After cutting the locator tab off the pickup tube, swing the hold down tab 180° to make reassembly easier than taking it apart!
This is a Melling M295HV pump with the "as shipped" pressure relief spring left in it.

Have you had any issuses with air sucking in or oil pressure after modification? they sell a kit now that will hold the pick up tube and bolt in the other side.

Many people ask this question ... but think for a moment how the AC system uses one bolt to attach the end of a highly pressurized and charged line to another ... the power of the hold is not in the bolts. The seal - for either pressure or vacuum --- is in the o-ring --- and its integrity. Good o-rings mean good sealing. If the o-ring is intact --- still round within engineered limits --- has a clean surface on which to create the seal --- one bolt, two bolts, twenty bolts do not increase the sealing integrity. I own one of those horseshoe "assist" devices and it looks good ... but it isn't necessary unless one is working on something for NASA. NASA requires a lot of engineers with ideas - to implement those ideas - for the most complicated space equipment in the world. Musk showed NASA how to build rockets with a more minimalist view to simplify his ships --- they even land to be reused which is something NASA never envisioned. Again, I state that those horseshoe clamps with the extra bolt are good --- but since nothing in that oil circuit is in motion --- it's somewhat overkill. "Needing" that clamp is moot --- not bad --- it's just if you're going to have better, full access --- go ahead and install it --- it can't hurt. //

@@SurferJoe46 Your right about the oring making a tight seal because they say to push up the pick up tube with the oring until it seats in and not with the bolt pressure. I wanted to use the kit as the only bolt to hold up the pick up tube because i'm going to have a mechanic replace the pick up tube and oring and I'm going to eventually change the oil pump, timing chain kit, water pump myself and save some money but that bolt would give me a hard time so i'll have the mechanic put the pick up tube kit so i can get it easiler for when i do it.Thank you for your assistance

@@gjoniny That's a good idea. It'll still be a Saturday Night Project because if you don't drop the front suspension to remove the pan, your access to that bolt, is still no walk in the park. Be sure to use the oil pump centering trick I used too. It's not an option.

Lemme see if I can find that small video - but I cut it off with my Dremel tool where the alignment tab was so it would turn 180°.
