In an interview with Olivia Cooke (Alicent), she says that Alicent knows that Aegon and Aemond were terrible people, while Jace and Luke were sweethearts, which made her more bitter towards Rhaenyra because in addition to getting a lot of favor from Viserys as well as being able to bed a guy she liked, she also adjusted well to motherhood while Alicent never did.
Rhanyras bastards got attention from there mother and father and adopted father but aegon and aemond didn't got there father's attention and aemond was bullied by his bastard nephews and his elder brother and don't give fake news

I liked all of the kid Targaryens and Velaryons/Strongs, Jace, Luke, Baela, Rhaena, Helaena, and even Aemond are all sweeties. Ya, I think for the Westerosi the "Stranger" refers to one of the seven gods (the Stranger=Death, if I remember correctly) but I was a bit confused by this because the Targaryens "tolerate" the Seven (new gods) but their gods .. are their dragons, lol. I'm saying this because I just rewatched season one and the scene with Daemon, Rhaenyra and Alicent kind of stuck with me, when Daemon is pointing out that the Hightowers have already begun removing all Targaryen heraldry (three headed dragon emblems in red & black etc) in favor of 7 pointed stars etc. Like, Viserys is not even cold in the ground and they are already trying to remove every trace of him in their eagerness to embrace fanatics and zealots. My heart still weeps at the Corlys and Luke interaction. He cared more about his family being alive than the throne at Driftmark. You could tell that impacted Corlys alot. He was such a sweet boy 💔

Jace protecting Luke is so sweet, like at 0:27 Jace stops Luke from touching the hot egg. Also at 6:33 when Jace puts his arms around him! It’s the little moments that are the best I think!
This is one of the reasons why i fully support the team Black ; it feels simply so right because of how Rhaenyra kids are raised, and how beautiful their interactions are. Moreover, i'm alreadly thrilled to see the incredible warrior that Jacearys Valeryon is about to be during this two years and half conflict between the black and the greens. In the book, i did really enjoy his participation in differents fights ; to the point that he became a real threat for the greens. Season 2 will be wonderfull ! The bastard won't play no game.
It’s because the moment jace saw what aemond was capable of he trained harder and took seriously to his role and tried to toughen Luke up and training aswell. Jace was very smart and educated it shows in his ability to plan and lead he was confident without being arrogant he wasn’t stupid he knew what he was up against with aemond and aegon. I hope we see some of his battles as well.
I don't like Rhaenyra, but I have to admit that she knew how to separate things, instead of manipulating her children for her own goals, like Alicent did, she focused on showing what was right and what was wrong, while Alicent was so blinded by her anger and resentment used her children as pawns just as Otto Higtower did with her, which is why Aegon and Aemond are extremely difficult people to deal with.
People seem to be forgetting that there are scenes that show the children getting along at the beginning - yes, there were rivalries between them and teasing (remember it was all the boys who teased Aemond with the pig) but that is common amongst children. The situation was precarious, but not grievous, until Laena's funeral when things finally reached a point of no return. It is a tragedy that was built towards for many years.
Your wife having children by another man( while married to you) shouldn't be tolerated. It's caused single parenthood and dysfunctional families especially in today's "tolerable" time. The people who suffer the most are the children, as this period of Westeros history shows.
The way Rhaenyra raised her children is the main reason why I am Team Black. It’s clear that she taught her children kindness, and the difference between right and wrong. Meanwhile, Alicent was so busy being manipulative and seeking power that she would not even discipline Aegon when he was masturbating out a window or getting drunk at a funeral.
The differences i find is how Rhaenyra has Laenor Harwin and Daemon as father figure Aegon 2 has no father he even say Viserys didnt like him thats why he is a Big Joffrey with Ego and no security Aemond is just a crazy sociopath second son like Daemon
They were only better sons because they had nearly 4 different families as parental figures including their biological father while Aegon 2 and Aemond literally only had each other and their mom to rely on so your argument doesn’t really help you.They we’re basically raised by a village.

He knows his situation, he tried, it didn't work so he and Rhaenyra agreed on a solution. He even named the youngest after his lover Joffrey, carrying him and shushing about him growing up to be a good knight. Laenor IS their father.
6:13 After Luc died I go back to this. Things could have been different. Aemond may have been less callous, maybe he would have found another dragon, maybe he would be a more conciliatory voice within the greens. The adults really screwed things up for these kids.
Aemond really didn't mean to hurt anyone when he took Vhaegar. He wasn't thinking "Oh I'm going to go behind my cousin's back or take this before they do." He would've taken any free dragon he saw.
I totally felt that, in a less contentious world, they have become really good friends and each others right hands 😪Stupid, petty feud really poisoned their children.

ok but why is no one talking about how Aemond looked at Jace by the fire pit. It almost looked like he really wanted to say something or like he had some type of longing and looked sort of sympathetic and it looked like he almost even offered a smile towards Jace but decided against it. I really do believe that they could've gotten along so well had it not been for the parents turning them against each other. Especially Alicent and Otto, they really messed these kids up
I felt it too, probably sorry for their father's death. It was simply Otto and Alicent, the absolute 🐍snakes🐍, Aemond and Helena were otherwise good kids, as for their elder brother aegon, he was very entitled and brat but not rotten to the core like his mother, grandpa and mentor the simp Cole.
Laenor considers them his children, no wonder why he loves them so much. Yet I am surprised with Daemon's affection for Jace and Luke. Especially in episode 2 S2 regards
Aemond and his nephews would have gotten along if it wasn't for Aegon. He was old enough to know better and made his own brother a black sheep to be clowned by others. He instigated most of it. Jace would have never done that to Luke. Aemond never stood up to his real bully.
I like the theory that Laenor let Rhaenyra have some bastard children with Harwyn Strong. Perhaps even though Laenor was gay, him and Rhaenyra still tried to have kids several times and it never worked, so Laenor was like "Well shit I might be infertile, better have SOMEONE as heir". He seemed to have a kind of "hidden knowledge" in his "Of course" to Harwyn when he asked if he could hold bebe Joffrey, like he knew that Harwyn just wanted to hold his son

However, in the book, there are some who think Alyn was actually Corlys's son, but didn't want Rhaenys to know about them, so he waited until after she died and got Rhaenyra to recognize him as his legitimate grandson.
I just now noticed that during the attack, Vaemond took a a stand next to Corlys to protect Jace and Luke. Or he could have just been siding with his brother and not cared who it was against but it was nice to see.

For those of you who hyper monitor Christen Cole lol if you goto 7:51 to 7:55 you get a Birds Eye view of Sir Cole yet again losing his shit but Damon literally stops him and shoves him back it isn't until this happens his guardsmen come to restrain Sir Cole. So the fact that Cole was INDEED going to get that eye from Lucerys....makes me disgust him even more because Lucerys is probably all of 6 years old! I truly don't understand how Sir Cole is getting away with so much he should have been castrated, banished, or killed for his egregious behavior and his lack of ethics leading to TWO deaths but I doubt those are his only kills.
Well he already has a grudge against rhaenyra for using him the way she did.And believe it or not losing an eye in exchange for putting one out was a rather fitting punishment for the time. And when you have the queen backing you you're hard to touch.

I think Aegon would make a better (or less bad) ruler than Rhaenyra for several reasons : 1) I think neither Aegon nor Rhaenyra have the talent to rule, but the difference between the two is that Aegon knows it. He would have been a passive king and would have let his small council make the important decisions, while Rhaenyra overestimates her own abilities and makes mistakes. 2) As king, Aegon at least had the courage to fight his own battles as Rhaenyra spent her time hiding and sending others to die for her own cause, resulting in the deaths of Rhaenys and three of her children. 3) Rhaenyra never really bothered to learn to govern: when she had to face the consequences of her own mistakes, she preferred to flee, did not hear from her father, leaving Alicent and Otto in charge of the Kingdom. When she returns, it's only to ask her dying father for an extra favor. 4) Yes, I'd rather see a kingdom at peace ruled by two able and wise rulers (Alicent and Otto), who have risen in their abilities and are considerate of the people they rule than by a selfish daddy's girl and a supremacist psychopath who think their dragons make them superior beings.

I love how they show Otto watching Daemon leave the funeral, and noticing Rhaenyra going after him. Then when they are in the hall with all the kids fighting and Rhaenyra busts through the door, of course Otto takes particular notice that she came in all disheveled with Daemon right behind her. ❤ Then later she says she couldn't sleep so she was "out for a walk" and they pan the camera to Daemon.
I think it would be a neat little detail if in the future Jace had like his own Strong badge or necklace that shows that he privately acknowledges Harwin and Lyonel as his family
I have mixed opinions about Rhaenyra's parenting. The boys are not perfect, but they are genuinely good. However, Rhaenyra is the sort of mother whose children can do no wrong and never suffer the consequences for nothing and to live around this people is literal hell. The problem is that Nyra is the same... She has a golden heart but she is too spoiled, and is trying to do the same with her boys. But this is dangerous to everyone in their position.
The only time this is ever even kind of shown is when Luke takes aemond's eye which was an accident and out of self-defense so him and his brother didn't DIE plus rhae didn't even know exactly what happened all she knew was her son's were bleeding and were saying they were almost killed what did you want her to do cut her little boys eye out because he defended his brother? also with rhae her dad always overshadowed her with a son(that he didn't even have yet) and made her feel like she would never be good enough and her mother was pregnant and bed ridden most of the time if she was treated like that (which we don't even know if she was) it was because her parents didn't have enough time for her(mostly viserys but aemma to)

Luke attacked eith the knife after Jace threw sand in Aemond's eyes, when he was already disoriated: it was not out of fear, it was because of the insult. But fair enough, Rhaenyra was not there when the fight happened. Her sons were bleeding. However, what she could see clearly that they had not suffered any permanent injure, while the other boy (her brother!) was maimed. And I'm sure she could do some basic math and understand that 4>1. But she did not care. She never asked. She didn't even pretend to worry about the victim. Instead, she weaponized her father favor to threaten the victim and anyone who defended him. Viserys may have briefly made her feel less than Aegon while Aegon was a baby, but Rhaenyra knew she was the favorite as an adult and was willing to use that to hurt her brothers if it would benefit her. So what would a minimally decent person do in her place? Would you let someone gouge out a child's eye as "payment"? Certainly not. But a decent person wouldn't try to dodge punishment. In fact, as a mother, she should have punished her children herself, because that's part of parenting.

But I want to point out that Aemond was a child too... and in the series, he is the same age as Jace and the twins. But most fans don't judged him with the same leniency as they judge the other children.
RR Martin and the directors did a great job portraying the kids and adults showing remorse and respect and almost feeling like ur average family(w/Dragons lol). Same with dragons, one scene they’re chilling together, next scene is straight up seeing red against each other
This show fills me with so much conflict. Rhaenarya was the heir, but her kids were bastards and Aegon ll was an unfit ruler Aemond wasn’t and was the son of the king. There’s so much to be discussed about this series.
@@iBeFloe in the episode where he’s looking for his brother Aegon he opens up and you learn a lot about his intelligence and his struggles. I think Aemond would’ve been a great ruler (maybe a little authoritative) his dark side only comes out when dealing with his nephews that cut his eye out, which to be fair is a reasonable grudge to have.
I find it sad that luc died because I really liked him and I was also sad that aemond killed him because that will lie with him forever also I think everyone over looks just how hatful and in pain aemond was from being bullied so much by luc and his brother.
Luke and his brother never bullied Aemond, they only laughed and supported Aegon in his pranks. It was Aegon who bullied Aemond, those 5 and 6 year olds were too young to understand morals, meanwhile the 15 year old Aegon knew exactly what he was doing, and conveniently shifted the blame on his innocent nephews

Of course the younger boys thought it was a funny prank, but they didn't understand how much it hurt Aemond, but Aegon did, and that's why he blamed it on Rhaenyra's innocent boys. He knew what he did was bad, so he pinned the blame on kids.
It wasn't Jace and Luc who made Aemond this way. He was damaged by the father who neglected him, the older brother who cruelly lead the bullying, and the mother who turned a blind eye to that. He wouldn't even be that obsessed with dragons if he didn't feel so neglected and tortured. Ironically, Jace and Luc could have been his only salvation in the family because they would have been true friends with him. But in the end, their parents' conflict tore them apart.
Throughout the show and GOT I never felt so much in sympathy and empathy for ‘Bastards’(like even though they are in fact bastards like I never liked how bastards were being treated )

Laenor failed to give Rhaenyra children, and within this context that's a massive failure for a husband, which is why he had to accept she'll have kids by another man and they'll have to muddle along with it.
