PLEASE NOTE! The wilwood valve requires two, M10x1 bubble to M10x1 inverted, flare adapters to be used on the stock toyota lines. I forgot them when filming, but went back and installed them after. Do not crank down the lines directly into the valve without these adapters, or you risk damaging your lines, or the valve! Adapters can be found here:

Thank you. 🙏 I actually swapped the entire rear axle from a 2014 Tundra, and they come from the factory with discs in the rear. I’m probably going make a quick video on the ins and outs of the axle swap, since a number of folks have asked.

How does this work when its the front brakes that get more pressure wouldn't you want it up front under the hood for the front brakes
@JHBtheIV
@JHBtheIV Месяц назад
It's a rear proportioning valve, so it controls how much pressure goes to the rear brakes. It does not "take away" any pressure from the front brakes, it only controls the fluid volume to the rear. You never want your rear brakes locking up before the front, as it can create loss of control. When towing or hauling heavy loads, the amount of weight on the front and rear tires changes, which changes when the front and rear brakes lock up. This valve just allows you to adjust for different loads, so you can continue to prevent the rear brakes from locking up before the fronts.

can you please tell me how you made that mounting bracket step by step please thank you and where did you get the material
@JHBtheIV

I made a template out of cardboard of the shape I wanted, then cut and drilled a piece of 16g steel sheet. Used the stock bolts to mount it to the chassis, and some through bolts and nuts to bolt on the PV.

Couple questions: Which Wilwood valve did you use? The one with the 10-1mm bubble flare inlets or another one? Does your Tundra have bubble flares on the brake lines? Most people mount their Wilwood Adjustable Valves under the hood...how does your hold up to water and dirt? I am thinking about mounting mine under the truck, where the old LSPV was located. as well.
@JHBtheIV
@JHBtheIV 4 месяца назад
I used the valve with M10x1 bubble flare fittings.. My tundra has inverted flares on the brake lines, so I had to run adapters; I put them in the description. No issues with putting the valve in the stock location. I prefer it, as I only adjust it when im towing something particularly heavy, and I can just reach under and turn it when im hooking up the trailer.

@JHBtheIV
@JHBtheIV Год назад
@@raulbueno4284 Oh man, definitely not the same. 1st Gen has a 8.4" ring gear, 7/8" diameter, 29 spline axles, and drum brakes. 2nd Gen has a 10.5" ring gear, 1 3/4" diameter, 36 spline axles, and disc brakes. The 2nd gen axle is WAY beefier, essentially a 1 ton axle.

You have to make sure you get the wilwood valve with the correct fittings for your brake line set up. They make a couple different options.

Wilwood 260-12627 is the valve I used, but you will need to make sure you get the one with the proper inlet/outlet for your fittings, and use flare adapters if necessary. I would imagine your toyota uses the same size fittings, but you will need to confirm.

Does this valve still work if the rear brakes are drum brakes?
@JHBtheIV
@JHBtheIV 7 месяцев назад
Yes it does. The valve proportions the fluid going to the front and back wheels, so the type of brake at the wheel is a non-factor.

@@JHBtheIVI just did this same procedure on my 2003 Toyota Tacoma and I pretty much followed your video to a T. I am 100% not blaming you for anything I have done on my truck, but after I did this I also bled the brakes. When I was pumping the brakes for the last caliper the pressure on my brakes gave out and they do not work. I thought maybe I installed the valve wrong but other than the in and out lines being a little lose before I tighten them after my brakes gave out I have no idea what may have caused this. My master cylinder is full of brake fluid but my emergency brake light is on. Any advice or help is much obliged
@JHBtheIV
@JHBtheIV 3 месяца назад
@@Thelegend-fm4rz Thats no fun! If they gave out all of a sudden, something probably let loose. If you don’t see fluid coming from any of the lines, I’d check inside your rear drums, and also check to make sure the MC isn’t leaking into the brake booster. Both these are common issues on these old trucks.

@JHBtheIV No, I bought a valve that fit my brake line so I wouldn’t have to buy adapters (M10 x 1.0)
