I like to saute the onions before I add them to the beef. They taste so much better. I also replace the tomato sauce with plenty of ketchup and mustard. All the other ingredients stay the same.
Instead of onion I add a packet of onion soup mix and it gives it a really good flavor. I also bake mine on a foil lined baking sheet with a rack and all the grease drips through the rack onto the foil which makes for an easier clean up. Topping is ketchup with mustard and chopped onion.
Cook with no tomato sauce do put garlic powder and onion powder with chopped onion tared up 2slices breadcrumbs Soaked in milk and 1egg mix put in a loaf pan cooked for hour then drain slit it in the middle to see if cooked let it rest little served with mashed potatoes and salad they can put there own Ketchup on and have sandwiches later the same way you have Paula Deen thanks for the idea of bread on the bottom love and best dishes 😃💯🤗
Hey Paula I still love you and I always will. I still watch you and make your recipes. I miss your big kitchen with the double oven doors, the double fryer and that wonderful front porch. Maybe one day I’ll move to Savannah so I can work for you. You will always be my Mother in my head. Keep your head up. We love you. We all make mistakes. Fxxx ppl and their opinions.. When you have a job opening plz let me know. I would relocate from Michigan. I have no family except a daughter. I’m an exceptional cook. I like being behind the scenes. Keep smiling. You are appreciated and loved.
Oh gurl!!! Love the meatloaf. When you mentioned your shoulder as I was watching I was doing a red light therapy with my handheld device I got off Amazon. I messed up my knee many years ago and if I do to much yardwork, gardening it swells and stiffens and hurts. This red light therapy device does wonders! I don't need pain pills or any medication for it. I only do many treatments. It gently warms the area and feels wonderful. Do it while watching tv. My momma uses it for her shoulder and swears by it. Do sweetie give it a try it generates blood to the area and promote healing, helps any body area even stomach if you have IBS type issues. They have them in handheld, wrap around belt type devices. I really think it will help. Blessings and positive energy to ya.😊❤
I started cooking my Meatloaf in my Crock Pot. I put it on a rack and add a 1/4 cup of water to the bottom and cook on low for 8 hours. That water keeps it so moist and delicious! I will never bake my Meatloaf again.
I don’t use a loaf pan. I make a large meatloaf, and I form it onto a rimmed cookie sheet. This way, all of the grease moves away from the meatloaf, and more of the meatloaf becomes crusty, which we prefer. I also use a mixture of ground beef and ground pork.
My mom always put chopped green bell pepper in her meatloaf, to me it's never the same without it :) I have thought about trying crushed pork rinds instead of breadcrumbs to cut down on the carbs, I hear it works just about as well for a binder.
sweet onion jam goes really good on top of meatloaf. Cook your meatloaf and in the last 15 minutes put the onion jam on top and cook for the rest of the time. delicious!
We all Love meatloaf in my family, I make it different from time to time, make it like you did, minus the bread, one time the sauce, one time with a can of golden mushrooms soup on top, another time with bacon on top. But I put my meatloaf in the bottom of a broiler pan because I make a very large meatloaf, like 3 1/2 Lb meatloaf, but oh so good. I chopped fine a sweet red pepper along with the onion! Have a great day! 👍❤️
I have enjoyed your show many years and your restaurant in Savannah. One of my favorite recipes is your meatloaf. My husband does not like meatloaf but me and my mother in law love the variety of ideas you have for this wonderful meal and I always have my white bread and dukes mayo for a meatloaf sandwich. This is also one of my favorite breakfast go to's.😀
I love Meatloaf! My favorite recipe is on the Quaker Oats box and I add to it and have used it since 1976. It was one of the first things I learned to cook as a young cook. Love your videos and recipes, you too Paula.❤️
This is my families absolute favorite meatloaf recipe ever. Been using this recipe for years and it’s always a huge hit. My boys are gonna love it for a special Valentine’s Day dinner ❤
This looks fabulous! I like to use either Ritz crackers or Cheezits (or even bread soaked in milk) in my meat loaves for binders. I've even used crushed Fritos with salsa for Mexican meat loaf.
Looking good, Paula! Always a joy to see what y'all are up to in your world. Thank you so much for putting out these videos. Some of us do not have family around anymore, and for a warm, kind moment there you are in your kitchen making us feel welcomed! You feel like a bright, loving family for a bit...gives us a break from this crazy madness our world seems to becoming. Thanks again and much love!
I can't remember my granny making meatloaf. But I know my mom used to make it. I think she just used the recipe on the box of oatmeal. I like meatloaf sandwiches too. I also just like to snack on a slice of cold meatloaf.
I like to use a bed of Cabbage, green peppers and onions in the bottom. Seasoned with salt pepper and minced garlic. I also make twice the amount of sauce and pour some over the vegetables, then keep adding it on top as it bakes down. With mashed potatoes, the vegetables and tomato gravy is done.
I love meatloaf!!!! And I’m like you Paula I love meatloaf sandwich with duke mayonnaise and coby Jack cheese! Everything good with cheese! Lol! 💜💜💜💜👩🏻🦱
I will have to try this. I have been using one of your older meatloaf recipes for years and people always brag about it. Keep the videos coming. We love them!!!❤❤❤
looks SO good!!!! It's basically how I've made meatloaf, but that SAUCE is a MUST to try next time! Maybe a small piece of Parchment Paper on top of the bread would still let the grease drain, but not make a mess of the bread.
You are right Paula. My son was at your restaurant in Branson he said it was like eating his Nana’s cooking. Any suggestions for replacing onions and garlic in recipes.
🌷PAULA I HAVE A SUGGESTION🌷…the woman from Collard Valley Cooks youtube channel is right there in Georgia with you. She makes the most amazing Chicken n Stuffing dish. Maybe you could have her on making that dish! It’s a amazing and she is so sweet and humble and would feel so honored.
Your food and recipes are always the best!! My little grandsons are always best behaved at your restaurant in Branson! They are too busy eating to be bad🤣 I have your sign that says eat at mommas y’all but I think they would rather eat at Paula’s😘
QUESTION: 😃 I must know WHY the addition of white vinegar? My mom always used a sleeve of very finely regular saltiness to help stretch the meatloaf out. YOUR recipe, Paula, sounds, & looks so, so good. I'll be making this Saturday, or Sunday. I HAVE to have mashed potatoes 🥔 and green beans, too. 😋 I never thought I'd be excited about meatloaf! 😊
Since her recipe is BBQ meatloaf, she is trying to reproduce bbq sauce, instead of using a bottled variety. Bbq sauce has vinegar in it, that's what gives it that tangy, sweet n sour taste.
@@soniaruiz9037 Hi Sonia, 80/20 is when you need to put the bread in the bottom of the pan. Miss Paula's was so lean that she didn't really need the bread. Jmo! 😁
Better be careful with some of that background conversation. Somebody might say something they shouldn't. LOL!!! I'm trying this recipe this week. It looks delicious, especially that sauce.
Put one in Northern Columbus Ohio and I will go there in a minute or get food from there in a minute I can't seem to go to a restaurant right now but I would love to say I ate at a Paula Deen restaurant. No way I can get to one but as long as you keep giving recipes I can eat at home for sure our family favorite was the wild rice and green bean casserole that was a long long time ago
I believe the blending fork was to be used for incorporating butter into flour when making biscuits. I know that Tammy from Collard Valley Cooks uses it for such purposes.
Looked good....however, I went to the page of the recipe to bookmark it, and the bread on the bottom of the pan was not in the directions. Also, it said to put in a shallow pan, and you placed it in a regular deep loaf pan. I am concerned that when I make it, I am not going to remember those tweeks and be unhappy with the results. I know when I do make meatloaf, I add a trough down the middle to hold a stream of the sauce.
Same here Rebecca By the way pardon me for agitating into your privacy, if I may ask how's the weather over there and I hope you're feeling fine as well?
That looks delicious, Paula! I love the bread idea. My mother-in-law would always put a whole Klausen dill pickle in the center of her meatloaf! That pickle really gives it another level of flavor! Love and Best Dishes to You and the Crew! 😘 Arlene C.
Sounds like a German take on meatloaf. Here's another twist, if you like sauerkraut (and Reuben sandwiches), slice and domino style your meatloaf, spread some 1000 island dressing down the middle of the slices, top with drained sauerkraut, sprinkle with drained, chopped dill pickles, and sprinkle swiss cheese all over. Heat til hot and cheese melts....."Reubenized meatloaf"!.
😂I’m so tickled she not tryna waist not one drop, can’t believe she actually used the sauce that spilled on the counter… Ain’t no shame in her game! Bahaha!
That's a really good idea putting the bread on the bottom to soak up the grease. When that sauce dribbled over and you had to clean everything...that showed great cooking hygiene. Oh, how do I make my meatloaf? With veggie burgers...But I would have stabbed the meat a few times before pouring the sauce on so it would flow all through the meat.
