Did you notice how y’all didn’t interrupt the song even one time to discuss it? It’s just that type of song. You don’t interrupt Master of Puppets! This was really beautiful to see you two just take the tune in, in its entirety, without feeling any need to break into it. That’s why you’re the best at this!

Believe it or not, this album is officially in the Library of Congress's National Recording Registry as of 2015, which means it was determined by the federal government to be preserved for all time because of its historical significance. It is the first metal album to be given this distinction. When “Master of Puppets” was released, it sold half a million copies with almost no commercial airplay, no music videos, and no mainstream promotion. Its success was 100% an organic product of fans. I personally think it is their best album, followed closely by Kill Em All (their first album) and I love that this received that type of recognition. Every song on the album is thought provoking and the band was only in their mid-20s when it was released to put things into perspective.

Wow amber. I’m amazed at the depth of your understanding of the lyrics. You totally get it. A lot of people react to this and even hearing the line “chop your breakfast on a mirror” they miss the meaning entirely. Major Kudos to you and J for reacting to this. Oh and for J. Now this is Metallica! They put it all out there on this album, and no one else was achieving this sound in 1986. They blew our minds, built a huge fan base and changed the metal scene! All without ZERO radio play and ZERO MTV airplay. I remember Metallica being featured in all the metal magazines, their albums were selling out in the record stores, and they toured everywhere. It wasn’t until their Black album in 1991 when they started to achieve real commercial success.

One of the reasons this song is so good is the way they transition from the soft melodic middle section back into the heavy sound, which then leads double-time into the solo. A lot of 80s thrash songs have a melodic middle section that doesn't really seem connected to the rest of the song, but this one does it right.

ROB SQUAD, AMBER, YOUR ABILITY TO INTERPRET SONG LYRICS HAS EITHER BEEN A NATURAL GIFT FROM THE VERY BEGINNING OR YOU HAVE REALLY GROWN IN YOUR ABILITY TO DO SO!! EITHER WAY IT IS QUITE AMAZING AND FRANKLY FUN TO WATCH AND 99.9% OF THE TIMES YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY CORRECT 💯!! ❤❤❤❤❤

What I find truly refreshing (and amazing) is that even though I've heard this song before, when I see your reactions, it is like I am opening my mind and senses once again and hearing something fresh and new. Thanks again for "getting it right". Peace.

That's exactly why I watch music reaction channels. I almost always learn something new about a song I've known and loved forever. I also lovelovelove seeing people discover and enjoy our generations music, which is the best ... 😉 Sometimes, I wonder about when I'm old, what are people gonna think seeing an 80 yr.old throwin' down Metallica?? ... 😮😮 😊😊

@@sarahdixon1943 I spoke to a "young man" yesterday who said he loved albums on vinyl. I assumed he meant "our" music like Lead Zeppelin and Pink Floyd. I asked him if he had any albums by those groups and he gave me a blank stare and said, "Who are they"? I helped him with his tax issue and sent him on his way. I feel so OLD now! LoL.

Metal is an incredibly vast and deep genre, where masterpieces are hidden deep within obscurity to be heard by very few. There is so much great metal that is extremely obscure and buried. These first four albums by the most famous and well known metal band of all time stand shoulder to shoulder with the absolute peak of the underground. A rare example of the best rising to the top in music.

That full sound is the work of producer Flemming Rasmussen in Copenhagen. Metallica has had many studio producers and many of their studio recording adventures are documented here on RU-vid. Give em a watch. It’s interesting to see how an album is pieced together.

saw them live on this tour, they opened for Ozzy, not many people knew who they were, but by the time they were done they had a bunch of new fans. Cliff Burton the bass player would die later on when there tour bus went off the road in Europe.

I bought that Metallica album when it first came out and have listened to it a million times since then. I can honestly say, I've never heard that song described so eloquently. You caught the meaning of the lyrics on the first go around, and you genuinely seemed to be under the spell of the song, as you described later on. What an awesome reaction video! I've been watching you two for months now and have caught up with ALL of your video reactions to date, and this is truly one of my favorites now. :)
