Three questions: How well can this image a license plate on the FRONT (headlight glare) at night? The approach through my license plate capture zone is on a rural road where 60 MPH is not uncommon (and is most likely the vehicle I want to know about), so is this going to capture The Second Coming of Christ flying by in his LED light-bar equipped RAM 4x4? That's a tall order, I know. Third, I've got an ideal camera location, about 15° off centerline and 75' from the action. Problem is, that spot is 250' from the house. I can run Cat 5 there, and even 120VAC if need be, but how is that distance going to affect image quality?
Thank you for your interest. The front license plate capture works very well at night a long as the camera is installed properly. You can see a demo here. videos.cctvcamerapros.com/v/lpr-camera-night-recognition.html The LPR camera needs to be mounted no greater than 90 feet away from the license plate capture zone. 250 feet will be too far unfortunately.
Thank you for your interest. This is our top pick for an ALPR camera system with overview AI camera. www.cctvcamerapros.com/automatic-license-plate-recognition-p/vt-lpr-s8.htm
I'm an interested homeowner. I'd have to mount mine somewhat higher, in an effort for the camera's view to not be blocked by cars parked on the street in front of the house. I understand this would increase the horizontal angle of the camera, which is bad for the performance of the system. Hoping to see some more experimenting to perhaps prove it would still be a working system for me!
Thank you for the feedback and interest! How high would the LPR camera be mounted on your house? How far from the street is your house set back? Is the road exactly perpendicular mounting position on the house or does the road have any curse, like my house does in the video? You can also email me at mike@cctvcamerapros.net if you like.
For license plate capture (human readable license plates), yes. All Viewtron IP cameras are ONVIF compliant so they will work with Synology Security Center. However, in order to take advantage of the AI software for automatic license plate recognition and / or if you want to use our Viewtron AI cameras for human detection or car detection, you must use a Viewtron NVR. The AI software is only integrated with Viewtron NVRs. www.cctvcamerapros.com/AI-security-cameras-s/1512.htm
For the Viewtron automatic license plate recognition software (ALPR) to identify the letters and numbers of the plates, the max license plate distance in 90 feet. However, for manual license plate capture, which is where a human can read the license plate when reviewing recorded video footage on the Viewtron NVR, we have successfully tested license plate capture up to 120 feet. Please check out our latest video of the night time license plate recognition testing with the Viewtron LPR-IP4 camera. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--qJsvBW05RI.html
