a few people wanted to know what ive spent on this car and what i paid for it in the first place, well in this video I TELL ALL!! also pull the diff out again hmmmmmmmmm
The thing I love most about your videos is how your attention to detail and quality makes all the difference...not throwing bulk cash at something but putting the effort into the small details like new moulds and tail lights ect....Keep up the good work mate.
Hey man. I gotta say, I really appreciate your honesty on this topic. Pretty much no other automotive RU-vidr ever talks about this stuff, and I think it's super important for anyone who's thinking of getting into a project car to consider. Thanks for the brilliant content too bro! Peace!
Reason is that costs vary dramatically from state to state ,company to company and they don't want to get hate mail from people going oh u told me it was this much but it was actually this much. Yeah most us understand that and it is frustrating cause u want to understand the round about costs but unfortunately there are a lot of fk wits out there in the car community 🤔
Hi There, Love the passion with the VN and enjoy how precise you are with VN authenticity in regards to steering, seats, badges etc., LS swap is so personalised obviously your after power and performance. I think and its just my opinion your VN eventually will be sold to a person like yourself I hope you get anywhere between $15-$25k. Like yourself I like a VN. I went looking late 2018 and found a factory ‘S’ model V6 5 Spd with 95,000ks on the clock. A neglected one owner from Adelaide. The owners Father was a manager at Elizabeth GMH. I paid $5,000. The car was running and registered however I doubt it had been washed or cleaned for 10 years. Off the road since 2011. Bought off pictures and an honest old bloke like myself. I would of spent at least $9.000 on front and rear suspension, drive shaft, paint, rust repair, roof lining and that dreaded loose cloth on the rear seats. Only performance mod was a pod filter, extractors and a sports exhaust. Raised the power a few percent changed the note from a house vacuum cleaner to a hotted up street cleaner. I got the VN valued and insured by Shannons two years ago they valued at the time at $20k making the comment too bad your missing two cylinders it would of been$25k. Whether if I ever want to sell the car will I get $15k? What do you think? I like the fact almost all VNs are now drag or burn out cars and every time I read a for sale ad I like to think one less VN competing with my ‘classic?’ So enjoying your journey with your VN totally different to mine however it is great to see a young bloke chasing his dreams and doing it with style. Look forward to further updates. Last thing as new as your steering wheel is I got rid of my manky one because of the mankiness and replaced it with a MOMO too many people thought it looked like I was driving a bus? More VN is never enough.
I was close when I said 14 yesterday! With the cars of this era starting to really increase in value, I'm sure you'll eventually move it on and make a buck! Plus you're are pretty switched on to knowing what something is worth, good luck and as commented last week or the week before, I wish I didn't sell mine! Watching your videos on the VN, brings back good memories, cheers Chris...
@@MindieJ yeah there's some nice ones around, seen that pheonex red one with the colour coded momo stars? That thing looks brand new still 😳👌 it's a credit to the owner. Mine will never be that mint without a full rebuild lol body n interior I'll get mint one day but underneaths still gonna have it dings n dents from 32 yrs of being jacked up in the wrong spots 😂 But it doesn't bother me being it's built to be driven, don't want it like a show car cause I'd be afraid to drive it.
Yeah that vid needed a comment mate, loved getting to see the cost to do things so cleanly, wish I had your patience and attention to detail. Recently picked up a pretty rough VX Clubby for $21k so looking to follow in your footsteps and really clean it up nicely and enjoy her. Well done, you won't lose money with her she's very nice
Coulsons are from a series 1 VX Clubsport. VT GTS seats have GTS on the fabrics in a diagonal pattern. The leather GTS seats are two tone with one print of GTS embroided into the leather in the top section of the seat.
Mate you have done very well with the over all costs of your Vn! I bought my VN as for 23k add the cost of getting the car on the road wheels lowered air con reconditioning sterio etc I've spent around 27k. Well worth it if you ask.me. It's in A1 condition.
Well done man, what a bargain to begin with..$16k doesn't go far when talking clean Commodore 90s V8s let alone ones that make 200+rwkw and run 12s no problem And to have $2k worth of HSV trim is icing on the cake I mean try and LS swap a VN even if you already own a VN money gets chwewed up bloody quick. Def won't LS swap if starting from scratch with buying a clean V8 for 16k To then sell all the bits and get paid from the videos dropping it down even further wow man, that's so awesome, I spent what that entire car owes you simply building my 355 Holden motor Ps, if I may ask in regard to the money from these VN videos, is that RU-vid earnings ? That's also amazing Love the car man man, tidy as, sleeper and built on a bargain.. no wonder you would swap for my GROUP A manifold lol
Bro, good for you! When you sell it, you sell it for what it is, now how much you made/loss from it. Keep doing you, and sharing the vids, love it man!
Well done Mate & a lesson for everyone trying to do the same deep pockets or not. When & if you sell it anyone that's thinking of biting you fuuuuuck them. 😎✌🤙🤘👍😁
Lol at the end of video. As if you just left your white board, pen and bonnet up.... You garage is so clean and tidy. I bet you ran back outside to put everything away neatly ahahah
Done well.. $14k is quite reasonable.. I just paid $25k for a 2008 BFII Black XR8 with only 54,000km on the clock in show room condition.. I've probably spent another $2000 on it, doing full service from engine to diff, a cat back exhaust, silver boss 260 decals for the bonnet, a tinted black rear window spoiler/visor, black stone guard and windshields on front driver and passenger side... It looks like it just rolled off the showroom floor, still has factory stickers on the driveshaft etc.. Quick question if you are willing to answer, but out of interest how much did you sell your XE 351 for?? I am thinking of purchasing one as a weekend toy. Cheers mate
Time is your most valuable commodity. Sure you’ve done well getting some money back which is awesome, but when you factor time you’re probably breaking even. Value is rising and you don’t use crap parts. If people wanna low ball ya when it’s time to sell, they won’t be getting the keys haha. Great work
@@MindieJ Chev badge on a Holden. The ultimate expression of boganity (unless it is in the USA, Brazil, Thailand, Singapore etc and was delivered that way).
Good video Chris, thanks for also explaining what you've made off the video's. Diff I think might be pinion depth by the noise it makes. You need to shim the pinion to get good pinion to crown engagement for the r31 diff gears into falcon or commo. R31 use a Bw75 housing falcon and commo bw78 series.
very true but it does depend on the condition on the gears itself. diff gears come in sets they are ground to suit each other perfectly. Any wear to the faces of the gear will cause winding( to much lash between teeth ) .
Hey bud was wondering what tires are you running on your ls1 ? I have a vt wagon with stock interceptos and running a 205 65 15 ecopia but thinking of changing them What you think is a good looking 2056515 tire Toyo ..dunlop..bridgestone Any ideas would be much appreciated from anyone I have
After putting your hands in that diff oil, how many days later could you still smell it on your hands? I always wear gloves when around diff oil. Can't seem to get rid of that smell.
@@mrbrad4637 A good week and it should be gone. LOL I had rags in my bin with that oil on them, the rags are long gone but man does the bin stink of that oil, can't believe how strong it is.
Thanks for going through the explanation of how much this has cost you. I have a question if you are willing to answer me. I have a VQ Statesman and I live in the Northern Territory. Finding parts up here is non existent. Could you please share with me where you got the tail lights etc. Obviously with you living in Victoria you have a plethora of options for finding these items. Cheers Also that is a great looking car you have.
Its a decent margin you've made, will be interesting to see how it goes post tax time when you are able to claim the purchases back as an expense of business.
Don't believe it does, would be why it's on club rego, which u can do no worries in Vic without an engineers cert ,just has to pass a rwc with whatever club your in which they're pretty lenient on lol Engineering is about 4-5k give or take ,u need engineers cert 800/1000ish, brake test 1300/1500 or something, emissions test about 1350-1500. It's bullshit expensive in Vic, I'm facing all this with my turbo v6 vn for full rego but to start with I might just h plate it till I can afford the engineering costs 🤔 Last car I engineered was in nsw about 15 yrs ago and it only cost me 550 lol Nsw u gotta do brake test and emissions testing now as well but is much cheaper than Vic.
@@5lcalais1 thats good you do not have to get engineered for club rego because i talked to one about my vh I was thinking on doing a lsa surcharge in it and he said no way can't do it but a ls3 maybe so you know what after seeing your comment that I do not need it iam doing it eny way lsa 😁🤌👍
@@td42dirtygq I'd still check before hand just in case as clubs all have different rules, some might not be worried about certain mods and others might be. Also go on VicRoads website and go through all the rules n regs in regards to h plates, there's also m plates which technically we're surpose have for heavily modified classics but I believe u still need an engineers cert for that so just look through it all and make sure 100% on everything before u even turn a spanner 👍
Hey mate were did u get the seat refoamed my ve hsv driver seat is looking deflated and all shops keep saying nah we cant refoam we have to change it all and the prices are ridiculous...im in Vic too btw
@@MindieJ don’t know bout shits all over it but believe u because the Evos,Silvias and supras and skylines right now the prices have hit the roof people asking crazy money
Lol i drove a spooled diff around for 10 yrs straight with no issues ever , just new tyres every 6 months lol Only flogged control arm bushes out once. Lol
@@MindieJ look up spooled diff on Google, they brake traction when turning.......FACT....i wasn't sure if u understood that and didn't wanna see her get written off but Hay its all u buddy u do what u want..and the LOL just pissed me off so I've unsubscribed have a good one
