Kind of ironic that the Presidential candidate and leader of Gov. Landry's party has broken virtually every one of those commandments. Hypocrisy, thy name is GOP.
"Thou shalt not bear false witness" is the one he has broken the most. He just loves to commit fraud, perjury, defamation.. ..and just lie in general. He will even lie when the truth would serve him better. Who tf does _that?_
In fairness, there is more to religion than bronze age myths, and also, a lot of the shallow thinking that can affect religious folks can just as easily infect non-religious folks. But that said, this move by Republicans is such a slippery slope towards the Christian Taliban that it's scary as hell.
That's very sad You obviously had a bad experience. I was very fortunate. I was part of a really good church community that gave me a lot of support so faith is still important to me even though I can't physically go to church. I have to go online.
Just watched one of their politicians on CNN. It was absolutely ridiculous. Her defense of the legislation was awful and made absolutely no sense. She started by saying that it was historical text. But she couldn't define how that was the case. Finally it ended with her insulting the anchor and making her attack very personal. I wouldn't want anyone in government controlling my child's religious beliefs. They're a bunch of hypocrites.

All 3 major religions, Judeo-Christian-Muslim use these tenets. They are all Abramamic religions. What religion does Trump belong to? The Church of Trump. The devil in a suit.
@@Troller_007Louisiana GOP say these are the original laws from Moses. But Buddhism would have been alive for more than 1000 years when Moses held these 10 commandments!
She also used the 'In God We Trust' on US currency which is commonly used by the Christian Taliban in arguments. However, that was added in the 1950s due to communism, it was not from the Founders.
@@lockwoodpeckinpaugh9252 kinda of ignoring the whole “ fishes & loaves” story of the Bible .. same book as the 10 commandments.. huh? Hypocrisy.. seriously ..
There are millions that are not running away from the concept of God … they are running away from these “churches” and the people that are in the that claim to follow the teachings of God. They don’t, or do not want to see that there are many who believe.. but have no interest in their kind of “loving cruelty “
The people of Louisiana should be upset at their governor for wasting taxpayers money. How's that infrastructure in Louisiana? How's your school's and hospitals? Probably pretty terrible. Go Louisiana, worrying about the important things. These people.
Have you seen the recent voting behavior of the citizens of Louisiana? Especially, New Orleans parish? Voting percentages / turnout for the African-American citizenry is abysmal. The citizens there just don't seem to care. Seems they've gotten use to being willing participants in their own extinction.

I believe a lawsuit is already in progress. Unfortunately, I live in Louisiana, but my vote did not elect this ignorant, arrogant man. His actions will cause a lot of people to leave this state. It's already happening.
Not so fast Sparky, first there has to be an injured party, orherwise any lawsuit goes nowhere. You gotta love how proud they are of their little bill though, bless their hearts. Hopefully the Church of Satan will sue to have a statue of Baphomet in at least one school. Those "good christians" aren't using public funds, so this is their work around the exclusion clause. Baphomet would be financed the exact same way, so legally what's good for the goose...
These people are not in the business of actually reading the Bible they are simply in the business of holding it up to express their piety and their perceived position on things, no matter how wrong they are.
Louisiana ranks highest in drug overdose deaths and is one of the poorest,, most unhealthy states in the country. Lawmakers in the state are failing their constituents.
I'm a Christian, but I don't think the 10 Commandments should be posted in the classroom. They are essentially religious, and the State shall not endorse or enforce any religion. Now as far as a decaying culture devoid of character and common morality, this should be addressed by teaching youth the difference between right and wrong, yes, in school, but without religious texts or materials.
I find it kind of ironic that they're trying to push something on a classroom in children when then themselves don't even practice the ten commandments and they're trying to put a man in office that definitely does not follow the ten commandments as a matter of fact he's broken almost every single one of them.
Aside from the unconstitutionality of the law, 2 things spring to mind: (1) schools already have codes of conduct, and (2) if you want your children to learn the Ten Commandments, by all means take them to church. There's a church on almost every street corner; it isn't necessary to turn schools into churches. Does the fact that conservatives want the Ten in schools mean their churches are failing?
The first amendment to the US Constitution states "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof." The “Law Giver” here in the USA is the Constitution, PERIOD.
@@lockwoodpeckinpaugh9252No, states are included as well as corporations, universities, & sporting events. Founding fathers ran from religious persecution in Europe!!!
@@lockwoodpeckinpaugh9252 Actually, it does! The UNITED STATES in the late 1780's assembled their representatives in conference and produced the CONSTITUTION which, through a state by state vote, was agreed to and made law. Of course, you could argue that Louisiana was not a state then. But Louisiana joined later, agreeing to the laws of the US.
If they are gonna go Old Testament they better stop eating pork, seafood and wearing cotton with polyester. Oh, and that stoning thing is back on the table...
Apparently you have never read the Old Testament, there was plenty of fish eating, the disciples were fishermen and there was no polyester@. The Old Testament is also about the Israelites and the laws there leaders imposed.
@cindycreateforlife Honey, fish is not shellfish. And sub silk for polyester. Was just using it as an example. And I see you like to pick and choose what you want out of the old Testament. ..good for you!
@@outtakontroll3334 The funniest part of all that outrage over the Satanic Church is that they aren't even a theistic orgnaization, they're an activist group formed to fight exactly what we're seeing here, Christianity trying to creep into government.
They should also include moral principles from EVERY religion and secular organization. Tenets of secular ethics Human beings, through their ability to empathize, are capable of determining ethical grounds. The well-being of others is central to ethical decision-making. Human beings, through logic and reason, are capable of deriving normative principles of behavior. This may lead to a behavior preferable to that propagated or condoned based on religious texts. Alternatively, this may lead to the advocacy of a system of moral principles that a broad group of people, both religious and non-religious, can agree upon. Human beings have the moral responsibility to ensure that societies and individuals act based on these ethical principles. Societies should, if at all possible, advance from a less ethical and just form to a more ethical and just form. Many of these tenets are applied in the science of morality, the use of the scientific method to answer moral questions.
This law is super crazy, but also perfect for broadcasting in swing-state Democratic ads about what the Republicans are up to where you put them in charge.
Odd statement. You don't force christianity on christians either, and kids are not christian without it being forced on them in the first place. With some exceptions.
Time for a little civil disobedience. What would the authorities do if the framed 10 commandments start disappearing from the classrooms? Just as political signs in areas that prohibit them disappear during political campaigns, individuals must take control
Thanks Harry for all your insights, very much appreciated, and the bit you always do at the end with “talk to you later” is so cute & yet reassuring at the same time so thanks for that too🙏😊
Wow. Madeline Murray must be jumping up and down after hearing this. I think they belong in church and in people’s hearts. Maybe if more GOP members kept them, the commandments wouldn’t need posting.
What parts of the Koran are required? What about the Tao Te Ching? The Bhagavad Gita? I'm sure they will be predominantly displayed as well? They all assert moral values too.
I grew up going to Sunday School and Church every Sunday. We didn't even have the Ten Commandments posted in our classroom or church. I go to a Baptist Church every week to make quilts - no Ten Commandments posted. hmmmm.....
It's a great initiative and it should be expanded: candididates to the US presidency (and all other politicians) should lead by example and abide by the 10 commandments as well. Specifically, candididates should be disqualified is they have breached any of the following: You shall not make idols, You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain, You shall not commit adultery, You shall not steal, You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor, You shall not covet.
Can you imagine the governor of your state telling you that you are failures as parents, so now the State has to raise your children to be moral and upstanding?? There's that darn government overreach that you have been worried about since black kids got to go to your schools.
Somehow the one that says..thou shalt not kill doesn't jive with their lax gun laws..the founding fathers wanted freedom of religion and from religion for a reason..they were escaping this very thing.
So, with all the attention on the teaching of sexual matters in school, explain to me how "Thou shall not commit adultery." is not teaching about sexual behavior? BAN THE TEN COMMANDMENTS IN SCHOOLS!
No Golden Rule?? -I’m no religious expert, but somewhere in my Catholic school training, I learned that Jesus said that the most important commandment of all was what we call today the “Golden Rule” - treating others as you would want them to have treated you if the roles were reversed. That’s the one commandment that just happens to have a rendition in every one of the world’s religions; it’s the one commandment that these so-called “Christians” do not preach, do not display, and DO NOT FOLLOW. Their religion- which is not in any way, shape, or form “Christian” - in that it HAS NO EMPATHY FOR OTHERS - is nothing but a POWER GRAB. …and then they wonder why fewer and fewer people are going to church….
I saw it written once whereas to be a politician, you must capitulate to the ideology of your percieved base. No personal beliefs exposed. Its all for performative and transactional purpose. Inside a church is the last place you will ever find a mythical great healer.
If you want your kids to get a good education, move to Massachusetts, New Jersey, Connecticut or New Hampshire. Louisiana is ranked 40th in Pre-K-12 education.
