Hi Pete, great result on the hot water set up. I wish I had as clear an idea of what is where and how it works on my boat. One thing I thought worth mentioning. My wife picked up on it and it’s saved us having to fill up on water so often. We keep a jug in the bathroom and kitchen to run all the water from the hot tap into before it reaches temperature, this then becomes our kettle water supply. Hope this is of use. Regards Rick
It's just me advantage of building the boat... We know where everything is and how everything works. I like the top for the jug! We will be using that idea! Thankyou! 😁
Hi Pete nice to see the boat with hot water now ,you did surprise me using fairy liquid you was using it the sink not good for the fish if you don’t mind me saying,I bet you are so happy to be able to have a shower at last on the boat ,great blog most enjoyable till next time take care keep safe,John 🇬🇧😂👏💧💧
You are a new home 🏡. It nice and you look have. The hot tank look for both you. From KITCHENER ONTARIO CANADA. It at now us 63 and overcast ☁️. Bye for now.
Great videos , can even teach the stupid ha ha .bit of advice , on power leads that go to things you need to have the insulation shroud on the power source cable . Just if it’s disconnected with bare connections and someone accidentally throws the switch , it saves things getting fried . Accidents do happen lol
Aren't the creature comforts amazing! Who knew HOT water would be so essential? Dawn is going to love it, and evidently so do you. All the best from Missouri.
Very nice Peter, glad you can cross another milestone project off your list for the boat, what a relief. That water pump change out went surprisingly smooth; no leaks, compatibility, or fitment problems - Don't get used to that! On the old pump, I suspect the pressure could have been changed by using a different pressure switch, assuming that switch is accessible. Being in the US, I am not familiar with the water heating system that is generally used on a narrowboat, looks like have a Demand Type that turns on the heat when it senses water flowing. It's good you got the gas fired type, so you don't have to be tied to shore power. I suspect it will empty the propane tanks quickly; it takes a lot of heat to heat up bath water so, any kind of water savings measure you can implement should help save some money. Glad to see things are winding down on the boat refit project, now you two can (hopefully) spend more time doing something pleasurable - Cheers!
Whenever the working part of a big project is completed it is a great feeling - a weight off the shoulders. You looked a bit more upbeat today as a result. Now it looks like remaining projects are pretty much all within your comfort zone, so a good place to be. I was surprised that you have the water pump just under the bed though. It will mean if one of you ever wants a lie-in the other one neds to avoid using water to prevent the pump making noise.
@@WingingItBoatingonaBudget I am a migraine sufferer (nowadays quite rare, but it still happens - last time was about 3 years ago, it was about monthly as a teenager). That means a dark and quiet room for 24 hours or so. Noise and/or light causes a lot of pain and can even cause me to throw up, so on such occasions the house is silent and I stay in a darkened bedroom till it goes off. I might be stood up part of the time when I have a migraine (typically with forehead resting on the wall) but not up and about. So it isn't always about a lie in.
You might think of adding a small accumulator to that water system. I have a motorhome and found the pump noisy under the bed, added said accumulator and amazed at the difference.
Well done as usual think you could live on it in a bit of comfort sure Dawn will be pleased with the hot water you can now do the washing in comfort so Dawn can sit down after doing the cooking keep up the great wor
Looks like it will be all plain sailing from here on Peter. You'll be floating all the way now with what next you've to do. I'm guessing the central heating will be the next instalment on the cards to sort out before continuing building cupboards and shelfs. Keep up the good work. 👍Soon be all done. Dawn will be as happy as a bunny once its finished.
We are getting there, the heating is provided by the log burner, I am just tweaking the hearth that i made a couple of weeks ago... Dawn is already happy, but will be even happier once the ceiling is up!
@@WingingItBoatingonaBudget Best you get some nice warm blankets for winter then. & maybe an electric blanket too. 😉 Maybe Dawn could knit you some nice woolly bed socks each. Plus a bed hat. Ha ha. That ceiling should be a doddle with all the practice you've had. Be up in no time. Be safe and keep warm guys. 😍
\0/ Yea!!! You don't have to rinse the dishes off after washing them? I have an electric, tankless water heater, too. LOVE the extra room I gained by installing it. It was an easy installation.
@@WingingItBoatingonaBudget 🤗I would love that. I have not done exactly that but have made 'molds' to do stuff, (that's a hint😉) I guess you wouldn't just press a whole tube down the sink yeah? 🙃 After watching you abracadabra your magic I'm sure you will prevail😂😂😂. Cheer pal!
@@WingingItBoatingonaBudget thank you for replying, your both doing a great Job, keep it up , I'm looking forward to watching your videos, great job, regards Bill
@@NarrowboatWill especially plenty when I'm 5'7" 🤣🤣🤣 The green one was for sale a few months ago - I tried to buy it... Someone else got there first though. 🤷
@@WingingItBoatingonaBudget oh right you saw that. Smart looking boats. I put it in my vlog and mentioned you..can't remember which one. Around Skipton area..Barnoldswick I think...
@@NarrowboatWill ah right, not seen that one of yours... Think that's the area the guy is who bought it. I think his plan was to sell it on though (for more than I'd pay for it!).
Hiya friends 👋 is there any way you can get some sort of holder to place the water pump in so not to create water damage on the board its under? I'm sure you may have already got this comment, i don't know... 🙃 Have a good night 👋
We are looking at diferent options... To be honest the idea of the shower tray / pump came along and I built it... But not really fully worked out all the little details! Definitely a "work in progress" 🤣🤣😁
Never measured the temperature. But our boat has a fibreglass roof and the flue passes through wooden ceiling boards and there’s never been a problem with anything getting too hot.
Hi, Looking at getting this for our boat and was looking for a little guidance! We have a 23ft cabin cruiser with limited space for the flue. Can the flue be horizontal out the side of the boat? Does it require constant 230v power to run? Our pump is a whale freshwater pump at 45psi pumping from a 120l flexible water tank, would this be sufficient supply & power? Thanks!
The moorings we are on are a community led mooring, so there's no 'owner' and nor are they run by CRT. We have a committee thats made up from the boat owners here and they ensure the rules are followed. We have regular work parties to make sure things are done around the site - as CRT don't cut our grass or empty our bins etc. We all 'muck in' to do those things.
