"I was the quiet one in Nirvana. I was the drummer. But most of you don’t know that I was the fifth drummer of Nirvana. For whatever reason, I got to be the luckiest person in the world and also be in Nirvana. But I have to give credit to all of the other drummers that came before me. Chad Channing, who was the drummer for Nirvana. Chad, where are you? I know that you’re here somewhere. So, here’s the thing - guess what Chad’s responsible for? If you listen to a song like “In Bloom” that’s Chad. When I joined the band, I had the honor of playing Chad’s parts, so Chad, thank you very much for allowing me to play your drum parts; I appreciate that very, very much." - Dave Grohl Rock N Roll Hall of Fame

Another fun fact about Nirvana - Kurt Cobain was actually a few inches above average height at 5’10” (5’11” without the severe scoliosis) He looks so short because bassist Krist Novoselic is 6’7”.

Came here to see if anyone commented on this. Don't know if the younger generations get the reference, but these guys' take on the Ed Sullivan/Beatles phenomenon is quite stark: take our parents' generation of iconic music, splash some cross-dressing, stage antics, and instrument bashing onto it, and you have the quintessential commentary of Gen-X's opinion of the baby boomer generation LMBO!!!

Yes, the crowd noise is distracting and overwhelming but I always loved this video because it shows that the band members didn't take themselves too seriously. 'Three nice, decent, clean-cut young men', yeah right. The video was a parody of musical performances from 1960s TV shows. Screaming ladies were a thing back then. Remember the live video of The Beatles' "Twist and Shout"? For another not so serious music video: Foo Fighters with "Learn To Fly" (Official Music Video). And if you would like some more screaming ladies: The Rolling Stones with their version of “Around and Around” on the Ed Sullivan Show 1964. You recently reacted to the Animals' version of that Chuck Berry song.

You need to check out the documentary Montage of Heck about Cobain. And Grunge is such a dirty word to the people from that science. Alice In Chains and Sound Garfen were hard Rock Metal Bands. Nirvana was a Punk rock band that just brought a different take on it. Pearl Jam was the band that rose from the ashes of the Love Rock band Mother Love Bone after the death of Andrew Wood and brought that pain of a kid that is forced to grow up to fast to their redefined sound with Eddie Vedder as lead. But the true soul of that scene was bands like Screaming Trees, Mud Honey ( and another pre Pearl Jam band Green River) or The Gits (RIP Mia Zapoata ) who where a punk garage band fronted by a Janis Joplin type talent who was an amazing blues singer the sane way Janus fronted the psychedelic bands as a blues singer at heart.

Kurt wanted so badly for this video to look authentic 60's, when he was told they could use the vintage kinescope cameras of that day to film it , he was all over it. What an artist we lost.

I was a teenager-20’s in the 90’s….actually, grunge didn’t last long because Cobain died In 1994…it was more of an alternative rock scene from 1995-1999, 2000’s was more of bands like Oleander, creed, Hinder, Nickelback, shinedown, 3 doors down, etc..

dave grohl admitted in an interview with Pharrell that he copied the style of the gap band and tony thompson...they called it the flam...and after i heard that interview you can hear his flam in his drumming...and yes, he is the one that formed foo fighters.

🖤Kurt Cobain. This is probably the song I most link Foo Fighters too. All other Foo Fighters is pretty different to Nirvana and I love Dave's drumming here so I guess thats why it is so close to my heart. Y'all need to get going on Foo Fighters since Jay is always wanting to rock out a little more often. Please watch the video of Learn To Fly it is so funny and the beginning of their sound.

The song "Breed" is never reacted to, probably because the title makes it sound dirty, but is one of the other sides of Nirvana that doesn't get anywhere near as much love as the slower, grungier stuff. "Sliver" and "Territorial Pissings" are fantastic too

Dave Grohl (drummer) did some of 2112 in concert with Rush after Neil passed away. So if Geddy and Alex think he’s good enough to cover for Neil, he’s a good drummer. You’ll need to check out the Foo Fighters, (his band) which he sings, plays the guitar, and he’s the songwriter for.
