That rock has another further out and a gully behind it and that’s why you lost gear. On a bigger tide you can walk out where u were casting into about a foot and a half of water. On a bigger tide water will go out revealing a bank which u can walk out on to. important to all when you get out there you put your bag down and do not !!!!!! Not move it. Fish tide down move your rod rest n bait not bag. When tide starts coming in and reaches your bag you Go right away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you are not packed bundle it and run. Go back the way you came if there is water behind you keep going or die use rods to keep balance. I used to fish for cod at night here. This is probably the most dangerous mark I know in the Severn and there is a very real risk of getting swept away and no one would ever see you again. Would not recommend go to lady bay on low if you have to fish l tide. Small hooks 👍👍👍
The only thing you will catch there is a bloody cold, You have got to go down past Minehead, where the speed of water has reduced and you can start catching fish.
if all bait collectors take that meny crabs and worms away from the enviroment every day of the year , is it possible that the stocks will be depleted in the near future. .

If youve not had a bite within 2 mins of casting theres none there try further out or closer in. Keep alternating far out then close in. Ot two rods. Codling dont play about they guzzle the bait immediately
Squid head is by far the best part I’ve fished it for many years. That venue looks tough by any standards, well done for staying positive. Also looks like a death trap for the unwary, love the adventure all the same
He's baits are off the scale from what I've seen and heard im dying to get my hands on some of that crab to freeze down ready for the hounds well done boys banging video as always
Hi Rhys love all your vids the banter is class, the channel is like nothing else to fish, Clevedon / Kingston Seymour to Portishead is my local stretch but do travel up past the bridge's and down to Bossington area, did have a chuckle at how you were trying to say Aust (it can be pronounced as Awst or Ost). That tide thing was just a big eddy where tide gets forced through the main channel 20 m plus deep under the far side of bridge and fills around the back into the shallows. The deep bit is unfishable from boat or land. There is almost like a step on the river it goes from about 5 M and just drops right off I’ve seen it on a sounder from the boat. There’s whirlpool s the suck you down type over there. 👍👍👍

Severn bore might have something to do with it. I sort of remember seeing a thing about it on the news or Tomorrow's world or something and the tide was pissing through in the wrong direction.
Great video wouldnt want to fall into that tide run its fast that someone's got alot of crabs lol I think you need to start doing a rating on all the places for sausage and chips that you try haha
U wanna fish rotten bottoms with some old leads ,,,clip down on a imp or link with bait holder ,fish short pulley pennel or single hook ,,,or use hooks that a bend out ,,saves losing all ya gear

Plastic lifters work well. Always used to use them but they get snagged. You need a stiff rod with a big tip eye cos grass gets stuck on leader knot there. Pull hard retrieve as fast as you can use reel with fast retrieve. That rock just eats gear as there are other ones where he was casting and line lays over the top and snags. Short cast there’s shingle at the bottom of rock. And it is the most slippery rock I’ve ever fished from it’s horrible 👍👍
