Every time we have friends visit from the north we take them to river street to get pralines. They are soooo good. Thanks for the recipe. I’m gonna make them. Bless you and get your shoulder fixed.
That was a very nice tribute to your friend. Thank you for sharing with us his recipe and about his life. He sounds like he was a true southern gentleman.
I'm in tears over the loss of your dear friend. As one of your longtime fans I've visited his store when vacationing and his pralines are the best. My son's first praline was at his store. Wonderful memories to keep.
I remember him from your show because he stood out to me. He seemed to be such a cheerful, bright soul. So sorry for all of yours and the town's loss as I am sure he will be sorely missed by all.
When I see Michael and you together I think "I am so glad he found her." That little dog who ran off was a matchmaking angel. So sorry for the loss of another angel, Stan.
Another wonderful episode. In memory of Stan! ❤️ A new guy I’m dating….. he made me pralines ❤️ and yes, he’s a southern man 🥰 Love to y’all from Loveland, Colorado ❤️
I was lucky enough to meet him and eat at his candy kitchen years ago....it was wonderful. Was with my grandparents and family. The pralines melted on your tongue. It was one of the very best experiences of my life. Just a perfect moment in time of the beautiful candy kitchen, scenery, smells, and heaven. I even did a scrapbook of our trip to Savannah. They had a peach festival going on that was so beautiful. Thankful for the good memories....
Paula, you are the real deal. You are the way people are supposed to be. You give hope to people that the world is still worth living in because good people still exist. Life can see have so much meaning and people still recognize it and recognize good people. The way you honor other people and love living life is a testament.
Very sweet tribute to sweet Stan. I am flying into Atlanta in late July…my first time back on a plane in three years. I will definitely visit his shop in concourse B, and pick up some of his original and chocolate pralines, as well as his turtles. RIP, Stan!
Think of all the joy Stan brought to everyone who got to taste his candy?? 💥Wow Just like Paula's cooking.. I'm Southern & my Mama was a Southern Cook like Paula. Absolutely The Best Cook's in my Preference.. They can just cook it all. Meals, Dessert's, appetizers, candies, Ice Creams, Party Foods, Picnic Foods, Vacation Foods, & I'm sure I'm leaving something out lol. May Stan make Pralines in Heaven🕊️💞🕊️
These look scrumptious. So sorry to hear about Stan. I have been to both candy shops. So much to see in them both. Your so sweet to dedicate this show to him. Love and hugs
So very sorry for the loss of your friend. These look so good! Condensed milk is full fat cow's milk that has had the water removed. I have learned so much from Paula over the years. I'm proud that I knew the answer to something that I can share with her. Love Michael and Paula in the kitchen!! Hope ya'll have a great week! God bless!
Actually condensed milk, is actually sweetened condensed milk, and it has had 60% of its water removed PLUS a bunch of sugar added. Whereas evaporated milk does not have added sugar and with also 60% of his water removed. I just wanted to point out that condensed milk also contains a bunch of sugar which you didn’t happen to mention.
@@MaryDavidson911 I wasn’t really disputing how either milk was made, but…. Was clearing in my mind which milk was used in the recipe. This post referred to condensed milk. When I reviewed her recipe, she said EVAPORATED milk. It make a HUGE difference in a recipe.
The correct milk is evaporated. Learned to make these years ago from my mom. The thing that confuses me is all of these new recipes use brown sugar. We only used white sugar that had to be cooked in butter until it turned brown.
Please accept my most sincere condolences on Stan's passing. May your memories of him ease your shattered heart. Know that his pralines will be blowing the angels' minds.
I ordered his Pralines for Christmas gifts, every year, after I visited Savannah Candy Kitchen in Savannah. My thoughts are with his family. Thank you for your tribute Paula and Michael.
Wow, what a great way to honor your friend. I remember seeing him in one of your videos. I can tell he was a kind soul, and I bet that smile lit up any room he was in. My heart goes out to all his family and dear friends. ❤️
Sorry to hear you and Michael lost a friend. Where I live in Canada you can't find a praline anywhere. We used to be able to get them at a local nut shop but they closed down decades ago. I used to always buy the pralines Thank you for the recipe because I have been wanting to make some but like you I have a bad arm so I can't beat the mixture. I looked on the Savannah Candy website to see if I could order some pralines but they don't ship internationally. Thank you for sharing the recipe
You Paula have also made a mark in this life ! Such dedication raising children and just making everyone take notice ! You are their jewel ! Thank you for all you do !
Lovely memorial to Stan, I have been making pralines over 30 years but I recall the ones we had in Savannah years ago and they were so creamy and loaded with pecans, delicious!
Savannah/tybee was my respite from this crazy world during the pandemic. I’ve been to those candy shops , I don’t remember Stan, but I do remember the candy . Rest easy , Stan ❤️
This Pralines recipe looks so delicious Paula. I'm so sorry to hear about Stan Strickland's passing. I had the chance to watch many videos of you with him when you did Paula's Best Dishes and also when you did Paula's Party. His family will be in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time they're all going through right now.
I loved watching you two together. Such a wonderful friendship between you two. You could tell he loved what he did as well as loved the people around him. Such a lovely tribute. God rest his soul. 🕊
Thank you Ms Paula to a great tribute to your friend and his family. Sending blessings to the family . May the good Lord bring comfort and peace in the days to come.
Absolutely beautiful, Paula. This recipe will be a keeper for me. Thank you. For being so celebratory of ones you love... as a hospice nurse- I really appreciate that.. helping more than u know
Good Morning Miss Paula sorry for your loss Sending Prayers to Family And Friends. If that pot is a Paul Revere my mom had a whole set and my job when I was little was to polish the bottoms
I’m watching do what I have had to for 2-3 months. I get it!!! Shoulder and neck pain is INTOLERABLE!! Praying for us all!!! Thank you for doing this even with your pain. ❤️
Sorry about the loss of your amazing friend. Im just now happening across this video. I have always loved pralines. I live in Huntington wv and growing up here all my life we had a wonderful grocery store chain called Big Bear and their Deli was amazing....i was addicted to these cookie looking things the made called pecan pralines...they were thin almost the consistency like if they had baked eagle brand milk into a carmely lattice look...it hardened softly and was drizzled w a little chocolate and a few tiny crushed pecans...oh my gosh do i miss them. The small chain of Big Bears closed when walmarts moved into the area though :( anyway,,,i sooo love your recipes and also the stories you tell while you cook for us. Thank you my friend to all ❤️
This made me curious also so I went to my source that knows everything....Google 😊and it said it is where about 60% of the water has been removed from the fresh milk. It also said that in some countries it is know as unsweetened condensed milk. Who knew?
Oh goodness, the tribute you’ve shared for Stan is beautiful. Our family has treasured his shops for years and years. Prayers for his family and friends.
It is so sad to hear about Stan. I have seen his son on QVC before, and his candy looked so good. I am so sorry for you and Michael's friend. He seemed like such a special man and he will be missed by so many. I love pralines. I am going to have to make these in honor of him. I enjoy seeing you and Michael in your kitchen together. Thank you for sharing, love yall.
What a beautiful tribute Paula. I’ve visited Savannah Candy Kitchen at ATL Hartsfield many times, and these are my favorites. In honor of your dear friend I’ll be making these today, to share with mine. xx
Very sad to hear that Stan passed. The candy stores are always packed with many people, no matter the time of day. He will be missed. My husband's name was Stan too. Now, they are fishing together at the Rainbow bridge. RIP. 🙏🥀✝️💔
Paula, I love how you & Michael love each other! I'll think about Stan every time I eat a praline. Although in Louisiana, it's not a pray-line lol! Love ya girl❤
Stan had a beautiful smile, I remember him on one of your show. my condolences to you and his family. seems like the praline is not all that difficult to make. I love the smell of evaporated milk. thanks Paula and Micheal , take care and be safe and Theresa and Eddie to.
That was so beautiful Paula, you have such grace my darling. I still remember you giving up that beautiful lemon to me in the grocer market in Nashville so many years ago! I loved your shows and visits to get those glorious pecans! Sending our family’s love and hugs to Stan and his family and to you and yours. 💖 {💛🍋}
Sorry for your loss of the GREAT CANDY MAN. Sending love and respect to his wife, children, and to the community, because, when the master has met his maker, there's some kind of loss in the taste of the original maker of Savannah Candy Kitchen. I always donate to Salvation Army. When I was a young woman I was struggling with two children, the Salvation Army, brought me enough food to cook for a small army. That has been more than 40 years ago, I will be forever, grateful, to this day I don't know how they knew I had it hard as a single MoM. As a small girl I used to go to the salvation Army, maybe God told them one way or another I will never forget thank you, Paula, and thank you, Stan, for continuing your help, and support to those less fortunate or just down on their luck. Thank you, for sharing this beautiful recipe. Your kindness through the Salvation Army along with your kind works through your community has given you points with the big guy. RIP Stan Strickland
I went to SCAD, and I lived about two blocks from River Street - I was spoiled and got to have pralines all the time. I miss them so much so I can’t wait to make them with this recipe!
Oh my goodness! We went there when we visited Savannah in 2007 (and also went to the Lady and Sons). I got a few yummy treats. May he Rest in Peace - he brought great joy to many with his sweet candies!
Evaporated milk is milk that has been concentrated by heating it until almost all of the liquid has evaporated. It makes it easier to digest, and it has fewer calories than regular milk.
