔
@@jamahlrawls3520 It’s a figure 8 microphone and the pre amp is probably up fairly high, because their would probably be to much of a proximity effect if they were up close
Those microphones are uncomfortable large. There was a comic named Patrice ONeil who had ac suitcase filled with those that he took to Brazil a few times. Heh
I love buying Louis CK content from his website. I hate it when you see something you want and then find out it's on a different streaming service than the seven you already pay for.
I gotta say, he may be a comedian but that was really good acting. Especially at the end after Parker walks off. And she's obviously no slouch either but that goes without saying. I just saw Lost in Space and she completely made the show.
What's interesting to me is that Bill isn't a great interviewer, yet is able to get great stories and information from his guests. I'm much more drawn to hosts who go toe-to-toe with their interviewees and delve into specifics, but his broad, ineloquent style seems to work. Props.
at about 28:00 Louie talks about not really liking "comedy" (i think he means like, the stuff we're used to. sitcoms, buddy cop movies etc) and then he mentions Goodfellas and Raging Bull, movies that are obviously not written specifically to be in the comedy genre, as examples of movies that made him laugh the hardest. Made me think of a scene from Goodfellas that I think is one of the funniest of all time: the scene where Tommy's (Joe Pesci's character) mother shows Tommy, Henry, and Jimmy her painting and Tommy talks about it. "I like this painting. Ya got one dog goin one way the other dog goin the other way, and this guy's sayin 'whaddya want from me?' " Fucking kills me every time. NO that's NOT what he's sayin! He's like an old fisherman guy! he's not a wiseguy! Tommy's such a wiseguy that it never occurred to him that some people aren't wiseguys hahaha. Mother (played brilliantly by Martin Scorce's actual mother btw) chimes in: "One's goin east, the other's goin west, so what?" YES!! That is so totally Tommy's mother! Show idea: Joe Pesci Reviews Art. I'd watch the shit outta that
That scene is hilarious. "Whaddya want from me?" Haha Also, how Tommy says we know a guy that looks like him right after they beat that guy up. It shows great insight in the humor gangsters were about.
