In German we say “der ist von einem anderen Holz geschnitzt.” It means literally “he’s carved from a different piece of wood.” It’s a way of saying there’s a different instinct or nature within someone. Jocko is one of those people.
He's a natural warrior, people are born like that, history is full of them. One can try to emulate his character and mindset and they'd be doing a pretty good job with some effort, but, in the end, excellence comes down to being gifted.

@@Numantino312 Software maker? I'm sure there are vets who have gone into coding, but I can't think of a single software maker I'd realistically call "a warrior." Unless he had a side gig, perhaps :P. Who was it who said that it's better to be a warrior in a garden than a gardner in war--Miyato Musashi? So I guess there are warriors who work as software developers for their day job, for soldiering doesn't really pay much these days, and the military tends to rule out _a lot_ of brave men due to certain arbitrary physical shortcomings. The Marine Corps turned down Audie Murphy because he was too short, ffs. (I guess the crayon-eaters never heard of Simo Hayha. At 5'2", he was a little over 4" shorter than Audie Murphy.)

I've had major health issues all of my life, these videos are so inspiring I started researching how to overcome them naturally I very slowly started exercising and got my diet on point, it's as if I'm a different person, not everyone can be a badass hero so I want to thank those who are, thank you Jocko for all your service

I've never experienced a high threat situation but I love that feeling that i get when I'm on the hunt. I feel almost second natured. Nothing breaks that pure concentration on my prey. I feel alive. With the only thing bringing me back to my body being the kick of the gun into my shoulder. Full of strength.
