I was just offered a position at a hospital system here in NJ to work 3x12 ICU for $38/hr. I have critical care experience working ER as a PCA but none as an LPN. The pay is non negotiable but yet they sound so excited and "can't wait for me to join the team". I asked about orientation and was told that she would try to get me 1 week, what the hell. They are ready to lay me out like a lamb to slaughter for $38/hr. Needless to say I have another job lined up with same pay but less responsibilities. Thank you for doing this video, you have a new subscriber.

I've been watching you since last year, I love your channel. I'm a PCT in the hospital and my company did a cohort with our local community college so in class we did CNA and clinicals PCT, we were the first class for this and we were the only ones they offered to give us our CNA certifications. They locked us into a contract. Next august I'll be starting LPN school. Right now I'm studying for my ATI TEAS test to pass this time, I failed last time by one point. I love you channel and your energy Nurse Shay Shay 💜

I do believe LPNs will be back in hospitals sooner rather than later. I was talking about how Im doing my LPN first because it just fits my life better right now to some nurses i work with in ICU and they said they wish they had LPNs there and could keep me there. I think there may be a push for it to happen and im seeing hospitals in my state bring them back.

I saw them rates and shut my laptop so fast lol. I emailed my connect and he said I quote “Florida does not pay well in general. They feel they can sell the appeal of Florida (beaches) and cut the cost. They rarely have a market for Lpns etc” So, they set those rates due to tourism and don’t feel the need to pay anybody crisis rates. Also, went in on how so many people want to be there but the most money will actually be in the Midwest and California (just living expenses is a major issue).

I regret letting my CNA certification expire… I did it for school now I wish I actually looked into it and used it cause the way these rates are set up… I swearrrr I don’t understand 1 month of school vs 1 year??? I need answers yet they keep saying continue your education… CNA’s are getting better rates and barely had to get an education (no offense but I’m just saying in comparison). It’s really unbelievable!

@@ShannonSoSweeet tbh it’s temporary the nursing field in general is being lowballed. Stay in school and finish. No matter what as a nurse, you’re the prize, so the main goal will be to negotiate. The money is endless. They really only pay like that because they know somebody will take it. That’s why recruiters are becoming more frustrated with filling in those needs because we are all seeing the light that we ALL deserve more. ❤️

Shay, in your opinion can I live comfortably in GA on a LPN salary? I have no kids & a husband. I’m asking because I’m moving there next year from CA. Honest opinion? I trust your insight!!!

Is there any LPN travel jobs for new grads
@ShayyyShayyy888
@ShayyyShayyy888 3 года назад
When I was in California I met a lot of new graduates that took vaccine travel jobs locally. Anything else I recommend 1 yr experience first. Protect your license ❤️❤️

I already told my husband be prepared after I graduate RN school cause my pay is GOING DOWN!!!!! Lol It’s crazy! But a DON once told me RNs get paid more based off education not experience. Same as RN vs. NP pay or NP pay vs. PA pay. (Not saying I agree)

Is there a specific amount of time you have to be a CNA or LPN in order to sign up with agencies? I heard some might take newbies but can't find any info on it.
@ShayyyShayyy888
@ShayyyShayyy888 3 года назад
They really want 1 yr sometimes 2 depending on the specialty. I was finding loopholes but I was highly confident in my skills after working on a LTACH. So, I did it in like 8 months but again I was confident 💡

@@krystlemiles3213 Yup lol I would've done it in 6 months if I would've known earlier or at least tried to. I also met new grad nurses in Cali that got in on the vaccine jobs they was making money too 💕

The hospital I worked at in FL had LPNs working alongside RNs mind u I'm a tech n fulltime employee. The LPNs started at $18 and change, new RNs started at $24.50 an hr. However prn or float techs started at around $16+ an hr. Ntm they had the LPNs get signed off to be able to do their own pushes and give blood so the nurse just had to co sign like u would a narc. They r that short staffed here. Making them take 8 and 9 patients to 1 nurse on a med/surg floor where pretty much everyone is a total care n there maybe 1 cna for 24+ patients. Btw I made $12.15 for all that. Smh
