We did a direct comparison on the new BTR 2 (Redhot cam) vs the old BTR 2 cam that is so popular in the 5th gen camaros, G8s, SS's , Caprices, etc on the dyno to see real world results. We were VERY surprised by the results!
Thanks fellas for this awesome video. It was good to hear the the cam itself and info… Gonna LS SWAP my 67 chevelle from a 396 to a LQ4 and was thinking of going with that same came from BTR… it sounds amazing. Thanks again
This is the cam I went with for my build. GM crate LS3/Holley X max/Holley blk heart exhaust/headers/Tremec Magnum F/QP 9” in an 87 Iroc. I’m thinking of maybe having the heads ported before install. Great video thanks 🙏
Also I was leaning towards a stage 3 but worried about driveability. Can you say how different the stage 2 to the stage 3 is driveability wise? Low end torque, surging etc…
@@ericordemann5806 No, I actually ended up buying an LSA supercharger and having the Heads CNC ported, rings gapped, trunion upgrade, LSA pulley/pinned, upgraded the timing chain tensioner and stuck with the same cam since it’s the same as their “Red hot cam” and their PDS stage 2 torque cam. So it’s put me back some. Hopefully by the spring I’ll have it in the car.
Love to mod my 2017 Chevy SS Sedan LS3; 6 spd Manual...with a Cam, BTR Platinum springs, Trunion upgrade, ARH, etc. Was looking at BTR Stage II, to keep it fairly streetable (it's a semi daily). My aim is 485 to 500 N/A ?? I'm @ 30K miles now, so the bug has bitten me for sure. Question: With the EXH Durr around 240 @050" (or over 240 on the new version II)...is piston to valve clearance in danger...all else being stock ?
So is this the red hot cam or did they revise and replace the existing stage 2? I have seen many people in forums talking. About the stage 3 even and the specs they had then and the lift and duration were less then and they increased the lift and duration from what I see on the website. So have the stage 3s been revised as well? It’s what I’m planning on for my LS1.
Do you think the LS3 S2V2 is too small for a 418 with the right heads? Daily driver & autox, no formal drag, so i dont want lots of overlap. I'm thinking the smaller intake duration with a head that has high CoD could balance out.
Im a little confused, is this stage 2 v2 or Redhot cam? BTR has both but I’m not sure which one you’re actually using since you mentioned both in the video.
Does this car have a catch can on the driver side for the PCV system returning to the valley pan? I see open air breathers for the passenger side fresh air in
I have the BTR stage 2 cam, bought it around the beginning of 2020, how do I know if i have the version 1 or 2? My G8 dyno'd 430/400 with VCM intake and 2" long tubes. The converter blips seem to be about standard for these stock G8 torque converters around this hp, right?
@@nufnuffz28 Gotcha. When I spec'd the cam, I had asked around for opinions on the biggest cam I could run on a stock converter and the majority of responses was the BTR stage 2. Would that still be the case with the V2 or would you want a converter with that cam?
Thank you! Btr 2 v2 4dp converter Ls7 maf Pacesetter headers Solo exhaust , mid muffler, solo Js Eibach suspension, with large sway bars CTSV brakes front and rear Vararam intake Im sure im missing a lot
How much were the 823s/5364s milled? And were they cnc'd or hand ported? Also, are the headers 1.75in or 1.875in long tubes? Anywhoz.. An extra 30whp gain at 6500+ rpms with a shop's revised/updated version of their stage 2 cam... That is way more than I was expecting! I bet the G8's owner is happy with those results! I know I would be. I was expecting to see 10-15whp at the most.
What cam would you recommend for a c6 ls3 auto with a stock tq converter was looking into the btr stage 2 v2 is there anything else you might recommend?
@@Tax_Mny love Joe, but more important to talk to your Tuner/builder about the direction you want to go. Like I said, make sure the tune is good to not push and you should be OK. A so so tune will make you hate it. There are several cammed LSAs On this channel you can look at. Claytons has a BTR 2 PDS torque cam and he is on a Zl1 converter...
@@nufnuffz28 does that mean the new cam has no advance ? So it’s the same icl and lobe separation I’m going to be running a 233/248 629 615 116+4 car is getting a blower it’s the she gone cam by dms Now my real question I also have a 233/242 629 615 115lsa no advance straight grind I ordered this when I was going to stay n/a. Planned on shifting around 7400 I was told by the guys at tsp straight grind on 115lsa would love high rpm. Now I’ll never know but curious what you think of the “n/a” cam specs. Love the data ! Very helpful to us all thanks for the awesome videos
The G8 GT's came with an alum 6L with rect port heads aka L76 or L77 depending on year. Pretty much an LS2 with afm/dod lifters (but I don't believe ever were VVT motor) with rect port heads such as 823 or 5364.. Not 821s as those are LS3 that came with lightweight intake valves. And cam is pretty much just a 1-bolt 4x version of the 2001-04 LS1 cam. The reason it was only rate at 355-365hp was bc it was de-tuned to run 87 oct gas vs 91-93 premium like the rest of the LS equipped cars (minus the LS4).
