I wish I knew resources like these vids were available when I was getting started two years ago. I made A LOT of mistakes early and rushed and got all the way to level 30 before I realized how weak I was for my level. Great video, Rev!

I love my Saladin at ops 35 and an alliance member who is ops 39 still uses his Saladin. It is one of the best ships in STFC and I have never regretted building it.

Building both the Vi'Dar and the Saladin and maxing both puts you into the camping mindset...which is all too often ignored to the player's detriment. Yes, EVERYTHING around that time needs crystal, but there's no deadline for hitting an Ops level, just suck it up and grind it out. By the time I was 31 I had the Vi'Dar, Saladin, and two Horizons at max tier. My Saladin took me all the way to Ops 34 without having to mope around in an under-tiered lvl 32 ship, and all the ore I built up while waiting for the crystal allowed me to take my Augur to T6 immediately (while at the same time winning the Picard/Bev spend event, heh). I could even go up another tier right away but I decided to wait to rebuild a stock of battleship parts before doing so in lieu of spending more lat. You can survive to Ops 34 in any of the lvl 28 ships. But doing it in the Saladin made it easy.

I'm a long term player (started Nov of 2018 on server 22, and this summer decided to have a second account on server 69. I'm 100% free to play on both servers and have never paid Scopely a $. My server 69 account is now ops 33. In my view the number one key to success in the game is to understand what is going to change when you change ops levels/ faction rep levels. Then focus on being prepared for that next level or level after that. Complete your dailies and if you can't focus on being able to. In my second attempt at the game when a low level player I focused on keeping the builder and researcher running and getting ship bps and parts to get my fleet of Envoys up to 4 (at T6+ warp upgrade) to get to the neutral 18k nodes. Moving to lvl 20 plus ships I took the Kehra to T4, Vhaklas to T2, and Kumari was only built but no upgrades. Those ships did my regular and faction dailies while dual grinding to get me the Legionary at ops 26. I'm about half way to dual faction lock and do not do extra rep grinding just regular faction dailies. When I hit 34 I'll get scrapyard there and be scrapping a maxed Legionary and D3 to get all those free primes especially the +1 3* refines. Then my hostile game will be carried by my Vidar until I can get an Enterprise. In terms of crystal my only real use so far has been Vidar but it's bottlenecked by probes. I still do my mining with 4 Envoys also have BB, Divor, Stella, Meridian, and Disco. Disco is a big focus for me currently at T6 with spore comps on hand to get to T7 and need about 20k to max for Disco Refinery. Plan to get a faction miner after scraping D3, but only one so I can focus on leveling enough to get to 4* nodes. Do your dailies, so the events, ships eventually become ship hangar queens so focus on Research, Station, and officers. Big focus on materials effecency research! Ok I'm shutting up now. Lol

The problem is you will have a hard time getting your dailies done without 1 of the common ships. A Talla will not carry you to lvl25 and you will never get the ViDar blueprints from cosmic cleanup. I recommend a Vahklas and duel factioning Rom/Fed, get the Legionary and upgrade it slowly.

I personally skipped the Sally way back and never regretted it, makes the crystal crunch a lot easier

Yes, I skipped the lollipop... I do have two Stella's... My Bortas can travel to the new clusters to the right of Klingon space that is marked as Warp range 61. But with Ghrush and Cadet Scotty (and Helvia to get there faster), I was able to unlock all those systems! I also found several broken warp paths and level 54 systems that will also open with my 52 Bortas! YaY Scopely!

I still use my Saladin for cheap base cracking at ops 45. (120-160m power bases) khan Harrison Lorca can kill defending ships round one in first kinetic shot. But definitely agree to focusing the specialty ships and ignoring the g3 common ships

I went Bortas to focus on Vidar and a horizon. It worked out great. I still use my bortas as an extra rep grinding ship at 39.

Great timing, I got to OPS19 yesterday and yes my account is ahead of yours (thank god). So far I've been religiously wanting Kumari and Saladin based on your prior videos, never thought much about discovery or franklin, but I guess your comments in this video reflect the most recent development of the game, and will happily follow your advice. I might still build the Kumari though, otherwise I won't have warship to use, don't think my Talla can last from OPS18 to OPS34...

I started more then a month behind a lot of my hardcore alliance mates. Most went Sally and thus stagnated due to crystal shortages. Meanwhile uncommons didn't hold me back. Going from a t6 vahklas into a t8 bortas and arriving ahead of most low spenders at the 34epics. That was within 6 months time, no regrets and thank you Rev for recommending the Bortas back then 👍

I agree with everything, except skipping the Sally. Granted, I grinned hostiles for mine, but I still spent time upgrading it because it is a strong ship for lots of jobs. The lower levels DO get way more resources than we used to 3 years ago, so upgrading these ships probably won't be as big a problem. My alt account has four Envoys maxed because it's easy to get and upgrade them even at level 17. Get the Vidar, get the sally, upgrade them. I'd agree; only get 1 Horizon and move one, upgrade for the WR ... but again, even mining has been easier for lower levels. Depending on your faction, I'd upgrade the faction ships if you can. You don't want to dump all of your resources into a level 1 uncommon faction ship all at once just to scrap. Easier to do that over time.

Change ship show up by grade ( that is full useless) to by shipyard level. I tell it on all CC videos about ships construction

The Saladin/Bortas/Cent are still worth it. They take uncommons but their power is extremely useful into the low 30s. We tend to be able to punch higher on hostiles with them. It takes sooo long to get the level 34 ships it would be a nightmare to grind rep or faction currency without one of them. Not to mention being able to grind hostiles and have a spare ship for alliance armadas.

Handy as always Rev, and not just for the Syndicate reminder (actually remembered that today!) Currently at L26, just building my Horizon, and was working out where to focus next and if the Saladin was worth it or whether to just start on heading to the Bortas and then the specialist ships Just a question re camping, still building steadily and trying not to race ahead, but if on a server thats still capped at 39 is this less an issue? am already in range of the handful at the top level so not opening myself up to more by advancing... or are there other reasons to delay levelling?

I’ve rarely had a problem with Crystal, but it seems like I’m consistently short on gas. For research, building, and ships.

Sally changed my game almost overnight, probably reason i am still playing, put enjoyment back in game. Id say get Sally and miss out next, b'rel etc.

I am divided on advice like this. If your goal is to level up as quickly as possible and remain competitive, sure the vidar can complete with others if you religiously grind borgs. But my issue with advice like this is you miss a lot of the game rushing simply to advance your ops and alwayshunting in the same zomes. This lack of variability makes me fear burnout. I took a different course and have gotten many ships that have slowed me down. I built up a d3 to t7 while collecting Saladin bps. I have 2 of the 3 faction miners. I am about to build a b'rel or Gladius even though I am 35 and have begun farming epic bps. Why? I am not in a rush. I am enjoying collecting ships and intend to sit at 35 a good long while while I collect more than just the Enterprise. If your single goal is to grind ops as quickly as possible realize that you are missing out on a lot of the game. That's fine if this is your goal but STFC is a marathon not a series of sprints. If you build your endurance to be a sprinters you risk tiring out. If you build your endurance to be a marathoners you will find yourself lasting longer I think.

Honestly I skipped the salidin and built the bortas and I have not been disappointed. It may be slow but its my primary workhorse and gets the job done

Skipping ships is a really smart thing to do. I wish I had skipped more.

I'm at 32 with max Sally & t8 bortas. That won't be maxed for a long time because of the 4-500 rare ore the guns need. I've finished out the missions for all 3 factions before deep space. I can't imagine being able to do that with a vidar or even my t8 bortas. My Sally is also making my Rom grind easier. I just can't agree with you on skipping it. Yes it's a crystal hog, and quite a bit pricier to run than a vidar, but it's that much more capable & has way longer legs IMO, that it's worth the spend. I do fully agree with focusing on specialty ships (and especially the related research). I've only gotten the disco in the last month & wish I had it at level 21. I didn't do it myself, but I think NS to Vidar to Sally is the most efficient, and effective route. No matter what path you take at low levels, you still have a massive wall with the lvl 34 epics. On my server (60) we have more than a few high 30s, low 40s that have only gotten epics recently. People need ships to carry them reasonably, and somewhat competently to the mid 30s. The Vidar is not that. Still critical to have & max, but not a suitable primary past lvl 30 IMO. People will get bored and or desperate & start going for rares at lvl 32 (nice ships, but wasteful of mats).

What's the benefit of having a maxed Botany Bay? I'm level 31, my BB is t7, fully upgraded. Is there a point pushing it to t9, now that I have an almost maxed Horizon and a second on the way?

That would be a good idea. Server politics are very interesting. Some people are so out of touch with reality. Especially whale groups.

Trying to follow the valid plan of avoiding uncommon ships, but starter ships are already hitting a wall re dailies as dual rep is already at tolerated. Any advice would be appreciated 🙂

have an F2P alliance member who grabbed a D3, all specialty ships and in their late 20's and trying to push from D3 to B-Rel skipping the 28's altogether and relying on specialty

My alliance of 3 is at war with a major alliance yet the only thing they do is attack miners near do they come face us head on. They just wanted a way around roe in my opinion .

So I'm on my third time through don't ask but I'm camping at lvl 21 the reasons are ruffly the same but I'm maxing the northy here as I'm going one faction first and the speed ups for dule factions are more useful later in on my last leg to lock now it's not quite been 3 months since I started this one I'm scrapping one envoy every 2 weeks I've opened all kln officers and disco franky still maxing bb I've got 34 ships either ready to scrap or working on I know at lvl25 all 2 star ships give 2 blues so I'm saving the others till then but I'm still maxing them I have a rule hit 400 hostile a day day in day out

I am doing free to play and your level 19 has way for stuff than mine. officers are higher and more of them. I am dual grinding, but I feel like I must be doing something wrong.

I've not figured out how to get the resources to upgrade my BB at level 19 other going beyond that level. What am I missing? Have been looking at the Augment missions I could do, but does not seem like enough.

I rode the NS all the way to Vidar and skipped the uncommon ships. If I did not have NS i would have done vahklas.

Why camp at 19 vs 20 or 21 where you can refine 3*? I'm new. Ended up going to 20 because I felt like there were so many things I couldn't progress in. I have to stay shielded either way so I figured why not? Did I screw myself?

I'm only level 17 and hitting a wall and can't seem beat quests as the ships are way higher than my turas and talla.

I had no idea it was to do with crypto. Got the April Fool thing but thought they were making fun of themselves and prices. My gripe is random number of things, I have 116 dvor bps, after using photon tokens today. I have no idea where I got the 6, what use is 6? I didn't buy them in any event store. Come on with the random numbers scopely, I have 19 discovery refine things. This week I'll finally get that extra one from the rewards and can do one extra chest in a few days

For a server wars vid you'd have to skip server 65. It's STFV (Star Trek FarmVille). The only pvp is OPC and the occasional base raid. I left server 17 at level 32-33 due to the mats bottleneck and there was more activity over there even though a lot of players had left.

How to get Transport patterns?

Yes we have had major wars on server 38...but actually have come to s full change in social dynamics ...for example people who we had been basically real enemies...couldn't stand each other period...now are allies and even some people are now in Alliances they despised about a year ago...TC zones basically I feel assisted in bringing people together more honestly..before TC zones it was wild west mentality get or get got...I am in TFWD (Ten Forward) alliance and we have been shaping the server up along with a couple other alliances we allied with and it has become better socially..but game lacks excitement like it had a year ago...my opinion...scopely always speaks about fairness in game for all players...but fall short in their game mechanics..such as random number generated resources that are required to build and expand...some get lucky and get things while others pull 3 days in a row only common mats nothing they are in need of uncommon and rares..thats not to fair at all...there should be a base guaranteed amount of rare,uncommon and common then that would be fair ..my opinion.

So, could you then just not get the uncommon faction ships and just get the rare and epic ships for players in the 20's.

In all the other videos of yours I've watched, you always stress how good cadet Mccoy and Urura are for hostiles. Why are there shards not available anymore, or are they hiding them somewhere else?

Okay... hold on. Im OP 20 going to OP 21. I sat at 19 till I had my researches done. Im dual faction friendly/favored. I have augment up and a botany bay. I bought a Northstar, so "low spender" level here. But you are saying skip theKehra/Vahklas/Kumari. Okay fine, can do, Northstar more than enough for 20s. You say focus on "grinding" the Franklin... HOW do you grind a Franklin? Only thing I've ever seen is Cosmic Cleanup event store, all 9 bp a time... it'd take MONTHS to get it. Sit at 19, 20, 21 or whatever for months? Wouldn't people just quit out of sheer boredom? And then what ship am I supposed to use in the mid 20s? Not my faction ship, not the Sally. I really don't understand what you are recommending here.

Yes, skip Saladin, and spend fed faction credits on officers, other faction use for ships and officers. Maybe for second faction Klingons, as you will build borthas, and battleships takes ore, and you will tier it up more easily

Humans will be humans...hence why so many things are the same across servers

It's already outdated for an updated video. As of May 2023, Saladin is no longer hands down best 28 ship. The bortas is better for armadas, and dailies. Saladin is better base cracker and PvP. You will be happy with either. Nobody I know likes the Centurion.

Actively at war with 1/2/3/4/7/8/ - plus in terr takeovers (back when those were a thing) they call on #5/9/12 We are #6, but have 17/19 helping us. -- Of course, when you dont care about TS anymore, and you notice they are all piled up in TS, it does make firebombing all the miners easier, and I'm over 6 digits in ISO. #ToxicServer30
