There were a bunch of tweets from different people around them, and stuff like that, that some fans interpreted as implying that H & L would have got married that day. Most of the tweets have been debunked or at least there are some other plausible explanations for them. One of the tweets was Harry’s “We don’t need no piece of paper from the city hall” (lyrics from Joni Mitchell’s My Old Man), which to me implies the opposite of getting legally married, but for some reason that’s one of the tweets people use as evidence of them getting married. And, of course, they couldn’t have got legally married that day, since same-sex marriage wasn’t legal in Australia or in the UK back then. So, if it was something, it was either a civil partnership or some kind of unofficial commitment ceremony or something like that. They have referred to that date later, for example, on 28 September 2015, Harry talked about anniversaries on stage and said that they are special to him (even though according to the public narrative he had never had a relationship that would have lasted long enough to have an anniversary), and stuff like that, that implies that the day has some significance to them. Maybe they just celebrate their fake anniversary because they find it funny and because it’s a Larry day to the fandom. I don’t know. And personally, I really don’t care about whether they are married or not, and I think the whole discourse around the topic is pretty boring, so I haven’t looked into it that much. Queer couples have had their own unofficial commitment rituals throughout the history, and it’s only very recently that we have even been acknowledged in some jurisdictions, so to me, queer couples can consider anything they want a wedding, and celebrate anything they choose as an anniversary. I think that, indeed, “we don’t need no piece of paper from the city hall” (except for the legal benefits). So, I celebrate 28 September as a Larry day, because I think it’s nice to have a date to celebrate them, but to me, the whole marriage thing is irrelevant.

@@FearlessCreature Thanks I will watch it I have fallen into this rabbit hole more times than I like to count but it is hard to let go of Harry and Louis because now as they have become men their music and talent just keeps growing -- there is something about them and their interaction that was so real and intoxicating that once you become a Larry well your done
