Stock ride height was to tall for my wife so the Switchback had to be dropped with progressive shocks. summitracing.com/search/part-type/powersports-shocks?fr=part-type&SortBy=BestKeywordMatch&SortOrder=Ascending&keyword=pgr-412-4037b
I didn't even know what a Switchback was until I test rode mine! Now I love it, faster than my old Softail and lighter than my old Road King and handles way way better than both. Probably the most versatile big twin Harley ever made and comfy for me at 6'. Loving your videos - keep em coming.
I sound like a dork.. I was so damn excited to be able to finally touch properly that I didn't know how to act 😆 Also the "did you see that? I didn't have to lift my feet"... At the end of the driveway I always just lifted my feet and let it roll and hoped it had enough momentum lol If it stopped at the door in the drive, I had to ride the bike back up and try again because I couldn't reach to push it into the road. And never before was I able to back the bike up all the way into the road 👍🏻
Bonjour, Je suis Français et je n'ai pas réussi à comprendre. Quelle dimension pour les nouveaux amortisseurs ? Merci Superbe moto - Quel est le modèle des échappements également ? Pierre
It's a reckless faring. I am filming a new video walking around her bike which should be posted in a week. In that video I'll go over everything we have done to her switchback.
Awesome video, needing lowering shocks myself. Cant seem to find any when i search for the Switchback model. . Did you run into the same issue and just grab some for a "Dyna"?
Actually I couldn't find any for the switchback model either while searching for them, I just started looking for some for a dyna then found in the description that they fit the fld models.
Just throwing it out there but these progressive 412 lowering shocks that I put on my wife's bike are for sale..I put a custom air ride onto her switchback so we are not using these if you are interested.
Did the shocks make a difference in the ride quality? I put Burly Slammer shocks on a '06 Dyna and it rode so badly I went back to the taller shocks. (I'm 5'3") What brans is the fairing?
Fairing is a reckless fairing. As for the shocks, they give did up some of the ride quality, but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Now, at this moment, we no longer have those progressive 412 shocks on her switchback. I put a very inexpensive air ride on her bike. I am actually in the process of making an updated video on how and why. If you want to check back, the video will live in about a week, depending on my work schedule.
That's bad ass!! How did it do with bags installed? Do they hit the exhaust now that the bike is lower? Do you think they would if it still had stock exhaust?
I am so sorry. I am just now seeing this comment. The bags fit perfectly with no issues, the rear tire Articulates on the swing arm so the bags and exhaust stay the same, they don't move. They get lower to ground but stay at the same point on the bike..but no she hasn't dragged anything.
@@bigshow65 man I have a wild ass dyna. 23” rim airride basically a dirty bird style dyna. But I want bags on it for touring. Love the bike and how it handles. Can’t seem to find anything worth a shit for bag brackets tho. Appreciate the reply. Stay well!
Lowering the bike really helped my wife with reaching the and being able to push the bike backwards but she can't really reach the highway pegs. Lol short people problems, but she says the ride is comfortable.
Their are options to help her, the thing to remember is that the switchback is on the dyna platform. I added air ride for my with and it came off a touring bike.
Its vance and Hines big radius 2 into 2 exhaust. She loves it, loves it so much that I had to custom fit it to her bike since vance and Hines don't make that exhaust for the switchbacks, but I made it fit for her.
@@bigshow65 Did you put spacers for the floorboards so they cleared the head pipe? I also have a Switchback and am finding it harder and harder to find exhaust for it
Yes, I machined two one inch spacers to move her floor board out of the way but still had to relive her head pipe heat shield. I made a walk around video about her bike I just haven't had time to get it posted, where I show the spacers.
@@bigshow65 Thanks for the quick reply. Do you remember which bike the exhaust was originally for? Just any Dyna from 2012 and up or another model all together?
I will tell you this much my wife has put in almost 2000 miles on that bike with those progressive 412 shocks and we are looking at doing an air ride for her so that she can get the full travel of a stock ride height suspension but be able to lower the bike when she needs to Maneuver her bike around.
True, but after a season with these shocks on we put a home made air ride system on it and now she can reach and is a lot more comfortable. I'll be posting a video on what we did for the air ride very soon.
@@bigshow65 no problem ive got burly 10.5 shocks on mine and with that seat i sit flat footed and knee bent. im 5'7". i also have a lowrider 2 up seat that is about the same. also ive found the lowrider seats are the most comfortable stock seats
