BTW: It is NOT a Coupe. But I had a similar one back in 1983-1987 in Finland. Even the color was the same, and I still remember even the color code: Mazda AT Skyish Blue.
dont think i have ever seen a painted B pillar trim there with the srs sticker on it, just black plastic. if it was painted you would see where the door seals would wear through it and look awful. they come up great polished, like glass.
It survived this long, so my vote is to respect its heritage and leave it alone. You've got the most unique ride anyway as you have a car that performs and drives like it did when new. One that lets you experience every day what it was like for us back in the day to buy a car like this and just enjoy it. As a young bloke who enjoys the history of these cars, you've been given a chance to own and drive an original spec HSV. That's the needle in the haystack. Enjoy it mate for what it is and with your interest in the cars history, I'll bet your love for the car in its original condition will only grow and you'll be glad you didn't mess with it. If you want to mod something, go and buy some clapped out Commodore and go for it. This car is special.

Have been semi interested in a Sony ZV-1 myself, so good to see a straight up comparison! Picture looks great, as we all know the action cams dont fare spectacularly in low light, and like you said, no zoom etc. In saying that, for action cams I switched to the DJI Osmo action 4, and dude it SMOKES the GoPro in just about every single way. Something to keep in mind when it comes time to retire the old work horse.
Forgot to mention to you the tail lights look like aftermarket because the reflectors are faded I would be looking for good original ones. I have 2 vr’s and the original ones don’t fade
The audio clarity is nice. Sounded really compressed from the go pro. Those new front lights are a great score. I can't stand plastic headlights, pretty much everything in the states from the 80/90s on has them.
