Rod Stewart has that distinctive gruffy voice that I love so much!! Other hits of his: The Motown Song (w The Temptations), Tonight's the Night (Gonna Be Alright), Forever Young, Do Ya Think I'm Sexy, Some Guys Have All The Luck, Twistin' The Night Away (from the movie Innerspace, worth a watch!!), Love Touch (from Legal Eagles, also worth a watch!!), Reason To Believe, You're In My Heart, and Infatuation... Keep smiling!! 🎵😁🎵
Oh My God !!!! " Infatuation", "Twistin the night away", " What I gonna do", " People get Ready", " You're insane", " Heart is on the line", " Dynamite" ........... Perfect songs💥
My favorite line from that song is, "life is so brief and time is a thief when you're undecided." Wiser words have never been spoken.... When you're 17 and listening to this song it has a whole different meaning! Sir Rod Stewart has had an incredible and long career in putting out some truly classic music! Nice reaction guys and clearly you will be putting up more of RS and I approve lol!!
Some Guys Have All The Luck - Rod Stewart. Jay/Jay, this was another top five chart topping banger from Rod Stewart. Love to see you react to this dancey fun tune! Keep up the great work and thank you!
The title of Rod's Box Set retrospective was Storyteller, and to me, that sums up him up perfectly. There are fun songs like "Hot Legs" and songs like "The Killing of Georgie, Parts 1 & 2" that will break your heart, but at his best he's always telling an engaging story. "Young Turks" is a great example. BTW, the Box Set's full title is, "Storyteller - The Complete Anthology 1964-1990", just to let you know how long Rod has been setting the standard for excellence.
Yes and/but there has been another whole career worth of material since then. There's been the whole American Songbook era I think 5 albums and he released a boxed set of that on its own. Then about 10 over studio albums apart from the American Songbook. I really loved unplugged and seated. It was the first collection where he really really reimagined his old songs and they were wonderful in acoustic format. Of course a lot of them really were acoustic anyway...the old old countryish songs from when he first left the faces are perfect in an unplugged collection. My fav from that album is called cut across shorty. But he did great with having a party and also stay with me which were previously plugged IN. Since then he has also worked up the original vocals backed by a symphony orchestra too.
Rod Stewart career spans A LONG TIME, and he's had so many hits, combined with his sexual presence for so many years, makes him a legend! A great song I'd like to recommend of his is titled "PEOPLE GET READY" with a phenomenal guitarist named JEFF BECK. The two worked together on and off through their careers, and this song is just great, showcasing Rod's vocals and Jeff's guitar playing. It came out in 1985, and to fully appreciate the context, you should watch the official video. Thank you RSR family for these fun trips down memory lane in the form of great music we share.
"People Get Ready" with Rod Stewart and Jeff Beck is definitley the best suggestion! Fantastic cover. I`m also certain that Rod Stewart`s "The Motown Song" featuring The Temptations will become one of their favorites by him.
Tonight I'm yours is so good. It was on the same album as Young Turks I think. They share a lot often same vibes. The instrumentation and even the melody are so similar. Different lyrics for sure. Tonight I'm yours video will make a sailor blush.
Rod Stewart has such a huge catalog. So many great songs. "Reason to Believe", "Sailing", "Forever Young", "You Wear it Well". He did a great cover of Cat Stevens' "The First Cut is the Deepest". Actually he's done many great R&B covers, too.
This is early 80s Rod Stewart Rod has always been my favorite male vocalist. Stevie Nicks is favorite female singer. When they toured together I was incredibly sad that those 2LEGENDS couldn't pull off a duet together
Love this song about young love that came out right when I was old enough to appreciate it. I think it was my first exposure to Mr. Stewart. Five songs into his discography, you've gotten a great sense of his style. For your next one, you can go back to his 70s stuff ("You Wear It Well", "You're in My Heart", or "Ain't Love a B***h"), or you can explore more of his 80s tunes ("Passion", "Baby Jane", "Some Guys Have All the Luck"). It's really tough to go wrong with Rod Stewart.
I don't remember how many times I've seen Rod live but it's been many and between seeing shows and buying albums and tapes I've paid for at least one tune-up on his Ferrari. This song was Rod's first using a drum machine. (A little useless trivia)
Rod the Mod, 60's ,70's and now the 80's here. I can name that singer in one note. In a Rolling Stone interview he was asked of all his awards which one meant the most. He said... when he was on the cover of Model Railroader Magazine. He collects model trains.
I'm 56 and was in high school when this song came out. I wish I was conscious enough to have heard the message but I wasn't I was a headstrong youth, joined the US Army at 19 and thus began my journey. This song reminds me of the youth I lost out on, but at the same time I relish the memories I made in the military. Most of all it brings me back to that time when we all thought magic was real and that the movement of the day was all we needed to fix the world...how naive we were..
My Rod Stewart Story: Was at his concert and at some point, during the concert Rod kicks an autographed soccer ball into the crowd. We had decent seats & at one point a young girl that had nosebleed tickets snuck into our row sitting one chair from me. I didn't care. The time comes, the ball is flying my direction & I jumped and put my hand up, stopping the ball, which dropped to the floor & before I could pick it up the girl next to me grabbed the ball and bolted. LOL I wonder if she still has it. 🥰
He kicked the soccer balls because he was a soccer star before he became a rock star. He was recruited to play professional soccer but decided to stick with singing with the Faces. Imagine all that music that we would not have right now if he had decided differently!
I loooove Rod, please react to "I WAS ONLY JOKING", it's about his childhood and is a great song and has brilliant lyrics telling a story.....he is a great singer/songwriter 😘
In the 80's, I went to Sun City in South Africa to watch Rod Stewart......He came out and said I have a surprise for you all.....Please welcome my friend Elton John. They then spent 2 hours doing Rod's top songs together...... A concert I will never forget!
I was an 80's teenager and it's hard to really explain what it was like. So much freedom, so much amazing music & bands to see. It was just different. I think we were all a little extra wild then. I have an extra special spot for Rod Stewart because Maggie May is the 1st song I ever remember hearing. I was 4 under giant 1970's headphones, listening on a reel to reel, laying on the floor coloring. It's a super clear memory & it was Maggie May playing. Love Rod Stewart. Cat Stevens too because the 2nd song I remember in that picture frame moment is Cat Steven's Moonshadow. My mom has good taste in music. lol
Here are some more great Rod Stewart song: Infatuation, Passion, The Motown Song(with The Temptations), This Old Heart Of Mine(with Ronald Isley), My Heart Can’t Tell Me No, People Get Ready(with Jeff Beck).
A couple a my favourite Rod Stewart performances from his early days: "Mandolin Wind" from the album 'Every Picture Tells A Story" and "I Ain't Superstitious" from the album 'Truth' when Rod was in Jeff Beck's group. Jeff Beck is a phenomenal and unique guitar player. Jeff Beck's time with the Yardbirds produced some great songs: "Shapes of Things" , "Over Under Sideways Down" and "Heart Full of Soul". 🎤🎸🎶😎
For some great Rod Stewart cuts from 1971/72, I recommend “Maggie May,” “Mandolin Wind,” You Wear It Well,” or - with Faces - “Stay With Me,” “Debris,” or his great version of Chuck Berry’s “Memphis, Tennessee.” I can’t help feeling “Stay with Me” would be your favorite. “Sailing” is another great one from the ‘70s.
If you're gonna react to Rod Stewart eventually you have to get around to "Maggie May" his first big hit and "Hot Legs" which is more along the Do You Think I'm Sexy vein. Late 70's early 80's was nearly all Rod. He's still active today in his late 70's!
Ah, that voice. Rod Stewart is one of a kind, in a class of his own. I think this was probably the first song of his that made it into my consciousness in a big way when I was a child. From then on I loved everything he did. Endless hits!
Yes it's a good un. He got in trouble with John Lennon over that song. The whole oh Georgie stay don't go away part (essentially the part 2 of the song) was very similar to the song don't let me down by the Beatles. I don't know if they ever reconciled that but John was like 🙄
Such an incredible song. There’s a live version of it from Top of the pops that’s just a beautiful performance! I’d love to see you Jay and Amber react to that one!
Lol.....at 55 I still remember the words to this song! It was my first concert! Young Turks song just came out, it was the concert theme.....I was around 15. 1981.....Great song....😊👍
I think my favorite Rod Stewart song is actually a Jeff Beck song where Rod did the vocals, People Get Ready. Probably his most soulful performance it would be great to see your reactions to it.
Definitely one of my favorite Rod Stewart songs! Appreciate you diving further into his extensive library. Please hit “Passion”, “Crazy About Her”, and “Infatuation”. Crazy About Her is especially a funky soulful side to him with a seductive sax!
Crazy about her is super fun! I was standin outside the met one day when she drove by in a black Corvette. I said hey baby! I coulda died. she looked straight through me. But I know...she's DEStined to be mine.
I so love Rod Stewart!! I think I'm older than your mom!! I'm 64 yrs old and was a young adult in the 80's and a teen in the 70's!! I was a wild thing back then, so I can relate!! I even had the Shag hairstyle something like Rod!! Crazy, fun times!!
As a teen in the 80's, this song was one of my anthems! Rod Stewarts best song, in my opinion. It still makes me want to go out and dance in the streets and on top of cars!
Rod Stewart is a freakin legend. Loved this reaction. Some guys have all the luck, forever young and his remake of this ole heart of mine are also great
You just solved a mystery for me. The chorus of this song kept creeping on me all my life and I had no idea who sang it or what it was called. It makes perfect sense that it's Rod Stewart. My parents indoctrinated me with Rod's music when I was in kindergarten.
I have always love Rod Stewart, these songs are of my teenage years, break from school and hanging with the family and friends. Hearing this makes me so happy, tears are running down my face 🥰🥰🥰
I started listening to Rod Stewart in I believe 1971. Maggie May was the first song I heard. We lived in Malta. I was 15. That was 50 years ago. I'll be 65 next week. Wow. I still listen to Rod Stewart. I always will!
There is a tremendous song/story Rod sings from his earlier years entitled 'The Killing of Georgie | Parts 1 & 2'. Rod has at least 20 must hear songs in his discography.. This (Young Turks)is early to mid 80's and one of my Top 5 from him...
I was about 9 years old when this came out. I was just discovering rock and roll, as my father was a die-hard country fan and I didn't have my own radio. When I got my first radio, this was literally the first song I heard in my bedroom...and the music transported me. In the movie 'Almost Famous' (2001) there is a quote that really encapsulates what happened to me, listening to Rod Stewart singing this song: "Music, you know, true music - not just rock n roll - it chooses you. It lives in your car or alone listening to your headphones, you know, with the vast scenic bridges and angelic choirs in your brain. It's a place apart from the vast, benign lap of America." - Rock Journalist and Critic Lester Bangs (played by Phillip Seymour Hoffman) Thanks, you two!
Amber, I would love to see your Mom on the channel. I was a teen in the 80s and it worked out well. We had such a good time in the 80s!! Make somebody smile!
Rod Stewart was the first album I bought in 1975. I know em all & my suggestions would be , Stay with me , people get ready, & Sailing. But he has so many….. I was only joking is great as well.
