Alan "Blind Owl" Christie Wilson (July 4, 1943 - September 3, 1970) was an American musician, best known as the co-founder, leader, co-lead singer, and primary composer of the blues band Canned Heat. He sang and played harmonica and guitar with the group live and on recordings. Wilson was the lead singer for the group's two biggest U.S. hit singles: "On the Road Again" and "Going Up the Country". Unfortunately part of the "27 club" Wilson's death came just two weeks before the death of Jimi Hendrix, four weeks before the death of Janis Joplin, and ten months before the death of Jim Morrison, three artists who also died at the same age. Wilson was cremated, and on September 13, 1970 a memorial service was held at Menotomy Rocks Park in his hometown of Arlington. The service was led by Reverend Wilbur Canaday who said, "We are using the sky as a roof, and the ground as a floor, because he himself used nature’s great wonders as his home.” [22] Wilson's ashes were later scattered in Sequoia National Park amongst the redwoods he deeply loved.

You must hear "On The Road Again" by Canned Heat (not to be confused with the Willie Nelson Song with the same title); it's amazing. Alan Wilson is the lead singer for "On The Road Again"; he has a different vibe compared to Bob "The Bear" Hite, who sings "Bullfrog Blues."

Canned Heat was an awesome band, a "jam band" along the lines of the All man Bros or Greatful Dead. A very under-rated, under appreciated band, one of the all time greats. You should definitely watch the Monterey Pop movie. Great performances by Janis Joplin and Canned Heat. It was Jimi Hendrix's introduction to the American music scene. Watch for the look on Mama Cass's face when Jimi Hendrix is burning his guitar, it's priceless.

In 1975, I was taking a train from New Mexico to Chicago.. I was sitting next to an elderly lady.. She asked me if I had ever heard of a band called Canned Heat. I told her, of course, I had. She told me her son was in the band... But it's been so long ago, I don't remember which which guy it was.... But she was the nicest, sweetest lady... A lot of groups have done very different renditions of this song. David Bromberg Band did a very laid back version on their great album, How Late'll You Play Til? hey guys. Canned Heat awesome. Nuff said. I wanted to make a suggestion. You will not be disappointed. I promise!!! Also, it is a great choice for Female Friday. Three of the most beautiful voices ever. Three superstars. They got together out of respect and love for each others talent, and put together a super group. Okay. Dolly Parton, Linda Ronstadt and Emmylou Harris in a group called Trio. It's like having a direct line to heaven. lots of wonderful songs to choose from (they did a couple albums together). One of my personal faves is a song called "The Sweetest Gift (A Mother's Smile). Here is a link to that one. I think this was from Dolly's TV show. Oh and if you have never seen Dolly's TV show look for the opening to it on YT. She is in the bathtub and it shows her actual hair. No wig! Anyway here is the link to the song. Enjoy! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-LVu2L7eCv-I.html

Bullfrogs also feature in the Beatles' "Hey Bulldog" a very underrated Beatles track, and the one Ringo rates as his best drumming for the band.

This is good but nothing can measure up to RORY GALLAGHER'S live version(s) of Bullfrog Blues! I say versions because he never played it exactly the same way twice, and they were all great. Type Rory Gallagher Bullfrog Blues into the search box and the first two that come up are from The Old Grey Whistle Test 1976, and Rockpalast 1979. PLEASE react to either one, but watch both, Jay you will love them, 1st one has piano, second has amazing audience interaction, both have great bass/drum solos. oh and be sure to turn up the volume 😎

Your story about Amber and frogs reminds me of seeing a... garter snake, I guess, at the bottom of the staircase in front of my childhood sweetheart's house many many moons ago. Maybe a foot long, no bigger around than my thumb. When I happened to mention it to her and her mother some months later, her mother said, "Good thing Ruth (the owner) didn't see it. She'd have put the house up for sale!" 😂

It's the other way around the singers keep up with the guitar. Joy to the world - Three dog night. Do it for the fishes in the deep blue sea!

The early days of some good rocking blues. Canned Heat, Humble Pie, Status Quo, Peter Green and Fleetwood Mac (before Stevie Nicks and Christine McVie), Ten Years After, and many more.

Play refer Blues or whiskey women with John Lee Hooker. Guitar Blind Owl Wilson. They played Monterey Pop Festival in June of 1967. They played Woodstock in 1969. They have good videos at Woodstock Times Changes. Everything they played was Awesome Amazing ✌️.

You should listen to Jim Stafford's 1974 hit song called "Spiders & Snakes". Genre is country, pop, and swamp rock. It tells a story...and it's hilarious. And even though Amber doesn't like little critters...she'll love this song.
