Come along with me today on a beautiful journey down a section of the St Croix river here in NW Wisconsin as I fly fish for smallmouth bass in very low water. This is some of the most technical fishing and casting you will ever encounter and the scenery is nothing short of stunning. Hello Jeff! First of all, great video. I'm kind of intrigued with fly fishing for bass, bigmouth and smallmouth, tough I think smallmouth are much difficult that bigmouth, it's just an appreciation... like very much the kayak journey on the river. Keep the good videos.

Thanks for the information on low water methods. There's a lot of people who will not try to fish low water. I have a one man pontoon, works great as you said, can go places with out a lot of struggle. Thanks Jeff God bless.

I would love to see you go for these guys with a lighter setup. I have a Sage 5wt I like to use with 5 or 6lb tapered leader. I lose alot of Flys but when get one ........exciting to bring in. I caught a 18 inch brown in low water the other day, what a fight that was. A personal best for me. Love your videos. Like this it's very informative. Thanks

I’d love to use a smaller rod/reel as well but I’m 8 years removed from shoulder reconstruction and in fact….might have another fix upcoming and thus….the 7 wt is easy to cast long distances!

Jeff do you add Weight to all your streamers

John, No, not at all...in fact in low water situations I find that any weight tends to cause problems as the fly will hang up on rocks, etc....and not look natural. It really just depends on the water levels and how deep I need to get the fly down. If I need to get the fly lower in the water column then I will add weight as I still want to be able to use my sink tip 1 fly line....I also then make an adjustment to where I cast the fly....more upstream will allow for more time for the fly to sink in the column....Jeff
