Los SS, I’m working on my ‘14 SS now and have ordered a supercharger for it and a ZL1 lid. I’m taking notes and looking to send off the lower to get ported soon. Love your car bro.
Gorgeous whip bro. It’s appearance and aesthetics are super classy from the Holden lid on the blower to the chiller. As a PPV owner and tuner designed that intake based on IAT and MAF. VCM OTR’s flow more but suck in hot air. First thing done after the HPTUNERS scan, I’m in Florida. Subscribed and hope to see more content of this GeM 💎. LL🦁Holden🇦🇺
Sweet! I wanted a g8 at first but it’s hard finding a non modified one here in Houston. So ended up getting the ss. Had it for 5 years now and love it.
look into getting a cheap 14+ caprice for under 4500$ put 6-7k$ into it as a g8/chevy ss crossover.. chevy caprice 11-13 are basically g8 leftovers 14+ are basically a cop car with a chevy ss interior minus floor shift and other bells and whistles
Super duper ride bro. Notice u back into ur garage. Drywalling seals off fumes a lot better than unfinished garages. However, it's still risky even when garage door is open.
Thanks bud. I ended up getting the hsv air bag. It’s on my latest video. One day I’ll get the HSV kit. It’s pricey for sure. Wish the would have sent the hsv models to the US.
The majority of what’s good about it comes from the US lol, the travesty is that it wasn’t built here, instead we ship engines/trans/diffs/shafts/axles to Holden then they stuff in this thing & send back to us 🤔🧐🤷🏻♂️
@@tractorguy1994 Hahahah dilligaf…haven’t heard before but I like, I lived in OZ for 6 months 23 years ago….a lot has changed since then (unfortunately) but you guys had some cool cars, would’ve been nice to have seen V8 Ute come to the states too. FWIW I’ve owned both a commodore & a Monaro (G8GT & GTO)
V8 Commodores all came with quad tips on the exhaust. The V6 3.6L came with dual exhaust single tips. They look sharp and fill the diffuser/bumper gap perfectly. At least do this mod. Parts are readily available anywhere in Australia but I am certain they are also available in the USA.
The 2014/2015 models in the USA came with single tips. The 2016/2017 models came with bimodal dual tips. Agreed, I do like the dual tips also myself. I've just never bother to change the tips/stock mufflers. The stock mufflers tend to do a really good job and minimizing drone.
Moving from UK to Australia 25y ago, Holden built the best car I've ever seen. Sad they got closed down by the later USA parent company and then tried to replace them with USA cars at 3plus times more the price, just hasn't worked, Australians have moved to mid range cars now and now have nothing to offer. So nice to see these cars being respected and made into an icon forever.
It wasnt GM that was to blame for Holden's shutdown. Essentially Holden was hemmorhaging money and had been for years. They relied on govt handouts for many years and when the then Australian liberal govt said no more GM had no choice but to close the operation down. Everyone blames GM but it was ironically an Australian government that invited them to build cars here many decades before after WWII (with govt financial assistance) so we would have manufacturing plants here should another war break out. The idea was we could then quickly turn those plants into building tanks and aircraft. And so it was the Australian government (notably Joe Hockey) who essentially told GM they could f#ck off. That act was nothing short of disgraceful after all GM-Holden had done for the economy for so many years. Of course, Holden didnt do themselves any favours by continuing to refine the Commodore which was described by some in 2014 with the release of the VF as the best value sedan in the world in its price bracket. The problem was by 2017 the world had moved on as had much of the Australian public, who had by now been buying SUV's and cheap rubbish from Asia for many years, and the glory days of the Commodore being the best selling car in the country had long passed. The liberal government decided that there was no point in continuing to fund the building of a car that the Australian public was no longer buying and so was the demise of Holden. The legacy we have as owners of the late model Commodores is the pleasure and enjoyment of driving one which largely only exists thanks to the Australian taxpayer.
@@DavidTron63 V8 and gasoline powered vehicles for the public are a dying breed. So non of those things you said doesn't really matter lol. The only thing to do now is save them and take care of them. They'll be worth a lot in the future.
I’m running a 28” Mickey on my SS with King SSSL springs. You should be fine, I would just roll the fenders a little more down to the rocker or it will rub when you pre load at the track.
love your car and channel. Not tooting my horn here, just had a bbm moment! I’ve done more than a few thousand supercharger kits and builds. BBM VW. You don’t want water sucking into that low mounted intake. Near instant charger failure. Water as we know does not compress. Even heavy rain could kill your set up. The loose heaton and roots can pass fuel and meth injection. TVS is a hybrid roots twin screw design. In my opinion super risky passing any fluids. Twin screw Lysholm passing liquids will fail nearly immediately. Also with forced induction, keeping your filter away from heat is less important than keeping it safe from debris and water ingestion in my opinion. Peace, keep up the great work. Johnny B. PS. Unless you never ever drive in the rain. Or you will vacuum up water! Charger turbo failure sucks literally. Super siik build!_
Appreciate it man! Thanks for looking out. I barely drive this car, only on the weekends really and never in the rain. Yup I’ve heard of people sucking up water with a low mounted intake. I do my best to avoid that.
Awesome build and very tasteful mods, In your parts video list you had new head gaskets, why did you remove the to install the LSA ? How is the drivability now compared to the previous set up ?
Heads came off to do a full inspection of the motor and install new cam, lifters, valve springs, etc. A valve seal had actually broken and made its way into the oil pan which the pickup tube screen caught it.
Hey man just subbed to the channel, I’m about to LSA my SS with basically the same set up besides blower being ported. I had a question what’s the max the stock fuel pump can handle ?
Thanks for subscribing. That’s a good question. Tbh I wouldn’t know, however I would say it is probably good up 600ish hp. If not mistaken it is very similar to the zl1 fuel pump. If you ever start to run out of fuel, you can do like a DSX aux pump along with you stock fuel pump. This is the route a lot of people take and also cheaper.
Nice car bro. V lid with hsv logo painted on it? Looks good. And the build plate that suppose to go on the fuse box cover FYI. LOL unless you wanted it there. My car is going to Koza very very soon for a stage 3 built block forged internals and fully built too end and I mean anything available for this engine is upgraded with the best of the best. And for Triple pump system. FIC 1650. Circle D multi disc converter. Turbo cam. His turbo kit with upgraded 7685 precision. Too much to list lol. We are hopeful to hit 1200 to 1400 hp 35k worth in parts and labor. Then another 5k for inclose trailer to and from so yeh I'm super excited for mine to be done. Great looking car bro keep it up.
Appreciate it. Yeah HSV logo. Wanted something different and to stand out. Took advantage for the space on the v lid for a custom logo. Everything got powder coated. The plate doesn’t really contain any details specifically about the car. I wanted something a little different as well so it only states a couple of things on it. That’s what’s up! Definitely heard of Koza. Should come out a monster and be able to hold anything you throw at it! Guessing you are throwing a blower on it as well?
@@LosSS his turbo kit. 7678 precision turbo. Just a tip, I use this combo for all my cars and my ss. Go to H3R.COM They sell fire extinguisher for cars. Very nice ones it come with a bracket to hold the extinguisher. Then from there go to Amazon the sell a bracket called bracketeer and then it hooks onto the rails of the seats or bolts then you connect the fire extinguisher with bracket on that bracket done and clean.
@@davidtranmedia5112 oh sweet! Turbos! Gotcha. Appreciate the tip! Definitely need to get the right kind of fire extinguisher and mounted. I’ll be looking into it. Thanks
@@LosSS yeh bro at first I wanted oem LSA look. Then want a 2650 from Kong. Then went down the rabbit hole. I wanted a set up so that down the road if I want more power all I have to do is go bigger turbo or do a LSX OR DART block iron block and bigger turbo and that's it I can hit 2k + hp. You know? Just get it done once or twice at the most
I think the Chevy SS has a better name then the Dodge Charger. That's one thing they have over them. I just wish they had put more thought into the SS. The SS was never meant to challenge the SRT8 it was really meant to challenge the RT Dodge Charger RT stock RT the Corvette meant to challenge the SRT8. I will get the SS because it's a sleeper and I like the name.
That is a great machine! Is your engine tuned on 93 Octane Gas or E-85? I have a 2009 Pontiac G8 GT set up very similar to your SS except I am running a Magnuson 2300 Supercharger at 10 pounds of boost. I also run E-85. That let's me pull a little more timing and it runs cooler than 93. I do have to use dual fuel pumps. It was tuned on a dyno to 715 HP on E-85, however on 93 Octane it makes 650 HP. You really have a beautiful machine. Enjoy that ride! Great video! 👍
Thanks! If I was to ever change the blower, I would go with a mangnuson or harrop 2650. I appreciate all the R&D those companies put into their blower. My car has a flex fuel tune so I can swap between fuels no problem. Most of the time this thing is on E, luckily for me I have 3 e-85 fuel stations within a 15 mile radius and typically have over 75% ethanol. Every once in a while ill run half a tank of 93.
wonder howe that would sound through stock axlebacks. sure your making power but its lloud AF. id sacrifice a few HP with stock exhaust. nice car, i have a G8GT
Good question. I don’t daily this car and drive it through the rain. It’s more of a weekend car. If it was raining, I would definitely avoid driving it.
Los SS - Really nice ride. Why did you swap from the Circle D 3600 back to stock ZL1 TC? I have a high stall TC in mine and have been thinking swapping it out for something a little more daily driver friendly. Did you have to retune the TCM after the swap? Thanks.
Drivability mainly. This boost cam doesn’t require a big converter. It drives amazing with the zl1 converter. The converter got swapped out while the motor was out getting new cam and blower installed. Yes i would definitely get a retune right away after swapping converters.
I'm planning on picking this up next year, but i'm stuck between this and a gt350. Knowing myself, i know i'm going to be bored of that 370rwhp fairly quick, was wondering what would be a good hp number for these cars to still be daily drivable, something that won't be going to the repair shop every year or so lol. This is going to be my daily, but i do want something fun.
I dig the gt350r. I had a buddy that had one and absolutely loved it. I'm not a big fan of ford but I'll take a gt350r or a single cab f150 with a ten speed. You can make great power NA or boosted and it be reliable. Just have to make sure you do the right mods and get the car tuned by someone that actually knows what they are doing. If you are staying NA, get some headers, xpipe, CAI, cam (stock stall cam or a cam with a bigger converter), and a tune and easily make 450-470ish. If you plan on going boosted, I would go with a boosted cam from the beginning or you can simply slap on a stock lsa kit and make 500-550 easily. There are sites that sell complete stock lsa kits for about 4-5k.
I ordered it from jtcarbon.com. The price listed on the site is a lot higher than what I paid for. I would hurry up and contact the person who makes them if you are interested. Last I saw he was going to stop making them. His IG is joshj2009.
These cars were seen as a cheap drivers car to carry the kids in Australia for the past 30 years, then production came to a halt and the pandemic hit, now they are selling at drug money prices. The most powerful model, sold a very limited number of them with an LS9 dry sump motor supercharged, that came factory with 635hp with 600 torque. Sold brand new for $120k USD, now are currently selling second hand upwards of $350k USD 5 years later they are called HOLDEN HSV GTSR W1 They also released an older model in a coupe with a 427 cube motor, which they struggled to sell brand new, but now blokes are willing to give their left nut for one now
I wish we would have gotten the HSV models in the US. The W1 is truly a beauty and such an amazing car. I saw a post a while back of a W1 that auctioned for $1 mil.
@@LosSS hmmm... might have missed that one, would have to be a limited spec one. There was a hsv supercharged ute, i believe 1 of 1 in its options list that sold for $1.2 million AUD, so 900k usd roughly. Crazy prices would never pay that. You guys would have liked the Fords too. The I6 turbos are a lot quicker than the v8s. There are guys with ford 4 litre inline 6s with up to 2500 horse power and still legal to drive on the road. In either 4 door sedan or ute
As long as the motor is healthy, why not. Depends what your goals are. If you daily drive and want to go for longevity, I would go with stock to low boost.
