I've run 12's consistently with a VZ SS with no engine mods. OTR , Exhaust , diff gears and using hp tuners to up the shift pressures & shift rpm , remove torque managment and adjust the mixtures. With full leather interior a full tank of fuel and a spare tyre. Your vn with the right tune should be in the 11's. Love the channel , great work ❤
I purchased my LS1 VN Calais new in 90 as a daily For at least 8 years till it sat in the garage for 22 years with 60 on the clock Last year i took it out had the motor pulled apart and rebuilt whilst adding a supercharger I’m going to see if I can get at least 11 down the quarter This sleeper bad ass factory looking vn will definitely go well
Defs diff gears n kitted auto will help big time, empty your boot too that'll save ya some weight. Ultimately I'd ditch the 4l60e and drop a built th700 with full manual shift kit if u wanna stay 4 speed, if not th400 (4l60 won't live long lol). A cam n head package would go alright too 👌
Got to be happy with that man . Respectful time for a stock set up . Done well keep up the good vids.. i put mine down the strip but never ran it for time slips mine is carby also but they get up and go .
Sort out gearbox shifting issue after the diff gear change, a better tyre and race it. Maybe dyno, figure out where you make power check the tune see if you have any sneaky horse powers hidden anywhere but mainly race it, getting used to it will drop your times, what rpm it likes to be shifted at, no doubt you’ll break something or figure out what needs improving to go faster
B n M quickshift- twin 2.5 or 3 inch system and headers-with comp cam and OTR VCM on 98 octane the vn should run mid 11s but that's some serious $ too and worth it before going turbo/supercharged
Check your panhard rod bushes/bolts and rear wheel bearings. I’m all for for the 3.9 gears (or 3.7’s) and some good sticky tyres then f$&king send it....
Done very well on those tyre n diff ratio n box . Love to see with 4:11 n full manual auto is ur taking auto out I’d put small stall 3.5k high flow intake . N a cool day 😂😂 . was inpressed it held gears manual changing often they will still change. Got to be very happy with times
Congrats on a successful day out. Nothing beats driving to the track, laying good times and driving home again!! Sorry if I missed it, but what was your best 60 foot time?
Nice bloke. I wasn’t really serious about 11.9 but mph is good. I ran an 11.9 years ago with 112 mph and an 11.9 with 115 mph on a 205/14. 3.7/3.9 4000 converter. Radials. Should be good thing
@@MindieJ For sure man, I mean if you can do all 3 at once then cool. But if it was me and I could only do one first i'd def get a tough box built so I knew I could beat up on it and it won't slip or give me any grief. Prob a turbo 400 so I know it's overkill tough - kind of future proofed, say you decide one day to put a turbo on then at least you won't have to worry about the box handling it :)
Sounds like you’ve got gears n tyres sorted m8 maybe some comp engineering 3 ways for back n 90/10s for the front or just looser springs n take front sway bar off don’t know if you would bother investing in a shift kit for the 4l60e as they not that strong but will be good on the highway with your 3.9s so depends but will rev high driving to track n back n forget just one tank of fuel being enough
Love your work mate, a little tip while your shifting manually with the stock shifter, is to hold the handbrake as if your about to pull it up. Use your thumb to click the t bar forward through the gears. Let me know what you reckon
No worry’s dude 🤙🏻 hope it helps.. spent a few hours trying to work out nosies that they make and it’s always something simple.. the noise usually only happens while the suspension is loaded so maybe put her on a gutter get under it and get a mate to shake it side to side till you can see what’s hitting 😎 also the tail-shaft hits the floor under load if you go to low at the back 😅
Hopefully easy fix also I got a vnss upper control arms normally go aswell the bushes.I replaced mine with brand new after market nolathane square tube arm a lot stronger then stock upper arm
I was told by a gearbox mechanic to use the 123 because it activates something in the box to strengthen it somehow..if u just leave it in D u may do some damage 👍
id see how traction is after gears and drag tyres, see if you need to change suspension in that regard? whats it running atm, just OE commo stuff? also, see if there is any breathing mods you can do that wont ruin it on the road, is there a cheap LS intake that helps breath better, before having to touch heads/cam
LMFAO the ending hahahahaha. Next up, some better tyres is a must for you. Can't wait to head there later this year and try run my boat down that strip. hahaha
@@MindieJ Nah, never. Would be a first time thing for me to send her down the strip. Hoping to do a sesh at least once this year. Looks chill and fun at Heathcote.
@@MindieJ look forward to it, I think I already know the answer from a comment you made a few hours ago.... or maybe not.... All I know is I've become attached to this car for reasons unknown, and I should definitely get off youtube for a while Also, I think you might be my eastern states twin, your progression of car ownership over the last 10 years is scary similar..... starting with the mighty 31 lol
@@MindieJ oh I certainly thought so... I mean, with styling that's half Volvo, half 1st-gen Magna... Powered by the same heart as found in not only VL's, but also Nissan forklifts.... Sprinkle on an lsd that works for half a track day maybe, a handbrake that works great as long as you park on flat ground, and voila! The perfect machine! Lol I actually had two, the second one was a 2 door coupe, that actually was a good car
cool ride.......what does a vn/ls1 weigh?......my hq is 1350kg..ls1/4l60e/9"....i would get that g/box shift kitted/corvette servo.....and fine tune computer settings......do not go crazy on line pressure...this is the biggest killer of auto's.......my g/box has done 10 years of street duties....car rans 12.1@116mph with 3.7's...picked up 2.5 tenths to the 1/8 mile changing to 4.3's.......should be high 11's on the quarter now......cheers
Tyres and gears are a great start. Maybe swap the valve body for a shift kitted or manual shift one, and see if you can set up a 2 step for the footbrake launch. Simple things that could make the difference when it comes to consistency 👌🏻
@@MindieJ bumping up the line pressure to try and firm your shift up isn't an ideal way to get the job done. Is it an improvement on oem configuration? Absolutely! But its a bandaid solution my dude.
@@aaronjonthedon yeh diff was dropped out of it the next day haha, nah I haven’t weighed it man I’m assuming the LS isn’t too heavy being all alloy so should be close to stock weight
diff, bushes/rubbers front & rear & maybe built box with a stall? & maybe built driveshaft by “gr drivelines” i believe it is & you will be sweet! & vz radiator swap if you can in the vn
If your only gonna put the 3.9s for now next your gonna need some slicks to get off the line harder without wheel spinning with the 3.9s other then that stall and cam definitely
