Her solo top 10 hit "Rush Hour" was even a bigger hit than "Our Lips Are Sealed" with another memorable video. Highly recommend covering that classic song.
That's crazy! I had to see how both charted "Our Lips Are Sealed" peaked at #20 on the charts, and the song "Rush Hour" peaked at #9....That is criminal that "Our Lips Are Sealed" didn't peak in the top 10 for how much it was played back in the 80's, and how much it's still played today......both 80's bangers though!
Some lovely dolphins in that great "Rush Hour" video. It's also a delightfully catchy pop song. I believe I bought her solo album on tape back in the day.
What is happening, right now?!! First Lisa Loeb and now my all-time favorite Go Go! Geez! You guys are killing the game! Edit: I'm also a fan of Jane's solo career. Please react to her tune "Rush Hour" one day.
OMG. Love Jane and the Go-Gos! They were all so nice to my autistic son when they invited him backstage in Phoenix. He gave them directions to Vegas. 25 years later he still remembers it!!!
@@normabreazile5500 Yes they all signed his Go-Gos t shirt and we framed the picture with all of them & him in the middle without front teeth. LOL. They were SO nice.
Miles Copeland (who she mentioned was the President of their record company) is the brother of Stewart Copeland (the drummer and creator of The Police... the most talented, skilled drummer ever). ❤
Agreed on all accounts! Miles always looked like some background mafioso in dark shades who somehow ramrodded the fledgling Police into top-billing at all the local clubs.
@@GodLovesComics Haha! I know what you mean. The Copeland family background is fascinating. For those who don't know, their Dad (who I also believe is named Miles as well) is one of the founding members of the CIA. Stewart was born in the USA but they had to move to Beirut, Lebanon for CIA purposes. So Stewart grew up there, which is where he learned to love the drums and which also explains his culturally eclectic sounds on the drums. I just love him. ❤️
NO...WAY 🤩 I'm so glad Jane brought this version of this song to you and shared its backstory! I love the Specials and Terry Hall was a beautiful soul.
Jane was one of my earliest celebrity crushes. That part of the video where she's by herself in the back of that classic convertible, singing those high, clear notes, with those pixie features, and those expressive eyes...something in my heart just went *SNAP*. I've loved her since that day.
Terence Edward Hall (19 March 1959 - 18 December 2022) was a British musician who came to prominence as the lead singer of the 2-tone band the Specials, and later recorded with groups such as Fun Boy Three.
Jane is my favorite member of the Go Go’s. They were my very first concert in 1982 when I was 14! I have seen them in concert for a total of 7 times. I still listen to their albums.
I have always loved the Go-go's, I even have them in my phone's music files and listen regularly. But, as a drummer, I have always held Gina as my favorite Go-go.
Holy Cow, I tuned in excited to hear Jane’s comments and then she hits us with Fun Boy Three, this is so ridiculously good I can’t get over it. What an amazing addition to the channel this concept is. ✌️
You guys are STELLAR hosts! Natural born hosts. You're already doing things that even seasoned interviewers can't do - you let your guests talk. And your interactions with them are like you're all old friends, relaxed , groovy, natural. So proud of you guys, for all you've accomplished, and SO appreciate your letting us come along for the ride. Great job guys! ❤
Whoa wow! How are you @RobSquad guys talking to Jane Wiedlin!? Oh my goodness, good for you guys, growing your influence. It blew my mind seeing you live-talking to Jane of the Go-Go's. How did you *do* that? Excellent!!
The Go-Go's were My Band back in the 80s! ELO in 70s & Go-Go's in the 80s!! I wore those LP's OUT!! Jane is a such natural Beauty! WoW! Congrats Y'all on this new Venture!✌️ WoW
Jane brought a Fun Boy Three song!!! You’ll love Fun Boy Three w/Bananarama- "It Ain't What You Do (It's the Way That You Do It)" ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-pOHfn2m9nlU.html and Bananarama w/Fun Boy Three- “Really Saying Something” !!! Both are upbeat and fun!!!
The Beauty and the Beat album is why I became a drummer! I was 6 when that album came out and I used chopsticks and a pillow to drum along to the entire thing. I adore the Go-Go's.
ROB SQUAD, I can see already that one of the things that I LOVE and will continue to LOVE about this new format that you guys are doing here is the awesome stories that these artists tell that we've NEVER heard before!!! Like Jane's story about how they made the Our Lips are Sealed video!! ❤ Another FANTASTIC🎉 reaction!!!❤❤
Oh my gosh, if you could have heard the audible gasp I let out when I saw Jane's name! I keep hoping you'll do her collab with the band Sparks, called "Cool Places." It's just so awesome. And so is she. Wow, I'm impressed!
I met Jane and the Go-Gos's 40 years ago when they were on tour. They were all very nice and took pictures with us and let us on their tour bus. Also met INXS as they were touring together.
Wasn’t a big fan of them at the time but as an adult whose mind and tastes have evolved PLUS actually learning more about the members individually and as a collective, I have mad respect for them. They are pioneers, they have paved the way for all other all female groups behind them and they unequivocally belong in the RRHOF!
Man… 14:47 Jane is something special and I always loved her growing up. You two are conversing with artists that are legendary..I’m so happy for you two congratulations!
This was excellent, Jane seems so lovely as well as being beautiful. She's right Terry was a shy person, not at all you'd think of as a front man. I highly recommend that you react to "Rush Hour" by Jane, I promise you won't be disappointed.
I’m so happy for RSR’s success. You’ve come so far in less than three years. I don’t know how you can keep your composure talking with these legends. I would be so star struck. So proud of you two!
OH The GoGo's were definitely deep in the LA Punk Scene - Belinda with her buzz cut wearing a garbage bag, Hellow?! PLUS ya'll need to React to THIS TOWN to get "edgier" GoGo's
RIP Terry Hall. One of my musical heroes. The Colourfield is my favorite of his numerous projects. And Vegas with Dave Stewart is wonderful too. This was absolutely AWESOME! Thanks to Rob Squad & Jane for doing it!!
My ex-husband's sister used to hang out with The Go-Go's in Hollywood before they made it big when they were still punk because she was a punk rocker. Her name is Rose Jane may or may not remember her since it's been 40 years.
OMG It's Joan of Arc from Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure!! Jane's album "Fur" is awesome. It gives you such a lovely warm feeling. You should listen to Rush Hour from it.
Jane also had a couple of really great singles as a solo artist that you should do, "Rush Hour" and "Blue Kiss." I know that Jane came up with the very unusual, attention grabbing F-D-Bb-E chord progression in the pre-choruses of Our Lips Are Sealed that really makes the song stand out compositionally, which just wasn't something the average songwriter would've come up with and was a real bona fide Eureka moment stroke of natural musical genius. 42 years later and I'm still a Jane Wiedlin fan. Cheers!
Jane Wiedlin has some really good solo albums as well. Tangled is one of my wife's favorites. I bought it for myself back in the day, but she pretty much commandeered it.
I was fortunate to have seen the Go-Gos when they opened for the Police in AZ, just after their first album was released. I didn't know who they were before their set started, but I was drawn in right from the first song and have loved them ever since. They were fabulous live. How Much More is my favorite song.
WHOA WHOA WHOA!!!!!! What did i just listen too??? I was an occasional fan of the Go-Go's back in the day BUT ive never heard this song like THIS. WOW!
Bought Fur by this lady. On tape cassette and played it until it wouldn't any more. I still haven't thrown it away. Great with the GO Go's and Solo. Good to see her looking well. May she, and you guys, friends an family, and all who visit here be, and remain well.
Jay and Amber always loved the Go Go's. After jane had a solo career with a hit song called Rush Hour brings back memories when i got my first girlfriend in my senior year the year i graduated in 1988.
They r def a fun, feel good vibe. Amazing group of women and def deserve to be in the Hall of Fame. Jane is still so adorable. Thanx so much, Peace ✌ ✌
Jay/Amber, You’ll love the 1st All-Female rock band to release Albums(4) on a major label(‘70-‘73) And TOUR extensively. Fanny’s “Place in the Country”(1971)LIVE ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QkVYnVAEMIU.html . Their name was chosen to denote a female spirit, not a sexual connotation. David Bowie said "They were one of the finest fucking rock bands of their time, in about 1973. They were extraordinary: they wrote everything, … they were just colossal and wonderful, and nobody's ever mentioned them. They're as important as anybody else who's ever been, ever; it just wasn't their time." He said this to Rolling Stone magazine in 1999. Classic lineup June Millington - lead vocals/lead guitar; Jean Millington - lead vocals, bass; Nickey Barclay - lead vocals, keys; Alice de Buhr-drums, vocals. The 1 song you did of theirs was not with the classic lineup.
I lived in L.A. in the mid 80’s to mid 90’s and would go by the fountain which my girlfriend pointed out to me that was the fountain that the Go Go’s were in. Love Jane’s solo song “Rush Hour”.Still have the “Fur” cd. Saw the Go Go’s in Houston. I took my 10yo brother to the show at the Summit in 1982.
In 1982 I went on my first trans-Atlantic trip to England. On that Wardair flight I listened to a lot of songs including Our Lips Are Sealed over and over. Every time I hear it I think of that exciting trip, bopping to the song as I was looking out the window to the North Atlantic icebergs and clouds gracefully drifting back far below!
I love all bands mentioned here, Go-Gos, the Specials & Fun Boy Three. This version of the song is my favourite though. Jane’s also done some acting in her time! She has a brief cameo in the 80s movie Clue. If you haven’t seen that one yet then you need to, it’s a classic
