I am not compensated well enough with being a teacher at all. I am looking into quitting the teaching field. I don't want to continue to work with people's bad ass kids anymore. I am going into being a medical assistant and then after that I am applying to Nursing school. Because I want better for my life and I want more for myself. I have been a caregiver for years to my grandmother who passed away sept 2022. Yeah I want a job that i enjoy doing also have opportunities and I enjoy taking care of others. In the past when I was a CNA I was working as a home health aid until my client cancelled on me. There is nothing wrong with doing something and be compensated for it. Love the video @Shay Shay
It's now 2023 and I am glad to have found your video which was made pre-covid. I am not in the healthcare field nor a nurse but I bet many of these hospitals appreciate, value and acknowledge LPNs now especially with many RNs existing the field and or retiring during and post covid. I seen plenty of videos of RNs, BSNs and NPN saying that they hate their jobs, careers and are burn out, SMH. Many of these hospitals that once looked down or didn't acknowledge LPNs are now relying on them for patient care and other essential skills. As I continue my research it's wonderful to see how some RNs are advocating and supporting the path of LPNs.
They saw BLACK WOMEN making A LOT of money and they had to put that to a stop. In some places, like the Carolinas, the hospitals have their own " travel" nurses. Where you travel in that hospital system only, but you are still a "staff" nurse. They are giving them $85/hr but they aren't paying for anything except the hourly wage. So it behooves you to live locally so that you don't absorb that added cost of hotels/Airbnb costs.
Everybody that says that they don't do nursing for the money is a LIAR. Because every time I look up, they are on strike for more money. And for the ones that don't strike, they would never do nursing for only minimum wage. So I ignore those fake nurses who say it's not abt the money
I totally feel you and sorry you went through that. I got done exactly like you on a per diem assignment, exact same way. Never even got into the system for four hours and they told me to take patients plus insulin and meds were due now past due, and not one person helped me. Then when one patient was discharged, I immediately got another one. Pt came in so fast, I just knew it had to be someone else’s admit. That’s how they do you. Now I can write a book on how I got dogged as a travel nurse on two different assignments. Whole another story.
I’m so glad I came across your video. I’ve been a nurse the last 3 years and I just quit my job. I felt like I’ve lost myself, and I’ve hit an all time mental low that nobody teaches you about in school. I’m hoping to use a few months to find myself again. Thank you for your beautiful soul ❤️
Pennsylvania sucks in worker rights, even other areas 😢 but unfortunately I am stuck in here until I can leave. Applying for my LPN, can’t wait to start. Looking to set me up also and leave. Working being women and a poc is not getting easy.
Here the cheapest program is 12k if you need no prerequisites and make to the wait list 😢. I am not on a position to wait, I will have to go through the expensive route 28K. But I still believe it is worth it
Naahh...I never expected you said something like that. What any nurse see is when a competent nurse ,then that nurse is part of a great team, but, in generalif the nurse is not competent that nurse should realize honestly that doesn't matter the skin color. Competent nurse doesn't have issues with skin color.

Because this is scary for someone like me who is trying to figure out how to stretch 300 dollars and it dawned on me that the traveling I’ve been wanting to do can be paid via agencies. But like I said………There’s $308.53 between me and homeless shelter life. So I figure - Travel Nurse with housing stipends….corrections. But I invest my $ and am left hanging basically they would be sending me to skid row. So….thanks for sharing
