In this video we test Luba 2 to see how it performs when used in areas that have no GNSS satellite signal.
We found that LUBA 2 has a great ability to be able to be mapped when with no GNSS signal as well as being able to map channels between areas.
LUBA 2 will work with no satellite or GPS signal very well and this test has results that far exceeding my own expectations.
LUBA 2 can work with it charging station install in areas that have no GNSS signal as well.

Seems very promising. I have a "small" corridor between my house and the neighbors shed which is about 8 meters long with 1m of tiles towards the house and 2-3m of grass up to the shed. Cannot wait for my Luba to come.

Yes it is promising. We will still do more testing on areas that have low GNSS signal strength so we can get a better understanding of when Luba 2 will use this camera positioning vs its traditional RTK positioning.

Thanks for this, glad it can dock under roof that is a big improvement, my V1 already does but on the fringes of a 180deg sky view on the patio. The other thing I’d really liked to have seen it capable of is when you map too close to fences that the camera system will avoid contact even if the GNS is thrown off by metal fencing, essentially a correction path to avoid contact, even better if it can do this along mower strips around the home, detecting the slight rise in height, as Luba will sometimes scrape on these edges. Active hard edge detection/avoidance would be great, even while there is a weak signal. Then I think it’ll be Schmicko.

Thanks. yes you are correct. Active edge detection would be great. Segway I series has a similar feature and it works ok, but certainly not perfect yet. A few more FW updates and hopefully LUBA 2 will have this feature too.

Wow amazing useful video, thanks planning to buy a robot and would love to park it under the my roofed and closed of terras, so it's protect from the elements. But was a bit worried that would not work, I do get poor signal of gps there with my phone, but seeing this video convinced me this would just work!

Thanks Jason for another great video. I really enjoy watching the trial and error of each test. I have luba-2 on order but have little shade so camera capabilites seemed a nice to have until you got to the garaged charging station test. This would be major for me and I'd really appreciate a test to see if limitations to this mentioned by others might relate to locating the charger in partial signal (versus no signal) and/or low light levels. Buy the way I'd love to have ordered through you guys but I'm in Dublin. Though its looking like you could have simply instructed it to find its own way from Oz to Ireland 😊

Thanks. Yes I will be testing the base station location far more thoroughly in coming videos. also testing in low GNSS signal areas as I feel this is the biggest issue currently with LUBA 2. Getting that smooth transition between using satellites to using the camera and IMU is something I hope that gets better over time with new FW updates.

So my Luba 2 has arrived and I successfully moved the charging station to my basement garage. Luba was then sent out to mow and was able to return to the charging station (provided the garage light was on). When light was off it stopped a few feet in. I'm assuming this was due to insufficient daylight from just the open garage doorway. However just a few minutes later it would not leave the charging station (saying robot not ready) unless manually controlled by bluetooth back outside to calibrate satellite positioning. By the way I have a 4G sim and can access it remotely through this and view through its camera, can even select mow but it says "not ready". We're tantalisingly close. Hopefully Mammotion could get us there with a software update to retain the capabilities that it is already desplaying, until the next mow. I don't want to leave it outside and the garage has perfect constant conditions for a long battery life.

Can you please do a review of the DREAME A1 it uses LiDAR and then a comparison of the LUBA 2 vs DREAME A1

I havent been approached by Dreame as yet. But im sure we will deal with them at some pint in the near future.

I saw a comparison on RU-vid between Luba 2, Dreame A1, and another lawnmower. The Dreame navigated very well, and impressed me, but the complaints were that it had trouble in tall grass (something like 3" or higher) and due to the front wheel just being a loose wheel (like an office chair caster), the unit got bounced around on bumpy grass and sometimes went a little off course.

Thanks for this interesting test of Luba 2. I have a question. Does the move of the RTK antenna impact the existing mappings ?
3 месяца назад
You can't move the RTK antenna once it's mapped. You can only move the charging station. If you want to move the RTK, the whole mapping needs to be done again.
@robotlawnmowersaustralia7913
@robotlawnmowersaustralia7913 2 месяца назад
It is the same as any RTK based robot. If you move the RTK Base Antenna you will move the mapping as well. So as soon as you move the antenna you will need ot remap everything.
@Pago77

What if the environment changes. For example things are moved around in your garage would it confuse what the Luba has visually recorded.?
@robotlawnmowersaustralia7913
@robotlawnmowersaustralia7913 2 месяца назад
Im pretty sure the IMU will take over and it will still find its way as long as the obstacles dont force the robot to move more than 0.5mt from the centre line of the channel. I will be doing more testing on this in future vidoes as the position of lube with no satilite coverage does expire in a short period and then Luba is not able to travel again until it has its Satellite position again.

Hi guys, I'm trying to decide between the 1 and the 2. I've seen some people online say that luba 1 is better for night time mowing as while it's "blind" without the camera, it has 4 sensors as opposed to three on the new one. That the camera does help it for daytime mowing but that it provides no benefit at night, and the loss of the extra sensor makes it a little less suitable than the old one when choosing to mow at night. Is there any truth to that? Do you think luba 1 with 4 sensors would be better for nighttime mowing compared to the new version with 3 + a camera?
@robotlawnmowersaustralia7913
@robotlawnmowersaustralia7913 2 месяца назад
The ultra sonic sensors ar eonly used for object detection. So both will mow much the same as each other at night. If you have open areas to mow then Luba 1 will do the job well. If you need the camera detection for low GNSS signal areas then I would buy Luba 2.

Hi, just go into your map. Click edit and you should see a list of your areas. At the bottom of each listing there is a little arrow pointing down. Click on this and you will see a list of no go zones and channels that are related to that area. You can then selct the channel you want to delete and then press the trash can icon to the right of it.

Why do the bigger model cost so much more, battery's aren't that expensive. Can I buy base model and upgrade battery myself?
@robotlawnmowersaustralia7913
@robotlawnmowersaustralia7913 25 дней назад
I wish I could answer this better for you, but you are right the cost of the bigger battery would be insignificant. It is just marketing, they make low profit on the smaller models and high profit on the larger models.

@ 40:51 - 42:00 - 43:45 this is very misleading, you are right to be surprised! The vision system will time out. I have my charging station in a spot that sometimes does not have good satellite coverage. It will always resume mowing, so the vision system seems to stay active for an hour to charge. But at night, after a certain amount of time, the camera symbol goes away and it will not start mowing in the morning if it does not have a satellite fix. this is confirmed by others on facebook/reddit. The conclusion in 46:35 - 48:30 is simply not true, sorry. i really wish it was. Charing in the garage would be a game changer, as you say! But it's not a viable option, yet.

Thank you greatly for letting me know this. It may be due to a recalibration of the IMU. I will see if I can get the actual reason for this from Mammotion and find out if future updates might allow this to work.
@robotlawnmowersaustralia7913
@robotlawnmowersaustralia7913 3 месяца назад
I have contacted some of the Mammotion techs that I deal with and they have clarified to me today that the only reason for Luba 2 to not return to work after being on the charger over night in a non GNSS charging position would be due to low light conditions. The timer that resets the robots position after an hour or two in areas with no GNSS signal does not apply when it is on the charger. I will test this again in a specific video for just this function, but I won't be able to do this for another couple of weeks. If anyone has tested this with the latest FW, please comment and let us all know your findings.

@@robotlawnmowersaustralia7913 I'm on the latest beta firmware. I have a light in my backyard, i could leave it on tonight and see what happens. But I do not get the notification anymore that says "ambient light too weak, turning off camera..."(Paraphrase). I have not found out if everyone on beta has this same experience. Someone who gets that notification consistently might be better to test.

@@robotlawnmowersaustralia7913 it's super cloudy right now, and it was sitting on the charger with the camera symbol. I checked back 30 mins later and the camera symbol is gone, I tried to tell it to start but it won't. It's not dark enough yet for that to be a factor. Hopefully it will charge to 80% before it is too dark. I want to see if it will auto leave or not. Maybe the camera locating ability is getting reset when it gains a sat fix intermittently...?

You are right. And we will keep the position system working even if it is dark and no satellites signals as long as it is charging in the future firmware. Thanks for your explanation.

Sorry to hear your experience. Unfortunately when purchasing these product through Amazon or directly from the manufacturer, support is often not very good. As a local dealer we only sell products that we can carry spare parts and support our customers.
